Hey Rob, I would have mailed you privately but you didn't give any address.

I don't think that John P was singing on Wanted Dead or Alive. My friend and
I both agreed that it was Chris Collins. I've heard John P sing before and
I really don't think that it is him.

    Subject: compilation tapes.

Hi all... I am starting to do some thinking like Mike Bahr... I am
thinking of EVENTUALLY making a DT compilation tape of all songs that
they have done live that are not from I&W. I have all of them on CD,
so it should not be too difficult to make... Here is what I have, and
    their source.

A Change Of Seasons: Dances Of Eternity
    Eve (lyrics): Dances Of Eternity
A Fortune In Lies: Dances Of Eternity
    Ytse Jam: Dances Of Eternity
Moon Bubbles, Another Day, Another Hand, Killing Hand: Home Sweet Home
all lead from one right into the next
    Status Seeker: Dream Out Loud
Forever, Barfbag, Drum Solo: Dream Out Loud
Bombay Vindaloo: Live At The Marquee
Eve (inst): probably from show that was source of DoL (on tape)

Would people be interested in something like this? I would fill the
rest of it with songs from DoE, and DoL, probably Wait For
Sleep/Learning To Live from DoE, then maybe Wait For Sleep/Surrounded
from DoL... I know that these are repeating, but they are blended into
    each other perfectly...

Well, the source never did say his name, other than Dr. Mosh (drkhoe@netcom.com).

It can be reached at: ftp ftp.netcom.com

I have placed all Dream Theater stuff in:

    /pub/drkhoe/incoming/DT

He will make it publicly availiable in: /pub/drkhoe/DT

I have placed the FAQ, the Discog, the bootleg discog, the lyrics sheets, an ad for YTSEJAM there.

I am not sure about disk space, but maybe we at least put the TABs that everybody has been working on there also...

Didn't even realize that he worked with them also... I am listening, and I am not sure whether I can hear him or not... it seems like both him and Ray are singing simultaneously...

I was sort of half-watching a cycling championship this Saturday (4/2) when all of a sudden the first few bars of "Another Day" came out of the set. They had a voice-over going on about another segment of the show, but it was unmistakeable (and a nice surprise on a Saturday afternoon) I guess there are DT listeners in TV production crews too.:-) I'm not fortunate enough to know any women who listen to DT (and other music like it) so I find it very gratifying to see them speaking out. Go for it, ladies! Lastly, is there any truth to that post I read today about the new album's release date? In three weeks?? ...light to dark dark to light light to dark... Joey

They weren't selling. If you hadn't noticed, Geffen pushed them hard. Their first album was in all the special display racks in all the big record stores. Geffen just decided that they were putting too much money into sump'n that they weren't getting a return on.

I would consider Rush and Queensryche to be similar bands Genre-wise to DT, everyone seems to be forgetting the Iron Maiden influence though! I'm not making this up, DT has listed Maiden as one of their top influences and speakingas one who grew up listening to Maiden I see the similarities. The closest Maiden to DT would be the Powerslave - 7th Son of a 7th Son, although I don't know if the similarities would be all that obvious to the average listener. About the mailing list thread. . .I'm on NMS, New Releases, Bruins, Patriots, Celtics(I gave up on the Sox!), Notes From The Edge(Yes), Gibraltar(Prog. rock, they get REALLY obscure, it's very interesting stuff!), Rising Force(Neo- classical metal, mainly Yngwie), I think that's it. I agree that NMS has become a B.S. balloon, which is too bad. I also think that YTSEJAM used to be even worse than the NMS is, but over time has really matured into a cool list. I just wish I had the cash to get all those bootlegs everyone talks about!! :) NMS still has those cool t-shirts though. . .

It is a soundboard bootleg, it is very obvious, and the audience IS miked, because they were going to release it as a live album. It probably got put out as a bootleg the same way LATM and LIT did as "Images & Tour." It is a little distorted (no one ever said that a soundboard can't distort), which is probably one reason it didn't get released.

We have this video. And they WERE planning on releasing acos. It wasn't a rumor, it was official, but it got cancelled, for whatever reason. That's probably why the industry showcase video was authorized. Because they had decided not to release it. It wouldn't surprise me if DoE was authorized, too.

I just thought of this the other day. Whatever show the Live at the Marquee CD was record at, there must have been a very nice recording system set up there. I'm sure that the tapes ran for the whole show. I was wondering if anyone has any other songs from this show since they would sound incredible just like Marquee does.

I guess the same goes for the Live in Tokyo video. BTW - if you have a way to, make yourself a copy of Live in Tokyo on an audio tape to take with you in the car and stuff. It rocks!!

I was wondering if anyone out there had any boots (audio or video) of Baltimore shows. There are two that I'm interested in (I went to both). On was at Hammerjacks sometime in late February. 27th or 28th. The other was at the Pier 6 Concert Pavilion sometime in July I believe. Let me know if you have anything. I know that there is supposedly an audio of the Hammerjacks show. I would really like to have a video if possible.

At the Hammerjacks show, there was some chick sitting on one of the big PA speakers with a video camera. One big ugly bouncer type guy came up and said something to her but then she said something back or showed him a pass or something and he left her alone. I wonder if this was turned into a boot?

I don't know how "progressive" you would rate these guys but they are really good. They do some off-time/off-beat stuff, the guitars and vox are really good too. If you guys get a chance you should really check 'em out. There music is really strong and I wou ld think that DT fans would really appreciate their music.

P.S. when the new fates warning comes out I hope someone posts something incase I don't hear anything about it. I saw 'em once at the Limelight in NYC they were awesome. Except theie was a problem with Aresti's guitar rig at one point and it took about 2 min's or so to fix. I have been listening to them since their first album

To follow up on Mike Burstin's comment about James's singing on Parallels, I have that album and just recently got Perfect Symmetry by Fates Warning (great album). Kevin Moore plays keyboards on a "Metropolis and Kansas's "Cheyenne Anthem'"esque song called At Fates Hands. Perfect Symmetry is much more in the Dream Theater vein than Parallels. It seems Terry Brown watered down their crazy rhythm changes, but the album is incredible. I recommend it and Perfect Symmetry to all DT fans.
