    Hi all:

After hearing Mike Stern's _Is What It Is_ (his latest album), I went out and
picked up _Time In Place_ (1988)--it's good but _Is What It Is_ is a more
honest jazz fusion record. Ironically, Stern was named in a _Guitar Player_
magazine poll as 1993's "Best Jazz Guitar Player." I say ironically because
he earned that award as a result of his second to last album, _Standards (And
Other Songs)_, which was unlike his more contemporary jazz/fusion efforts (of
which his latest is clearly the best--one hears Hendrix-inflected solos in
parts). Any other fans out there? Anyone ever get the _Guitar Player_ CD
sampler? I heard Mike Stern has a track on it and was wondering which one it
    is.

    Mike

    hi.

In case anyone in the Dallas/Ft Worth area is looking for TDOE, CD World
on lower Greenville (Greenville at Mockingbird) has had a copy for a few
weeks just sitting there. i just don't like it sitting there since so many
ppl want to find it. anyway, this store is kinda expensive (they want
$59 for it) but you can talk em way down, to like $45, this is still steep,
but the best price i have found in dallas. this shop has 100's of boots,
but they keep them behind the counter, and have mostly grunge/alternative
type things. (if i see one more pearl jam boot i will just run amok and
kill people) they must have at least 25 different pj boots in stock, and
many many pantera, smashing pumpkins, stone temple pilots, nirvana, that
kind of thing. only have a couple rush and a couple qryche, and the one
dream theater. they do have "over the europe" which is a 2cd rush boot.
    it is very very good.

anyway, hope someone goes and snags that DOE,

    later...

Yes, I sent the money order ($26) (along with a copy of your
e-mail) in an overnight parcel via USPS today at ~2:00PM
PST. It should get to you within 24 hrs. (So they told
me last time I sent something overnight)

I figured everyone on ytsejam east of the divide would get
their money orders to you sooner than us sorry folks here
on the west coast so I wanted to be sure...

I agree. I saw them open for Scorps in Sac and they were
the best opening act I've seen (besides Eric Johnson) and
one of the best acts that I've seen period. And I also
think they sound *much* better live than they do on any of
    the studio productions I've heard.

This film was released in 1988, the correct name is: Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.

Around 1990 (or 1991) wins the Oscar for the best foreign film.

yes it's correct, it's the same voice of the film, curiosly the voice was dubbed in Italian language, because the actor, was French, exactly he is Philippe Noiret.

    bye, Alfredo (alfredo.cappello@galactica.it)
