hey all you guitarists out there. i know this doesn't have to do with bands,
but i am offering help with guitar questions. I have been playing for about
six years now and i feel i know a little about guitars now. so if you have
any questions about guitars, amps, effects, or anything else, please e-mail
me and i'll try to answer your questions. please make note that i wrote try,
I wouldn't call myself an expert. If i don't know i will try my hardest to
find you an answer. I've always thought that if people needed questions an
answered they should have someone to goto.
I hope i can help

Hey there fellow DT worshippers! Is it just me, or, when you listen
to "The Killing Hand" on LatM -> are you reminded of Rob Halford? I
think James sounds so much like Rob in this tune...
Later!

Looks like I might have an opportunity to get some .gif files made by
capturing frames out of the "Live in Tokyo" video, and I was wondering
about a few things -
1) Is this kind of thing legal? I've seen album covers and
such turned into gifs, and that seems of dubious legality...
it would seem that taking frames from a video and distributing
them might not be such a good idea from a legal point of view...
2) If I'm able to get them, does anyone have an anonymous ftp site
where I can stick them?
On an unrelated note, MTV's link on the world wide web has
an album review for Images and Words! To check it out, open a
link to http://mtv.com and look in reviews - it's pretty cool.
(Even though they only gave it a 4.5/5...*grrrr* if any album
is a 5 then it's I&W!)

seems a couple of you misunderstood me when i said i was transcribing ACOS.
I am transcribing the GUITAR part, not the lyrics. Thanks for sending me the
lyrics, but that is not what i am doing. (someone else could, 'cause alot of
those lyrics are wrong) Anyway, as soon as I get the first minute or so of
ACOS transcribed, I will post it here.

Wow! I just got DoE yesterday and it is INCREDIABLE. Finally, someone gets
the drums and base to come through correctly. Now, if this same person could
get the guitars to come through at the same time! If it's not one
instrument that's not coming through loud enough, it's another. Don't get me
wrong, I love the disc. But, at certain times (the intro to Take the Time,
for example) it needed a LOT more guitar volume. I can't even filter it up
loud enough to sound close to correct. And, too bad James' voice was shot for
disc II. But, on the whole, a good disc! I'm glad I purchased it.
Change of Seasons is amazing, isn't it?
I am going to purchase another rare import. Any recommendations (Skyway of
Nightmares, Consciously Unreal, or Live in Long Island ('92))?

Speaking of transcribing:
I'm working on Ytse Jam for bass guitar... It's all playable, there is nothing
that requires a 5-string or a 6-string... Well, you have some stretching to
do, but...
I'm sure that most of it is similar to the guitar, so if anyone knows that
part, I need some help with a couple of things, mainly, what Myung plays
when Petrucci is tremolo picking. It's similar to the main theme, but not
exactly...
I'd love to hear from ANY DT fan who plays guitar or bass (I play both)
interested in exchanging what we know. I know bits and pieces of
lots of DT... Here's the bass solo at the end of 'Learning to Live':

My band is in need of a new name. We used to be GODSPEED but we just found
out that there is another band named that. I think is either the bass
player from Skid Row or Kix and they have started a new band or produced a
new band or something like that.
I was wondering if you had any suggestions? Of course the best name has
already been taking, Dream Theater of course. I want something along that
line like Majesty (yes I know it taken, does that band still exist?), something
regal or majestic like that. Or, I would really like a cool name from a Dream
Theater song. Like Liquid Shadows, Decending Scarlet, Nervous Flashlights,
Sea of Rage. I kinda like King from Below. What do yall think of that one?
PLease offer suggestions, thanks!

Does anyone know what that funny writing is on Kev's keyboard and stand?
It looks like Japanese or something...
He is something that has got me wondering...
It's in regards to the name Dream Theater. It says in the FAQ that there was
a demo song called Dream Theater before it was a band name. Also, I believe
that it was mikes father who thought of the name Dream Theater for the band
from the name of some cinema. So did Mikes dad think of the name and they
used it for the song 1st or what?
Please clarify!
Thanks!

As long as these pictures are used for personal use, ie picture
backgounds on terminals, put up on your wall, etc.... it is ok.
It is not ok, if these images are used for profit, or if some one
claims them as their own work.
I have the complete I&W cd cover scanned in and using it as
backgrounds on my sun terminal.
I can post these files some where, if some one has a favrite site.
They are jpg files.
