I think you shouldd go for it and make this. I would definately
want a copy since I find that the older Rush video stuff is really hard
to find. As far as concert songs, Xanadu from the Roll the Bones tour
was quite good as far as video presentation goes, I don't know what is
out there as far as videos of it though. You should probably put the
version of The Weapon from the Grace Under Pressure tour though, the
intro is terribly funny and the synth is really powerful in this version.
My input for now,

Well, it seems that we've had some pretty stale threads going through lately
(with certain exceptions, of course). Instead of debating issues such as AOL
posting and proper subject matter for a DT list, I'd like to *attempt* to
change the subject to DT information! :) :) :)
Does anyone have any tour information or inklings of tour information?
When DT last toured, where in Los Angeles/Pasadena did they play? Is this
place easy to get to without a car (from Pasadena)?
While I'm on the subject, I'll repeat a question I asked before: Does anyone
know of a good music store in Pasadena where I could purchase DT on October
4th? (I'll be moving there in late September so things might get hectic, and
I don't want to miss out on the first day because I can't find a store! :) )
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!

Subject: Cynic recommendation
Hello all
To the person who asked about Cynic... I have their debut cd
"Focus" and I can heartily recommend it to anyone who is a fan of DT.
It is very aggressive at times, but the fusion-y parts make the album
just incredible to listen to. There is an instrumental called
"Textures" on the album that is VERY well done.
I'm not a death metal fan by any stretch of the imagination; yet
I do really enjoy Cynic, so check them out, I think you'll like them.
Douglas
ps - Yes, they are very talented musicians. Also, I heard they are
planning to release another album early next year; they are leaning
away from death metal and more towards the jazz fusion style.

You guys wanna shit bricks... here's one for you... I bet VERY FEW... if
not any except those I have shown... have heard this...
Listen to "11th Hour" Fates Warning from Parallels...
listen to the Chorus before the last one where it goes into acoustical...
the part that goes "Ohhhh ohhhh ohhh whoa ohhh ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh oohhhh,
and nothing's easy anymore..." and then listen to the last one RIGHT AWAY,
same chorus, sounds the same when you're listening to it straight through,
listen to EACH chorus separately, THEY ARE IN DIFFERENT KEYS!!!!

I saw Cynic here in Jacksonville on Wednesday night. I still can't believe how innovative and remarkable their sound was. The only thing that could characterize them as "death metal" would be there unique and tasteful use of death metal vocals. They do not, however, use that vocal style all the time. Instead, the death metal vocals are contrasted with the melodic voice of one of the guitar players. And speaking of the guitar players - they are two of the best I have ever seen (Petrucci included). They definitely have a lot of Holdsworth in their styles. Both guitar players use MIDI guitars and have some of the most amazing sounds at their disposal. My mouth was agape the entire evening! I was shocked! They are without a doubt the most virtuostic band I have ever seen live (Dream Theater included)!!!! I don't have their album and I hear it is extremely hard to find, but based on their live presentation every one has to get a copy. I AM SERIOUS, CYNIC IS AMAZING!!!!!!

C'mon, Jim. No need to bring the rest of us AOL'ers in on this! I could be just as accurate and say, "Typical .edu single- minded ignorance" 'cause, as you know, there are all types on the 'net. Let's be nice...
Dr. Mosh writes: //All you AOL geeks are getting on my nerves... all you do is complain... we all already know how the internet views you people from AOL, so why don't you all just shut the hell up...//
Sorry, Doc, but *I'm* not a geek. I've been on the internet for sometime now and not just on AOL. I think that Godsize de- served every bit of the various flames he got, but throughout my time here and elsewhere I've always tried to treat every- one else, no matter what their opinions or attitudes, with respect. The least you could do is give people like me on AOL who follow the proper netiquitte some credit for NOT acting like idiots.
Godsize writes: //Well Doc or should I just call you DICK//
C'mon, God, I really hate it when guys get on here JUST to be provocative and call names. Yeah, we're not on here just to make nice-nice with everyone but why waste all that energy? Is it really worth it? I've you don't want to read about sharps and flats, here's the solution: Don't read them. That's it. Simple. Move on to the next message. It might be easier if you get the digest and not the bounce version.
If you guys want to put tabs and transcriptions, that's fine with me. I just skip 'em. Besides, virtually everything here IS DT related, so why all the complaining?

Douglas I have to disagree. Cynic may be talented but I just could not get into Focus because it had such a poor production sound. Dream Theater buries these guys with their "sound". I know they are very aggressive and dynamic but the sound just kills it.
