I just saw the new Guitar for the Practicing Musician CD and Bombay Vindaloo
was on it. I'm not sure if this is the live version from LatM, or a studio
    one.

    Anyone know?

I really enjot the acoustic intro to the Killing Hand from WDADU.
Could someone please tab that up for me? I would really like to play it
on my keyboard. It has a very nice "nylon guitar" voice.
A midi file would be even better!

    Thanks!

I'm new to this group, but an avid DT fan, and couldn't help but notice that
some people are already getting to hear things off the new cd they've
got.. Does anyone have a track listing of what's on the new CD? I heard
there was one posted about 2 days before I joined the group, but I didn't
    see anything else.

Hello, yesterday i received a copy of the Dream theater
Radio Interview with Mike Portnoy....it took place
out in LA on a programed called "Nightwatch with Mike Kelly".

Anyway to get to demo news. Mike played an early demo of the song
"Caught in a Web"....at first I have to admit I thought it was kind
of strange but then 5 mins later I couldn't get the chorus out of my
head!!!! GREAT TUNE! And they've done much work to it since them so I'm
sure the finished product will be even better. Anyway the tape is around
60 mins long and it contains some funny stuff like Mike singing the end
to Surrounded. (and a funny story to go with it!).

Anyway it was a great thing, and the demo was sweet as well!
I can't wait for the new album.

I'm entertaining trades on this tape now if anyone is interested.

    Tim

    Hi all,
I promised earlier to research the availability of bootlegs here. I could
not find anywhere that had tapes, so its CD only. I went to quite a few
places, but I'm not an authority on this kind of stuff so I'm sure there are
loads of places I don't know about.
The scene seems to have changed since a year ago, the prices have come
down (maybe due to greater availability) and new short reviews with
sound quality ratings or aud/line distinctions (in Japanese). I found:
      - Classics Live
      - Dream out Loud
      - Lords of Sound
      - Lost in the Sky
      - Majesty Demos (1986)
      - Instru Mental (1987)
      - Home Sweet Home
      - Consciously Unreal
      - Excellent
      - Vol 1. (Live and Alive).
Unfortunately I could not find 'Moon Bubbles'. I asked (via a charming
Australian assistant) in the best shop about it, the manager said he had
never heard of it - and that he would have done if it were a Tokyo based
company that produced it. He said that if it is indeed a Japanese release,
then it might come from Osaka.
I now have quite a number of these (add my vote to the LiTS fan club -
but I don't have DoE), including the last two. I got these because they
were "cheap" and I'd not heard of them on the list. Basically, they are
not anywhere near the quality of the better ones.
Here is an attempt at a similar to 'boot list' style review (maybe people
could add better reviews - like performance, more details on sound quality
    etc. to the list).

Excellent, 1 CD (no country/date) NOVA NV-09 says GEMA on CD.
        Recorded in N.Y. 1993.7.22
Cheap packaging, portrait band photo on front cover. Sounds like it was
recorded by a distant stereo microphone at the back of the hall. Slight
stereo image, even quality, massive drum sound, possible DAT recording.
Deep bass notes (bass pedals?) get distorted. Concert is not same as DoL
but Galactic Cowboys are credited too. Date is possibly supported by JL
"on road for 10 months","N.Y". No close audience sound.
    ::14,12,21,11,17,49?,46,2,10,9,16

      Live and Alive Vol.1 (is there a vol.2?), 1 CD (no country/date
prob German) Imtrat medienvertrieb music gmbh. imm 40.90205
Says recorded in U.S.A in 1989 and 1992. This is not true.
Audience tape. Sound fair - worst DT boot heard. Guitar not loud, sound
not even - hear audience voices in Italian (I think). JL says "Come on
Milano(sic), let me keer(sic) you out there". This is not the LiTs
concert though. Has cover "art"(doodle) by Harald Heinrichs, Hamburg
(big deal - its two "Calvin" style faces). Not recommended. Has aFiL not
Afterlife. Could be same as Counsciously Unreal - but I don't have this.
    ::13,1,14,12,3,10,39,4,9

I hope this was useful info - maybe it could be incorporated into the boot
    list.

I was hoping to find the instrumental show, unplugged, any demos not
previously mentioned and the vocalist audition tapes but couldn't see them.

    Happy hunting.

    Martin.

Hmm..... can we like send 5 bucks to you and you could make a copy of it?
I don't really know if there is anything you'd want of mine to trade.

    Its sounds cool though.

Well, this is the last time I'm asking Tower for any info!!!
I called a real record store and they don't have it now because
they already sold IO out! Geeez... my luck really sucks this week,
although I'm glad to hear that FW is selling their albums fast.

Does anybody know if FW is going to show up at Foundations Forum this
year? I know they were there last year, shopping for the new record
    label.

    Thanks,
    Kinga
