    Hello

I would consider myself a #2. My most favorite band is Queensryche, but
I do get into Dream Theater tremendously. I saw them live with Galatic
Cowboys (who were not that good), and they rocked all night. At the concert,
the drummer of Megadeth was videotaping Dream Theater. I do not know if
he was going to consider them for an opening band or what. But it was
    one hell of a night.

I just have a hard time getting into bands like Pantera. I just cannot handle
    thrash.

I started listening to these guys when I heard 'Pull Me Under' on the
Radio, and two days later I had the album and was hooked. I didn't know until
recently that IAW was their second album. I'm currently looking for their
first. Anyone want to sell it to me?

Also, does anyone know if they are coming out with a third album? If
    so, when?

Finally, what's the deal with them never being played on the radio
anymore (it seems)? Did they bomb in the mainstream or what?

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll headline at some point...it's the
principle of the thing that bothers me...DT opening for
Queensryche...just doesn't click. Oh well. Probably a good business
move, for DT anyway...Queensryche might suffer from being so totally
blown away by their opening act...

Not that there's anything wrong with Queensryche (well, their lyrics are
annoying)...I just can't picture any band that wouldn't be totally shown
    up by DT...

    Hi everyone,
I can sell many copies of the new Dream Theater cdboot
    called "Lost in the Sky".
It's a double cd set, with the complete show in Milan
    15, november 1994 (approx. 115 mins long).
This cd sounds like a Soundboard recording because is an
Italian Radio Broadcast (without people speaking on).

     This are the prices:

    for EUROPE: 60$ (postpaid)
for USA & OTHERS: 65$ (postpaid)

'till now I can get money through VISA card, because we have
some problems with the high fees. You can pay thorough IMO.

ps: can anyone send me the correct email address of JAY (Inferno)?

    bye

    Subject: Enchant

Have any of you heard of a band called Enchant? I don't suppose you have.
I just bought their (debut?) album the day before yesterday and I have to
    say it rocks.
I went into the local import-cd shop and asked the shopkeeper if he had
any new DT stuff. He only had the japanese version of LatM, but he had
two new CD's he wanted me to hear. He said they both sound a lot like DT.
I don't remember the name of the other band (sorry), the CD was actually
an EP. The music was kinda straightforward, not too progressive.
The other one was a CD called "A Blueprint of the World" by a band called
Enchant. I bought the disc and after listening to it for a few days I
have to say I agree with the shopkeeper. This really does sound a lot
like DT. Not as metal, though. Especially the guitar sound is 'rockish'
compared to that of Portnoy's in many tunes, like PMU.
I also think this sounds a bit like the Galactic Cowboys. The vocalist
lacks the talent of LaBrie (who wouldn't? ;)), but his voice has got enough
power and strength to make it pleasant to listen. Also like GC, the
backing vocals are quite loud and they are there often.
And, as they are not even as metal as DT, they're not nearly as metal as GC.
But they're good. A lot more progressive than GC, of course.
Most of the tracks are around 6-7 minutes long, and there are lots of
    instrumental parts.
So far the weakest point of their music has been the level of the lyrics.
Mostly about love and pointless shit like that ;-)

Now I'll give you some info on the CD, in case some of you might want to
try and get hold of it somehow. I think it's worthwhile.

The CD is recorded in 1993, the company is "Dream Circle Records"
It's distributed in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Intercord Record
Service (Stuttgart), in the Benelux countries it is distributed by DURECO,
and in Great Britain by "Now and Then"..
Not a word about the States, though. The "code", I don't know what it
is officially called, is "DCD 9310"

So, try to get it if you can. If you already own this cd or have heard
of the band (I doubt it), I'd like to hear your opinions.

Only thing is that I get need the Metallica fix more often than the Rush, though I love them both. In fact I just saw Rush last Tuesday and I'm seeing Metallica this summer. Now, if I can top that off by seeing Dream Theater in the fall I can die a happy man. :-)

Folks, I've recieved less than half the checks I was suppose to get. I know the digest didnt go out for a couple of days, but PLEASE send me your check ASAP. As it is, I cannot cover the extra cost of the shirts, and I really dont want to "downgrade" them to less colors, etc.

SO please, if you ordered a shirt, send me a check before friday. I will make the final decision then.

This is sort of on-topic since these bands and DT are fairly related...

anyone notice that the Galactic Cowboys give King's X a plug in the liner notes of their first album? In the "letters of lyrics" one of them is addressed to "King's Crossing Station 1 Silent Planet Way Gretchen, Nebraska"

    thought that was worth mentioning.

    Greetings, all...

I was just browsing about in my selection of heavy metal and "other" recordings and came across something that DEFINITELY deserved mention during the somewhat recent thread about different Progressive Metal groups/recordings.

Helstar, "NOSFERATU" definitely deserves honorable mention. It's fantastic music. It doesn't involve much keyboard work at all, really but it DOES feature some greatly classically-influenced acoustic gui- tar work and some piano as well. The singing is superb, very meticu- lously crafted. Half the album is concept, based on Bram Stoker's "Dracula" (no kidding... :> ) and the other half is just very cool material. Definitely high points on the album are "Baptized in Blood" "The Curse Has Passed Away" and also "Aleria and Everron"(sp?).

    Definitely check this one out!!!
