[I've already responded with Meghan A. Middleton and
buckley@powdml.ENET.dec.com's directions. If anyone else needs
    them, they're in issue 1181--send:

    get ytsejam ytsejam.1181

to ytsejam-request@arastar.com with a subject of "asdf" to receive
    them.--kbibb]

    It's official - I AM AN IDIOT!!

I lost the directions to El 'n Gee's and the hotel we're
    meeting at before the show.

The fate of at least 3 concert-goers rests in my hands, so
please - if anyone has a copy handy, E-mail them to me ASAP so I
    can send them out.

Hope to see everyone at the meet-n-greet/show - providing I find
    my $%^&*%@ car keys. :)

[I also forwarded directions to Jason. He still needs lodging info,
though. The instructions for all three gigs is in issue 1181
as mentioned in the previous post.--kbibb]

COuld someone please post (or preferablly) mail the directions to
the NJ DT show at the Birch HIll. Where are you all staying at?
I got some info from AAA and they didn't list any hotels in Old Bridge,
maybe they only list AAA recommeded hotels. The closet one was in
    New Brunswick.

Also, if you are attending any of the upcoming DT shows, PLEASE don't
spoil anything for the rest of us who haven't gone yet. If you want
to post something like the set list or the return of Kev or something,
please put ****SPOILER***** in your subject line.

Once January hits, then you can post all you want.

    Thanks alot!

Trey Allen....I for one wish I could attend theYtsecon II . You put in a LOT of hard work to get this together. Too bad DT's management has their head up their ass. I am sure radio station promos are important, as are photo shoots....but_Nothing_counts like fan loyalty...and we have it! I have a feeling that the band was not aware of what you were trying to put together.

Mike Bahr...I hope you get hold of Portnoy....I am sure if he knew the situation all of the guys would show.

All you guys who were going to attend PLEASE show up and meet an elite group of people, like yourself, who cared enough to show. Going to see a concert is one thing...taking the time and trouble to meet before the show is a _step up_! Again Trey, thanks from someone who can't attend but would kill to be there. Dream Theater Rules.....the guy you talked to and lied to you is an ASSHOLE!!

Mark Metzger...I hope you enjoy the concert I cannot attend...have a good time and then please burn in hell. Ignore that last comment if you have a DAT of the concert, or video, or both. Your friend( if you have something for me)...Warren in Oregon

as for the "yes tribute", aka "Tales From Yesterday", this is who does what on it:

Robert Berry: Roundabout / Stanley Snail: Siberian Khatru / Steve Morse: Mood For A Day / Magellan: Don't Kill The Whale / Steve Howe & Annie Haslam: Turn Of The Century / Shadow Gallery: Release, Release / World Trade: Wonderous Stories / Cairo: South Side Of The Sky / Patric Moraz: Soon / Enhant: Changes / Pete Banks: Astral Traveler / Steve Morse: The Clap / Jeromino Road: Starship Trooper

it's an awsome tribute. Some of the bands stick very close to the Yes version, others don't. It's definatly (IMHO) something to pick up.

Just read Dr. Teeth's diatribe about Ytsejam now being moderated.

Not sure if this is true or not -- but I'd like to add my 0.02 that is it IS moderated, THANK YOU.

Personally, I was sick and friggin tired of wading through screens and screens of bullshit about regilion, sexual orientation, and all sorts of other shit that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Dream Theater.

Let's face it, the signal to noise ratio on ytsejam went right down the shitter. Kudos to Ken or whoever put a stop to the insanity!!!

DT fans should *definitely* check out Superior's CD, "Behind".

You've probably seen Bernd Basmer mention that his band Superior has recently released their CD. I've been listening to it for a while now, and it keeps growing on me. I'm certain that many other DT fans would also really enjoy this disc.

It's got a lot of great, heavy guitar combined with some nice acoustic passages. And the keyboards are also superb. The combination of the guitar, keyboards and intricate rhythms reminds me of DT, but they definitely have their own sound (not a DT sound-alike). The guitar is generally heavier than DT, but it's mixed in with enough acoustic work and keyboards that it doesn't get to be too much.

When I first got it, I had no idea what to expect. The most pleasant surprise was the excellent vocals. Usually for me it's the singer that determines if I'll like a band a lot -- I was impressed by Superior's singer right away. The er, superior vocals ;) combined with the great music keeps the disc repeatedly in my CD player.

I highly recommend Superior, and it has the extra advantage of having Ytsejam's Bernd Basmer in the band! :-). Has anyone else out there heard this CD? I'll be curious to hear what you think.

    Steve

P.S. The production is fantastic, very professional.

P.P.S. Info on how to get the CD:

I just called Strawberries to get tickets for the Dec. 30 show. If you live around Worcester, MA, I called the Shrewsbury Strawberries and they didn't have them but the Westboro store does. El-N-Gee is calling Shrewsbury to get it straightened out. Anyway, the price I got was $10 + 1.50 charge CASH Only.

I wonder how many people are going to the Dec. 30 show (I missed the 27th) and if anyone's interested in organizing some kinda get together before the show. Since it's Saturday, maybe not too many people be pressed for time - work and all. I don't know where we could get together though because I'm not from New London.

Also, special thanks to Mark Metzger for posting all the details. I'm reposting his message for anyone who missed it.

--------- Begin Repost --------------- Second Show at the El-N-Gee !!!!

The El-N-Gee club in New London, CT has booked another show with Dream Theater on Saturday, December 30th !!

This show's particulars are as follows: Tickets are $12.00, available at Strawberry's (locally) or through the club, itself. Doors open at 8:00. And, for the youth in the audience, the good news is that the show will be booked as 16+ !!!!

If you would like to verify this or get more information, call the club directly at 860-437-3800. I was able to order tickets twice to the 12/27 show by sending along a SASE and money order, so I would assume that the same policy would apply for this show also. --------- End Repost --------------- --Marc Respass

Hello all! I hate to air dirty laundry, but I feel that when someone makes an agreement to do a tape trade and after countless reminders fails to live up to their end of the bargain, it should be made known. Having traded progressive music for years, I cannot recall a single other person who I have had this much trouble with. I don't want to go into the boring details here, but in a nutshell, Krys Fuell of Massachusets entered into a trade agreement swapping some Marillion audio for her video some 4 months ago, and has yet to send me the tape she owes me. There have been apologies for the delay, promises that the tape was sent, promises that the tape was resent, etc, etc. You get the picture. Recently, as my patience has diminished, my correspondence with Krys has resulted in her just completely ignoring me.

It's a shame that in a genuinely nice "community" of fans/traders of music, a pathetic little compulsive liar like Krys needs to exist. I'm off the soapbox. Trade with Krys Fuell at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Happy New Year to all of you.

Well, it might be the part that sounds like classical music. :) The part we're talking about is the original version of "The Inevitable Summer". I think the times are around 14:00-18:00 or something like that, around there anyway. There's a guitar solo, then some dual guitar/keys stuff, then a keyboard solo, and then a cool, very classical sounding keyboard riff...

    >Does anyone know what groups play on the following tribute cds: > >"Supper's Ready" - Tribute to Genesis >"Tales From Yesterday" - Tribute to Yes >"The Moon Revisited" - Tribute to Pink Floyd > >Does anyone have them? Any good?

The above albums were released by the Magna Carta label and all three feature the Magna Carta bands:

Shadow Gallery Magellan Enchant Cairo World Trade

There are other bands on each CD as well. I don't have the Genesis one, so I can't give you the list for that CD, but here's the info for the other CDs:

"The Moon Revisited" -- The Tribute to Pink Floyd includes (in addition to the above bands) Robert Berry, Dark Side of the Moon, and Billy Sherwood. The CD is a remake of "Dark Side of the Moon" and is well done, but it's too close to the original for my tastes. The "Great Gig in the Sky" rendition is fantastic though (which surprised me).

"Tales From Yesterday" -- The Tribute to Yes includes (in addition to the Magna Carta bands) Steve Morse, Robert Berry, Kevin Gilbert (in Stanley Snail), Steve Howe (guests on two songs), Annie Haslam, Patrick Moraz, Peter Banks, and Adam Wakeman (Rick's son) in Jeronimo Road.

I think that "Tales From Yesterday" is superb. A number of the songs would be good even if you didn't know the original. Some are a close tribute to the original, while others add a modern sound or otherwise differ while still retaining the sense of the original. Extremely well done. If you like Yes or the Magna Carta bands, get it.

I'm not sure how good the Genesis CD is -- but I intend to get it.

    Steve
