All right, this is my last post on this subject, except maybe later
to thank everyone for their help. First, my "name" is Feyd, with a 'Y' not
a 'W', Ikkleswick. My real name is Mark, Feyd is Sting's character in the
movie Dune. Next, I'm not too concerned what technique is for what
instrument... By studying what classical guitarists do, I want to learn a
new approach to playing bass. They're on to something, I'm sure, and it can
probably be modified for use on bass. Back to the woodshed for me...
Anyone have a good way of telling whether my bass neck is warped, which way,
and which direction I should turn the truss rod to fix it? My bass tends to
go into an upbow...and it's buzzing like crazy.

Can we PLEASE find a way to squelch those stupid, cheezy, unwanted, hassle to

morons??? Mass Email JUNK mailing on the internet is somewhat forbidden, and
many servers have strict rules against it. If someone out there is an expert
on tracking the origination of the posts from Lucy and her friends, please
help. I would LOVE to get them banned from net all together:) (to those of
you who may consider that too harsh, think about where they are posting their
propaganda. I didn't subscribe to Ytsejam to recieve the same unwanted crap
that I find in my snail mailbox when I get home from work everyday)

I apologize to the genuine Jammers/readers here for taking up space, but I
want to find I way to track these idiots down! I'm pissed!

I am posting in regard to the John Myung question. I do agree w/ the
recent post that when they say he's using his fingers and NOT a pick. A
bass is not meant to be played w/ a pick! I also agree in that he uses
his index and middle fingers the most and he also uses the ring finger
every once in a while. The point of using the ring finger would be in
playing triplets. It's pretty hard to using in any other situation
because when you use three fingers you almost have to play some pattern
in a triple duple. I think you should be able to play fast enough w/
just two fingers. The thumb should not be used. The only times the
thumb should be used is if you were playing a chord(which doesn't occur
on a bass too often, except when Myung uses it in TTT). Well, that's my
opinion, I hope some other bass players will give their feedback on the
    subject as well.

Aw, what the hell- I have nothing better to do.

Yes, Dale. Pull Me Under WAS inspired by Hamlet, and the amazing
coincidence you were talking about is probably the line from the play
that James sings at the end. Check out the FAQ at the DT we page for

I agree with you on the matter on general, if they want to call theater
theatre, let them. I have been in acting for several years now, and even
though I'm American, it was always theatre to us. However, we aren't
talking about theatre in general here, we are talking about Dream
Theater. They have been very insistant that it should be spelled ER, not
RE, and we owe them that much for all the great music they have given
us. Dream Theater is not a noun, it's a *proper* noun. It's the name of
a band, and it has a specific spelling, no matter what country you hail
from. It's the same reason we call you "Scott" and not "scott." Proper
nouns have a proper spelling, and it doesn't stop at captialization.
They want to be Dream Theater. They *are* Dream Theater.

something about it on the jam awhile ago but I forget. Ben
told me it was in NY but I would like an exact location. Is
it in NY state or NY city. If it is in NY state where is
this going to be held. Also if anyone knows of an exact
place where this will be held that would be appreciated
    also. Thankyou for your time.

On the topic of that guy whou CD HQ screwed over.

The people at BMG must be idiots...

So I send in a signup to BMG. 3-4 weeks later I get this letter listing
my selections that they do have in and saying that since so many of my
selections that were not available I had to rechoose some. No problem, right?

Well I look at my selections that they do have in and there is some cd
called Tony Tonie Tone-Who? I am like what the hell is that? So I look
at what I had really selected and it should have been Rush-Hemisperes, they
    got 2 numbers mixed up.

The letter says to just write on the letter my new selections. So I do
and I also write on the letter that they mixed up the number of the Rush cd.

Well on Friday, my cds come and low and behold: thje Tony Tonie Tone cd is
there instead of Rush. what a bunch of idiots. Also 2 cds that I rechose
weren't there and there was no mention that it was a partial order. I am
hoping that the other two come or else my nasty letter will become really
    nasty...

Yesterday I learned barfbag on guitar, from LiT... and then I looked at an
old GW column where JP transcribed some parts of that song, to see if I had
figured it out right, and guess what? those lines aren't anywhere on the
song... could it be that what me thinks is barfbag really isn't? also, on
the column, it's in C, and in LiT it's in B...but I don't think that matters
because he could've easily transposed it to fit in the TLF-AFiL transition
(TLF's in B and AFiL starts in it)

Anybody have bootlegs where he plays barfbag? is it just that he's changed a
    lot throughout time??

I'm irked by these ads too. But, it in the "Welcome To Ytsejam" message, it
    says:

Welcome to YTSEJAM, the Dream Theater mailing list! This list
is for fans of Dream Theater, and will discuss them and any
            related topics.

The magazine poster (as in one who posts) could say that they carry Guitar
World. Guitar World, as we all know by now, has a column by John Petrucci.
Thus, there is DT content, albeit indirectly. I'm not saying that I approve of
these ads, I'm just showing a possible argument. I'd rather see TIE Fighters,
mutant chickens, warrior knights, and funny people in mirrors than some magazine
ads. And I was against the sig. wars! Another point of interest, also in the
    "Welcome To Ytsejam" message:

            AUTOMATIC UNSUBSCRIPTION
                       ------------------------

I will unsubscribe you if one of the following happens:

            1) I get "User Unknown" or other bounces from your site for
                3 consecutive days

            2) You receive a warning and ignore it.

You'll receive a warning if you spam the list with an unrelated
ad (Olga, incense sticks, etc). You'll not receive one for
posting ads for stuff related to the list (albums, etc).

So, if the powers that be (Skadz) deem this an "unrelated ad", the problem
should take care of itself. If the magazine poster isn't subscribed to the 'Jam
though, I guess there's nothing we can do unless the list became moderated
    again.

    >>What the hell is wrong with you people?!?!?!?!!? Why are all the Metal bands >>being refered to as Wankers? It sounds like some redneck term that I'd hear >>in ARKVILLE!!!!!I know this is your opinion, and this is my opinion...YOUR >>OPINION SUCKS!!!! :) Have a nice day. Thank you, drive through. >> >>Brian > >Listen you imbecile, don't do what Matt did and put words in my mouth. I didn't >refer to _all_ metal bands as wankers, just Megadeth. I once referred to >Pantera as a bunch of wankers, much to RipZero's dismay. So, I stopped >referring to Pantera as wankers out of courtesy. If you had read one of my >previous messages about this matter, you would know that I like some metal >bands. Megadeth is not one of them. Any band that refers to one of my favorite >band's music (Queensryche) as "music for pussies" does not deserve my attention, >time, or even bandwith for that matter, even if it's their opinion. So, I think >your opinion of my opinion SUCKS!

Now YOU listen here you fucknut. I never said that you said all metal bands are wankers. I wanted to know why that is your term for all the metal bands you don't like. And so what if they don't like Queensrche (Hi Rip, thanx!). I like Rche too. Just because they called them music for pussies means they're wankers? i think not. I think Scott Cook will back me up on this one.

    >Now chill out and go post 47 messages in a >row.

Eh he he he. Good one, ass wipe. I'd really do that, but I don't want to piss of the jammers in ACK.

Quick reality check...DT is not an up-and-coming band. They have a major record deal, have recorded four albums, and have gone platinum on two of them in Japan. When STP played with Megadeth opening, the only song which I had ever heard from the album was "Sex Type Thing," and only then because it was getting airtime on MTV, not local radio.

    > Scottie Cook

Yes, you actually ARE wrong. What if your employer spelled your name Scotty Cooke on your W-2 form, the IRS never got the information of your wages, and they hunted you down and SHOT you? (OK, a little exaggerated, but you get the point) Dream Theater is a proper noun (the specific name of a specific person, place, or thing), and just because those in Western Europe spell your name Scotty Cooke doesn't make it right.
