Hey everyone(well just the people on this list anyway ;)

Ok I went out of my house last night and didn't come home till all of
little FL, NJ was in flames(not the band). While I was out I listened to
some "nad rok" -ing bands(thanks Mape). And I have some comments...

I think Angra's singer sounds close to Zak Stevens(Savatage). I thought
all the Angra's band members are from Brazil. How the hell does this guy
not have *any* accent? Anyway I think the band just average(j/k).

I also, think(I can heard the rocks grinding now) that Crimson Glory's
singer sounds like Geoff Tate(Queensr˙che). Again I like it.

What's up with Skyclad they sound like an irish folk gone eletric. But
it was awesome because I had just been to a little family gathering and
being 100% Irish, you can guess what I was listening to. I think I'll
never get Danny Boy out of my head(and to answer any questions, NO that
has no, I mean, NOOOOOO sexual meaning in it whatsoever).

I also got this morning the new Megadeth. Now if you have keeping track
I haven't been impressed with my last couple of Megadeth CDs. I first
    got Youthaisa(sp?) and while I didn't completey hate it, I don't exactly
play it to often either. I got Peace Sells... but I very much disliked
it(I'm trying not to use the HATE ;). But I really am impressed with
Cryptic Writings. Very song is good. I think Dave's voice fits all of
the songs, too. I can hear the bass, oh my god, that's original, wait
that means their progressive. ;) There is even a little jazzy tune "Have
Cool, Will Travel" I think this is one of the best songs on the CD!

Ok, I'm sure everyone wants to listen to DT on the radio well MOVE TO
NJ. No joke! Hey there's no sales tax, and there's a radio station here
called WSOU 89.5 that is awesome. The DJ starts to play Met Part 1(I've
actually heard them play this once before last summer). Then it ends and
he says he wants to play another DT song so UAGM intro starts, this is
also about when my town had a little roit ;-D

On one last thing if you're responding to someone's post and you start
to go off on the original writer, guess what, you should write to them.
It doesn't happen here as much as it used to. But I started to see a
couple of posts like this on the 'jam lately and I thought we should try
not to start flames. This includes posting under someone else's name,
complaining about Vince :) , or any other "concocked jumble" of this
    nature.

Just wanted to make mention that I found the latest and long awaited
"World Party" album "Enclave" to be a very pleasant treat. I know...
it 'taint progressive rock, but it is chock full of great songwriting
and very tasty musicianship, and even a guitar solo or two.

    Now... onto DT content...
I was watching, once again, "I & W, Live in Tokyo." Everytime I
spin the vid, I just get mesmerized, with chills running up and down
my spine during the breakdown/guitar solo of "To live forever." It's
nothing fancy, nothing loud, nothing even that flashy, just a simple
exploration of a chord, but it sure is one of my all time favorite DT
    bits.

    Good Day.

I just got a Sony MZ-R30 portable minidisc recorder, and I was wondering if
there were any jammers out there that have had any experience making
audience recordings with the minidisc format. I'm looking for any tips and
also any specific reccomendations for what microphones to use.

Please respond privately, thanks in advance

DTC:I think Just Let Me Breathe is a real mover and shaker, I hope they use

in an edited format. (blasphemy, I know) A big thank you to Tim L. for

I don't want to take up an entire jam with an explanation as to how =
stupid this whole thing is, because there is no way it could be nearly =
as good as Bafu's (I'm still laughing). Long arguments that have shown =

a frontal lobotomy, but then posting again....

I probably should have used scales from this universe in my
example. The construction of these are extremely complex but rather
interesting. A guy named Tib Van Dyke came up with a system to construct
every possible scale. It is rather complex and I will explain it later
this week when my brain is turned on. Isn't it amazing how perfect music
is. Everything falls into simple neat organized mathmatical systems.
It's like god is looking down on musicians and laughing because musicians
think they are hot shit for coming up with it and using it.
Its cool to know the theory behind what sounds cool. It opens
creative doors. But the ultimate musician just plays what fuck they feel

    Hey,
I just wanted to voice my opinion of Sammy Hagar:
    1. He's an honest joe just trying to make a buck in the business of music.
Van Halen is dishonest but they rock.
    2. Sammy didn't have the stage presence of DLR but he had years on him
    (literally) with his music capability.
    3. Van Halen (specifically Eddie and Alex) are a couple of liars. I don't
belive a word out of their mouths.
    4. Sammy is better on his own.
    5. "Little White Lie" is a fantasic song, that sums it all up. It is much
heavier than his usual solo stuff but, it's what he has been used to for
the last 15 or so years of his life. Van Halen has had a profound affect
on his music writing and more, his life.
If you want to argue or agree with this, do it by private e mail...Enough
    already! : )
                                            That's about it,

    >A lengthy re-post, yes.
Is this and the following long enough re-posts?

    >Firstly, I cheer loudest at all moments of a Steve Vai performance.
Secondly, >since you haven't specified an audience, I'm going to assume that
    your post >refers to me.
When I referred to an audience, I meant a general one. I have seen my share
of concerts and heard my share of bootlegs. The faster the solo, the louder
the audience gets. This post was also a self-indulgent rant, too. I have
many friends into simple music. When I play the music I listen to, to them,
I hear those comments about arrogance that I accused you of. I have to vent
every now and then. I applaud you for being able to maintain a steady volume
over a whole concert. Are you taking vocal lessons from JL?

    >I MEANT that you can't tell what Petrucci is thinking during his clinics,
but >it's clear that any performer puts together a performance based on what
they >think the audience will want to hear.
I guess I am guilty of "perusing" or scanning the Jam. :)

    >"But I'm not finished, because now I'm gonna play it...FASTERRRR!!!"
    Showmen >show-off.
When you said this, I took it as a negative statement. Also, I thought you
inferred that showing off was arrogant.

No guitarist should have to deal with this "arrogant" stereotype unless he
says in a Swedish accent, "I am ze greatest geetarist in ze vorld." :)

I just got back from the Rudess Morgenstein Project's mini concert and
clinic at the Guitar Center in Dallas!! Let me tell you I was litterally
blown away!!!! These two guys have great chemistry together and can really
    jam!!!!
They started out with a little history of the "band" duo and then proceeded
with the first tune!! About half way through it, the power went out!! They
were playing soooo hard and loud that the power supply clicked off!! The song
they were playing was pretty complicated and down right awesome! So then when
the power comes back on Jordan had to reload all the sounds to the keyboard
while Rod gave us all a little background and funny stories. Then they start
to play the same song over again and ,guess what, the power goes off again.
Rod decides to do a little demonsration of how to keep an inner pulse going
on when playing in odd times. He proceeds to start off playing pretty straight
forward jams and then gradually goes all out into a full blown solo that goes
all over the place. The amazing thing is that the whole time he is counting
out loud,1,2,3,4!!!!!!!!! He never lost it!! Then they finished out the night
    without anymore power outages.
Anyone who is a DT fan will want to get their new cd that comes out this
September. All the stuff is right down our alley. Elements of rock, heavy
    metal,funk,jazz,fusion,pretty much everything!!!!

I am worn out from listening!!!!

There will be no more posts about anything regarding music.

No threads about how great one guitarist is compared to another,
no threads about people who don't want to rate 'em
no threads from the initial posters who flame the complainers
no threads from the initial flamers (uh...you know what I mean) to
    counterflame....

Instead of labeling music as 'good' or 'bad', we shall use instead the
terms, 'Sucky' and 'Cool'. Well shall not rate music but instead, the
    posters who support those styles.

    The guidelines are as follows:
Anybody into ska and punk: Mainstream close minded idiots.
Any fans of Metallica and Megadeth, and metal in general: Barbarious
neanderthal brutes with dysfunctional hearing and lack of taste.
Fans of Dream Theater: The Supreme Race.
Fans of progressive music: Music nerds.

There will be no more political correctness. Your feelings will be
hurt. You will be offended. Bafu Vai will not make any more sense than
he does now. THis is not a warning, but the facts of life.

Every body will post using D-man's .sig file, and everybody will select a
gender and sexuality to post in. I find it easiest to post as a
    heterosexual male, personally.

    That is all.

         Hi,

Just to add to the possible thread that Jon Parmet mentioned - there
are so many great DT bits (like everything they've ever done!) but how
about "I'm lying here in bed..." etc in Voices or "Pours his soul into
the water..." from Lifting Shadows or maybe the "Goodbye" from ACOS.

Well, got to tell ya about BONUS TRACK on "CRYPTIC WRITING" by MEGADETH.
The Jpn-ver. includes one bonus track titled "One Thing".

And bought new Ratt today. Their new release is self-compilation album --
some newly recorded tracks and old tracks. It's nice for me to remember
good ol' days of my life by listening this disc. There's no cheesy feeling
that metal bands of 80s had, but this album really bring me back to 80s.
The FEELING. The AIR. Whatever you wanna call.

Here's track list for your help:
    COLLAGE by RATT
    1.Steel River
    2.Dr. Rock
    3.Diamond Time Again
    4.RATT Madness
    5.Hold Tight
    6.I Want It All
    7.Mothers Blues
    8.Top Secret (Original Version)
    9.Take It Anyway
10.Lovin' You ... Fonic Mix LP version!
    11.She's Got Everything (Bonus Track)

And Michael Monroe and Jerusalem Slim:
Yeah, yeah! Michael hates this album for heavy metalish guitar sound and
metalic arrangement. Michael Wagner (known as his work with Dokken,Skid
Row,Testament, Accept etc....) did produce this sound. And I like this
rotator for Steven's Metallic Guitar Work.

     Thank You.
