I want to make sure i am buying the right thing. Does Finneus Gauge, you
know, featuring former members of Echolyn, have an album out called More
once More? If so, CDnow has it for $13 or so. I want to buy it, but CDNow
has no info on it. Can anybody help me?

Part 4: What REALLY happened with Derek...

As far as what happened with Derek goes, there were absolutely no hard
feeling and it was a very hard thing for us to do. All four of us really
admire him and like him as a person, and it was a hard thing to do to let
him go. But, it was really just a business decision we decided that Jordan
was what we wanted and where we wanted to take the band in the future.
After John and I worked with him we thought why should we work with him part
time, let's work with him full-time. And it wasn't out of disrespect to
Derek, it was just what we thought was better for the band.

And if we didn't give ourselves that opportunity to try it, we would feel
short-changed. It's not like some of our previous members that never went
on to do anything, sort of just disappeared, ot did very low-key things.
Derek has always played with great people, he's always got great gigs, he
knows alot of people so, we're confident he'll continue his career playing
with whomever. There were no hard feelings, and honest I'm not
bullshitting. There's no other story behind it! Everyone saw the press
release and went "What's the real story?" But what the press release says is
the real story; there's nothing else behind it.

Hey, I'm a procrastinator. I'm only a week late with April Fools. :)

I must first say that anyone who needs metal in the bay area should go to Rasputin's in Berkeley or Concord. They have tons of shit, lots of black metal and all the power/prog bands.

I picked up NIGHTWISH's 'Angels Fall First' and SYMPHONY X's 'Damnation Game' both USED for $17 total.

NIGHTWISH is awesome. It takes a second to adjust to opera vocals. Great atmosphere and playing. Pick this album up. I need to find 'Oceanborn' now. They can use stronger male singing, that guy should stick with playing his instrument. ALso, another guitar will help thicken the guitar sound a little.

The Symhpony X is pretty good. Nothing really to get too excited about. If I heard this a few years ago, I would have been really excited. Great playing but too similar to MALMSTEEN and STRATOVARUIS, etc.

I also read a rumor that said DIO would play with SABBATH/OZZY on their final show in LA. KICKK ASSSSSS

First of all thanks to all who gave me some info on Queensryche, I'm definetly buying it. I almost wish I hadn't posted the question though. Thats because its brought on this whole debate about whether certain bands are prog or not prog. I just don't see the point of all the classifying, a good band is a good band, no matter what the label. Also, that person who totally trashed Queensryche, there is no point to that either. Its fine for you to not like a band, but you shouldn't just blatantly trash a band. Oh well, thanks again to the people who replied.

    Hello. For anyone interested:

I have the German (?) version of Dream Theater's Hollow Years single CD featuring two versions of Hollow Years, a demo of You Not Me called You or Me, and an unreleased demo called The Way It Used to Be.

I would like to trade said CD for an original (not CD-R) of either DT's 1997 Christmas Fan Club CD or InstruMental I.

Interested parties please email me offlist and please excuse the waste of bandwidth.

I immediately stopped and said "what did you just say" and she told me. She said her ex-boyfriend, or something like that, was practically in love with the band, so I was like "hell yeah." ><

I was in my local `The Wall` a few weeks ago and Trial of Tears was playing over the store speakers. That was a fun DT moment. I started talking to the clerk, but she was quite attactive, so I just found myself saying, "uh, um, i mean, duh" etc.

Since I and both my bro-in-laws like Rush, I said "Anyone who like Rush is more than welcome to date my sister" (Well, not ANYone, but she doesn't know anyone on the jam) Then Sunday night he comes over to see her and he's wearing an Awake tour shirt and I'm like, "When's the wedding?!" ~Trevor

    >night he comes over to see her and he's wearing >an Awake tour shirt and I'm like, "When's the wedding?!"

Isn't it absolutely sick, don't you think? *in his perfect Alanis voice*

I think many of us are like this. We listen to these real talented bands and such and it's an incredibly strong bond between all of us die-hards. It's like if I see someone walking down the road wearing a DT shirt, it's like instant friendship. Even though there are times when I've walked up to someone wearing an Awake shirt and said "Nice shirt" they just think I'm gay and hitting on them, most of the time people get all excited to hear it mentioned. I wear a Majesty button on my hat as an open invite for any DT fans to come up and say, "Hey, kickass!" :)

I think it's a little sick and something of a disgusting psycological disorder. Almost narcissistic in a way. And in the end, it's kind of cool. We're elitists or something. :)

It's kind of like how I feel some sort of strange understanding between any scumbags I see with long hair around here. Maybe it's just because there are so few of us, that we feel we need to stick together. Maybe it's not sick, but simply instinctive. Anyway, I've gotta head to work.

I'll let that thought just sit in there and bounce around fot the day. -- KorgX3 thinks lesbians make great pillows.

    Hey all,

i guess i need some help. I just returned from my english-classes ( conversation ). For next week everybody has to prepare a topic, introduce it to the course and then discuss it. So i want to do a lyric analization of Space-Dye Vest. First i think it is a great chance to introduce DT to other people, second i love this song. I would be glad if some of you could post me your thoughts about the song, the music, the text. I would like to have many different interpretations to give the class an idea where to start. Otherwise i think there is maybe no discussion. You can post me privatly Gregor+AEA-rz-online.de or to the list, but i need your comments until monday. I hope to receive a lot of interesting thoughts and i am grateful for everyone. I am pretty sure that it will be an interesting class, and maybe one or two want to hear more of this great music.

    Thanks

So i want to give them the text of Space-Dye Vest for analization, also to listen of course. I would like to have comments from you about this song, so i can give the class different points of view to get them started. Please write me your interpretation, also about the relation text-sound, i am really interested in it. You can send it to me Gregor+AEA-rz-online.de or to the list, whatever you prefer. I need it until monday, so i hope to receive as many mails as possible. Thanks for your supply

I have the entire site re-indexed once a week. Ghostland's interview with Jordan Rudess was only added a few days ago and isn't in there yet... Just for fun, take a look at my new Spock's Beard site "Strange World"... It uses the same search engine service to allow people to search the lyrics for keywords... :)

I hadn't heard about it myself until I read the interview. The concert will be mentioned on the Tour Information page as soon as I have more details.

I wouldn't call them a jazz version of DT as DT is a very structured band, and Tribal Tech is very off the cuff. I have many tapes of them live, and they never play the same thing twice. They are a tremendous band, but if you are looking for DT expect to be disappointed. If you are looking for a great fusion band influenced by Mahavishnu Orchestra, and along the same experimental lines as Hellborg, Lane and Sipe and Allan Holdsworth, you will be extremely pleased.
