After praising it up and down and then listening to it
again today after some of the criticisms here, I'll
add these two points about 'Universe'

I like the album, but there is ZERO variety on it.
It's really the same rock/riffing/fusion for eleven
straight 4 to 5 minute tracks. With the exception of
the quiet break in the middle of 'King of the
Universe', there's not really anything to distinguish
one tune from another. 'Thanks guys, I like it, but
the next one better not be a repeat of this...' I
mean, riff-riff-riff-solo-riff-riff gets a little old
    after eleven tunes...

Donati: You can tell he's a jazz guy at heart (he is)
because he plays largely in the pocket and doesn't
really move from it. He has quick hands, but he
doesn't use them very often, leaving most of the
complexity in his playing to his feet. Say what you
want about Portnoy, but Mike's playing is a surprise
from album to album. Not so with Donati. I WORSHIPED
his playing on the first PX, but I also knew EXACTLY
what I was getting from him on the second before even
hearing it, you know what I mean?

    Mike

Hey, i heard that Jude was opening for some chick called Dido, strange it
comes up here. Jude is the most amazing singer/songwriters i've ever heard.
the songs come from the heart with unbelieveable emotion and his voice is
incredible. Anyone else heard him? Did he open at the concert that the guy
talked about in D.C? oh well, let me know

I'd imagine so. She's the one who responds to the e-mails. The past 2 updates

I was on InsideOuts website and noticed the striking similarity
between the new Spocks and new SyX albums. Besides the fact that
they both have the same album title, the covers are similar as well...

    take a look...

I felt the same way when Christina Applegate cut her hair while still on TV's Married with Children. Heartbroken. I feel your pain...

Folks: My band, id, has placed two mp3 samples on the web. We really want to get opinions and reactions from a wide array of listeners. (And that's the Jam. :) Please travel over to http://id.fm and follow the sound samples link to get a taste of "Fun House" and "Inside Joke (in Cm)", and let us know what you think. Also, if you like what you hear, feel free to join our mailing list (follow the link from the main page for details). Thanks! -d NP: id/"Fun House" mp3

Its one of the funniest moments ever IMO, the boot is > funny, they play this bad 3 minutes of covers, including a screwed up > version of "dance the night away" form VH. I don't think JP > really knew > it, so it came out wrong. As James said "What do look like a fucking > jukebox?" And then said this has turned into spinal tap. heheheh Gotta > love Labrie.

Well, maybe you had to be there to have the full effect - stud-master was there - hehehehe ;)

Actually, this was James at about his worst in terms of crowd interaction. It was the second day in Tilburg NL and (no offense to Tilburg) but it is one of the least desirable places that I have ever visited on the planet. Industrial and boring and as a bonus, in the middle of nowhere. I am sure that James just wanted to get the hell out of there and onto the tourbus for that next joyous six-hour ride to somewhere better.

Shows will always have some hecklers. As the frontman of a band, you need to be able to deal with them effectively - or at least to a minimal level. To say that this is not James' strong point is an understatement. MP was behind James (as the drum kit normally is) PLEADING for said heckler to calm the hell down. This was the best that they as a band could muster on the whole.

Indeed, for this night the rest of the band were at their most creative silliness, but despite having started the show with an entirely too hilarious hair-do (US fanclub members will have this picture in issue # something), James was in a major-pissy mood. During all of the silliness of the three minutes of covers, listen carefully, if it matters on CD. DS had the mike for a lot of the time and was mocking James and James got progressively really pissed off. You may not be able to hear on your bootleg exactly how pissed off that James was getting but it was really real. Things got so bad with James, that I truly believe that he almost left the stage.

For my part, I thought seriously about pushing James over the edge to solidify the point that he can be a jerk but I didn't.

    Sorry to burst yer bubble.
