..i have to add some things here...
i attended this concert with Alan. Today=B4s newspapers said that the aud=
    ience
reached like 150 people (still a VERY SMALL number!), but the flower King=
    s
didn=B4t put much attention into this, IMO, because they put out a 2 hour
    show.
Now, a month ago Stratovarius played in the same place, and totally packe=
    d
the house, yet they played just an hour and 15 minutes (clock in hand!!),
and Kansas played 2 days before flower kings and had an audience of 750
aprox, and they played just an hour.
Plus, there were a couple of solo spots, good musicianship, cool vocal
harmonies, some good jokes, and a very relaxed ambient. The only thing i =
    can
complain about is the sometimes annoying highs of Roine Stolt=B4s Parker =
    Fly
guitar. It was piercing our ears!

another one (gee, thanks). "Remember that thirteen year old brat?" ;) We

You'll stop laughing once you meet her in person and realize she really *is* a balding 40-something ex con. :)

    Yeah. Let's recap, shall we?

Ben Laussade - Caught masturbating in public with a salad shooter and a
dominatrix dwarf named Dobby the Half-Dick. Incarcerated until maturity at
Johnson's Penal Facility for Youths, MI.

Bafu Vai - Last seen sitting atop Mt. McKinley meditating and offering
spiritual guidance to misbegotten hippies and deranged hikers. Also of
note: Carlton's Cliff, on Mt. McKinley, has recently been recognized as the
highest cause of mortality to aging tree-huggers.

RipZero - Attempting to break the current Guiness record for dwelling within
a confined space. He has been firmly entrenched in Devin Townsend's asshole
for three years running. Not only has he broken the record but ensured that
    he will never be defeated.

Jon Pamet - Nah, that fucker's got a real job. :)

KorgX3 - Joined the Peace Corps to work with Ethiopian brats. Helped them
to open catsup packages from McDonald's expertly so they wouldn't squirt it
all over their expensive Armani sweaters. Also helped appease Sally
Struthers by preparing her at least one Ethiopian child for dinner per
night. Was expelled for undermining CCF operations by passing out condoms
and teaching contraception to the natives.

w00t - Last seen eating Cheerios.

    --
KorgX3 hopes he didn't miss anyone.

Actually, now that I'm going completely Prog, I have to agree with this. I'm contemplating selling all of my non-Prog stuff (except my Zwarte' and my Live). I would have enough money to buy every Prog album ever with the money I wasted on all the crap I have.

    >>Do you desire to find labels so desperately?<<

It's just this thing I have. Prog hasn't exactly been proven to make people MORE sane. I walk around school yelling DT and Yes lyrics all the time. It scares people. It's fun. My friend Will still thinks that Kirk Hammett and, get this, ERIC CLAPTON!!!!! are so much better than John Petrucci. I just yell obscure, meaningless lyrics at him, and he backs off.

Now playing: Dream Theater - "Trial of Tears" (hey, it's a good song)

Friction...has lost it. And it ain't comin' back. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Translation: God, man! I wish I could be as ? as you! I wonder what it must feel like to be so fucking close-minded? Christ! God forbid you actually think about expanding your horizons at all, you lamefuck!

Reply: Actually, if you read my other letter(s), you would know that I have always listened to other stuff. I have every Metallica album, a bunch of Live, all of Zwarte's albums, some NIN, Godsmack's first album, Britney Spears's first album, all of Poison's albums, and a whole bunch of other stuff from every style imaginable. However, after listening to Prog, especially Yes (who basically define Prog and what it means), I realize that there is little to no true musical quality to people just playing the same f*cking "B" chord on their seven-string guitar while yelling "F*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck" for an entire album. Not saying that some of Metallica's stuff isn't cool, but compared to Dream Theater, it is crap. So I'm not close-minded, I'm just selective in what I make my ears put up with. Besides, I hate society and it's stereotypes; society likes metal and such, so I hate metal and such. However, society hasn't taken to Prog yet, and Prog exemplifies the spirit of stepping outside the boundaries.

Thanks again to Korg for making me feel appreciated

    Later all,

    Friction...says LONG LIVE PROG!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooooh ooh, can I play Esther Nairn, that InvisiGoth chick? I look a lot like her, sans nosering. (Back fanboys, back!)

And just for some super excitement, my cds are tossed in no particular order into a cardboard box that used to contain surgical equipment. I've pretty much memorized what the spines look like so it doesn't take me too long to find any particular cd.

You're welcome. I hope you realize that took my about two hours to type. I devoted alot of time to that rant. :) BTW, |337 means "elite." So, I was making fun of you for stating that you were to become an elite proghead. :D

Well, I rummaged around an old Linux box of mine and found some Jams dating back to Feb 7, 1994 (when it was ytsejam@bnf.com). You can now view the Ytsejam digests 320 - 1696 at: http://interzone.com/Music/Ytsejam/ytsejam/date.html I have a few other sets of Ytsejams (from various times that I was archiving them) and I'll put those up eventually too. I was considering using Glimpse to create a searchable database of the Ytsejams so you can search out your favorite bands, flame wars or whatever was discussed on the Jams. Let me know if there's interest in such a thing. Things haven't really changed all that much since back then. We only occasionally actually discussed Dream Theater, there were the usual flames about bootlegs, and so on. :-) The main difference was that the WWW wasn't popular enough at the time to be used to find all kinds of prog-rock CDs (let alone listen to samples). A few of us would sometimes send out messages describing what stores you had to call to order those obscure CDs. Have fun...

    Steve

A'ight, now THAT sounds like an idea. Or, just randomly stick them on my CD rack. Since it wasn't free, I may as well use it. I seriously think I'll do that as soon as I finish this letter. Thanks!
