    Hey all --

What some people might not be realizing is that a few parts of that concert
were previously released on Magna Carta... particularly Hourglass and State
of Grace. I can't remember if they played anything else at the show that was
previously copyrighted... but taking out those two songs cuts down the time
of the show by a bit, especially seeing as they did an extended version of
Hourglass which was not at all close to the time of 4:30 or whatever it was
on LTE2. Anyhoo, I've got my copy, it's 1 CD of 7 tunes, and it's worth
every penny. Here's the tracklist for those of you who are interested:

    1. Furia Taurina -- 10:12
    2. Truth -- 9:47
    3. Fife & Drum -- 9:21
    4. Hang 11 -- 11:37
    5. From Within (Jordan's Improv solo) -- 5:25
    6. In The Moment (Another Improv-style jam) -- 6:28
    7. Black Ice -- 11:01
    total running time: 63:59

So go for it. I've been listening to it for a couple of months and it's
barely left my CD player! Later --

    hey,
to disappoint some of you guys, its only 1 disc here the track listing :

    Furia Taurina (formerly untitled)
    truth
    fife and drum
    hang 11
    from within
    in the moment
    black ice

Im wondering if black ice is a tribute to what supposedly killed Mr Cliff
    Burton.

of course if you are whining about the # of tracks, consider this. no
song is under 5 min. 2 are under 7 min and 5 are over 8 min.

    Now figure that out.

Okay, I'll admit that Godsmack is losing some of its appeal to me (I think
some of that is from listening to "Whatever" on repeat for about 10 hours a
day, 7 days straight). Actually, Metal just doesn't do it for me as much
anymore, unless I'm really in the mood. There is nothing that Prog can't do
for you. I bet you could cure AIDS and cancer with Prog, if you did it
right: Let's launch a study! Of course, some medical experience might not
hurt...nevermind that. But let's all Prog anyway!

Now playing: Radiohead - Kid A (my dad bought it and told me to try it)

Friction...knows that drugs are bad, so I'm addicted to Prog instead.

I've been considering a new organization scheme myself:

    1) Organize in reverse alphabetical order by the drummer's middle
name. Those with no middle name get put between "M" and "L"

    2) Alphabetically by the third letter of the first track on the CD.

    3) Then, in increasing order according to the month the CD was officially
released in Uganda. If it was not released in Uganda, it then goes under
    "October"

    4) If there is still a question, sort by the UPC bar code.

No, it's not what you think.

A lot of people have asked in the past about a DT logo font, but nobody has ever bothered to make one, save for the "Flexure" font that looks like Strom Thorgeson's DT logos from FII and OiaLT.

Well, now there is a font for those who want to write with the "classic" DT logo! I wanted to post this a few days ago, when I first created it, but I wanted to wait until I got permission from the band (in the single- person form of Mike Portnoy) before I made it publicly available. But now I've gotten permission and I'm letting people grab it.

The thing about this font is that you have to type "Dream TheAtER" in order to get it to look right. Also, I decided to include the Majesty symbol in the font set as well, which you can see by typing the Y key!

You can download it at http://cout.dhs.org/ in a ZIP file. Therre is a README file that discusses how to use the font and how to install it (at least, how to install it on a PC). Enjoy!

D'oh. I only included my website, but not the actual link to the file. Damn, I'm stupid sometimes. Oh well. The actual zip file is located at http://cout.dhs.org/dtlogofont.zip and is actually a very small file, thank God, or I'd have a lot of bandwidth being eaten up on my server :)

I can't blame her much after she got flamed off of the 'jam for something really petty. Dammit. I liked that little elf-chick, too.

Subject: I bet you can't guess what's in my CD player right now...

Led Zepellin IV, perchance? Fuck, I can't even spell the band name right, I don't think. I dunno if I'll ever get over my Zep sucks routine. :D

No shit. That album rocks. Wishmaster kicks ass, too, though. You might look into that, too. I really ought to buy a legit copy, though. Damn funds are sucking right now and I can't buy any CD's. Napster is our friend. :D -- KorgX3 always buys shit, though. Except maybe the Harry Potter audiobooks. They cost too damn much.

She just couldn't take it... She can't handle a real freak like you Korgboi.

Thanks Steve Chew for making those classic jams available. A couple entertaining excerpts from 3/14/1994 (wow, more than 6 years ago!)...

#1: (Mike Bahr as a fan, not trying to turn a profit, and before the age of cheap CD-Rs) >Okay here's what I've done here... I put together a montage of >Neil Peart's drum solos over the years, running about 84 minutes, that >covers a lot of ground and includes a lot of gems.... <snip> >Basically the terms are that I will either trade >even over for a bootleg of Rush or DT that I do not already have (list >available upon request) or for TWO blank c-90's, and we use cro2 tapes by >default.

#2: (Lamenting the loss of Charlie Dominici on vox! [Jonas Peterson]) >Are we the only ones who think that Charlie's voice is much more suitable for >DT's music than James's? >Ok Charlie didn't have the same power in his voice that James has, but at >least he sounded special. He made the music sound like what we think DT >should be all about, symphonic metal. When you hear James sing "Killing Hand" >on LATM, you want to weep in your bed. His terrible high screams totally >eliminates all the emotions that Charlie brought into the song. Another >thing is his annoying vibrato, that in no way can replace Charlie's great >symphonic singing. BRING BACK CHARLIE!!!

#3: (Question about Metropolis Part 2 from Stefan!) >Today a question sprang to my mind, a question that I think I haven't seen >discussed or answered anywhere. Here it is: >I believe the full title to the subject song is "Metropolis, part I - The >Miracle and the Sleeper". Does anybody know of any other parts to this song? >Maybe part II will be included on the fortcoming album? Maybe the full lyrics to >Metropolis were written when recording IAW, but not all of the music and then >they just put part I on that album? Well, lots of maybe's and no answers..

Just thought these threads would interest the long-timers..

    cheers, -Neil.
