Don't know if I missed the boat here...
Mike Stern is about as good as they get in his genre. He's like a
pseudo bebop dude and a pseudo rock dude mixed into some sick fusion player.
He's up there with Scott Henderson and John Scofield in terms of how good a
show he puts on. $65 is a lot of bread though!!!!

I found the money and went to the show. It was great. He wasn't playing with
the guys you mentioned, just a bass player (can't remember his name, was
pretty good) and an excellent drummer called Dennis Chambers. It was great
stuff to watch, very fun. I can't say too much though because I had never
heard his stuff before. Stern is one of the best players there is obviously. He
has that legato Coltrane style playing that so many fusion guitarists try to achieve,
but it still sounds original and cool.

You know what she says is true, but we are really in the same position
we have been in for all of history. The bottom line is - don't expect any
    money for being an artist.

Damn! That kicks ass! That's the first time I've been captivated enough to read an entire article that long. :) And I have to agree with her on almost everything.

And it only enhances my hatred of the RIAA moreso. If I ever were to try and be a serious musician, I would never sign a contract with one of those maggot-hole places. :p It's amazing how many indy artists are starting to pick up steam via the 'net. I can't wait to see if any of them ever seriously break through. It would be the start of the artist revolution, methinks. :) -- KorgX3 wonders who would be the first? It would be the >perfect band if Dominci and Derek Sherinian could work together. I mean, if >you wouldn't like that band, you'd have to be a cocksucker. Their album >would >be tons better than Images and Words. > > -Buck Hamner

This has to be a joke. I think "Images & Words" is Dream Theater's best CD. Though, I do agree with some things. I also love Dominici (another fellow Italiano) & Sherinian. Dominici does have a great vocal range. And at last, it would be great to have a Dominici & Sherinian band. Better than "Images & Words"? I do not think so, but really good. In my opinion, "Images & Words" would be allot better if Dominici was on vocals.

On a different note, someone posted:

    > > most shredders use 9s, although some use 10s (I think Yngwie uses 10s). > >Yngwie uses .08's, and he scallops his fretboard and he's got that cheesy >Fender tremelo. How he stays in tune? I'll never know... :-)

Yes, Yngwie uses .08's and .09's, and his guitar necks are scalloped. Though, I personally do not like Fender guitars (at all), he does have that cheesy tremolo on his main guitar (he also uses the Floyd Rose on some other guitars), he says in tune by using a lock nut. For those that are not familiarr, a lock nut "locks" the strings in place so they do not go out of tune, that bad at least.

    Some fellow Ytsejammer asked:

    >"Take me Over?" Is this a hidden track on FII or something? :)

To answer your question, yes! It is a hidden bonus track on limited Italian releases. Only a few were made. I was fortunatee enough to get "Falling Into Infinity" with the bonus track, and it does kick major ass.

    Well.... until next time, ciao!

Time for me to add my .02 :

IAW would have NEVER happened without Labrie. I have a boot (which is also available on Lines in the Sand) of Dominci singing Metropolis 1, and man, he is HORRIBLE. Labrie has such a strong voice, more suited for this style of music. Dominci was just plain bad. I had the WDAJU boot B4 I bought the real album, and I was horribly disappointed in him, always will be. I can't look at him with a straight face.

    Christopher,

CD Architect will probably do it for you. You can arrange the WAV files the way you want and decide when each track begins.

For example, letīs say you have ripped SFAM, one wave file per song. You could, burn a CD where: - "Regression" and "overture" are just one track; - "Fatal Tragedy" the second; - "Through my words", the interval between them.

You could also split any track in two, etc That's an awesome proggy, I definetly recommend it.

.09s are my choice since I hurt myself trying to play fast licks without warming up. Duh. But I donīt miss the .010 sound and I'm not going back to them. 0.09s are better for wide vibratos, which I personally love.

As for Petrucci, for the calm guy he seems to be, I'd guess he uses .09 too. :-)
