I was lucky enough to see G3 this time. All the preformers did great.
Only two surprises. One was Billy Sheehan singing "Shy Boy". The
second was during the jam they played 2 Hendrix songs "Little Wing" and
"Voodoo Child". Then they did ZZ Top "La Grange" and Billy Gibbons
came out. Crowd went nuts when he came out. He sucked though.

I think it was any point-and-click, and maybe smaller slr's w/o any
add-on lenses or flashes.

G3's coming around, and I heard a promo for Petrucci's
part in that event on the radio. Satch and Vai,
everyone knows who they are, but the makers of the
spot felt the need to identify JP as a member of Dream
Theater (which is probably a good thing)....they had
some LTE stuff for Petrucci's section of the ad.
The other one was far more compelling (to me anyway),
and far more unexpected. I was listening to NPR,
weekend edition, and as is their MO, they throw in
random musical cuts from time to time, probably when
the hosts have to go take a leak or something. This
music basically acts like bumper music coming in and
out of ads (or, since this is NPR, before and after
segments). Moral of the story, they used Space-Dye
Vest.
Of all the Dream Theater songs to hear on the radio,
Space-Dye freaking Vest! I mean, DT on the radio is
pretty much a "whoa, am i hearing this right?" kind of
moment for a lot of us, and here's SDV on NPR at about
4 PM on a sunday evening (eastern time).
I don't think it was the Awake version; in fact, I'd
bet it wasn't (they cut it out right before the vocals
would have begun). They do their own versions of well
known songs, but it didn't sound like one of those
hack jobs, either. Maybe they got a Kevin Moore demo
version?
Either way, it was pretty damn cool. I wish there were
more than 8 people left on this list to share it with.
love is an act of blood....

Ytsejammers,
I'm not the email police or any kind of list moderator by any stretch of
the imagination. In the subscription letter that everyone gets after you
subscribe to the jam, it does say something about replying to a jam with
huge chunks of what you are replying to... and I quote:
6. Reposting large amounts of previous emails in replies
Please trim down quoting previoius messages in replies
as much as possible. If someone is reading your reply, they
probably read the initial mail as well.
Not trying to start an argument or come down on anybody in anyway... but it
is a ytsejam rule.
I have this letter saved in case I ever need them to post.
peace

Yeah I certainly will, when you and others also get a clue and stop re-posting
those annoying emails.
No I am not etiquite police, but the blatantly stupid things that seem
to be the same people time after time need to be addressed, even
shamed sometimes into not repeating the same mistakes over and over
again.

And that was the way to respond to it all. Very cool and nicely done. I'm movin' on.

Wow! That must have been one of those little adrenaline rush moments. I've never heard any DT on the radio, but I occasionally hear some odd Rush or Yes song that I didn't know ever got radio play. But Space-Dye Vest! That's awesome...
><Either way, it was pretty damn cool. I wish there were more than 8 people left on this list to share it with.><
That's the truth. The 'Jam used to be like an extended family, a place you could go if you needed to vent, to talk about DT, to just talk to somebody about nearly anything. I don't know what happened, but now it feels like on those movies when the asteroid hits, and there's like 10 people left alive on the whole earth. There is NOBODY out there. This place redefines the term dead. Where on Earth did KorgX3 go?...

Hey everyone,
I have nothing particular to say, but my drummer and I are going to see G3 when they come to Warner Theatre in DC on the 17th of July. Can't wait. Anyone who has the opportunity should go out and see it.
I'll write more when I have something to write about.

Anybody used www.circuitcity.com to order cds or dvds? They seem to have pretty good prices ($12.99) for most cds, with no shipping added (DT DVD is $19.99).
What's going on with cd prices anyway? Prices at places like Tower, Wherehouse, etc. have gone up to $17.99-$18.99 on average. On the other hand, places like Fry's Electronics (in California) have new releases like Tool for $9.88 and Dave Navarro for $6.88.
Does anyone purchase at the high priced stores? How do they stay in business? Something seems strange in the cd market... Are these high-priced stores somehow in collusion with the record companies? Are the less expensive stores just taking a loss on cds?
