It's officially spelled "guacamole," and it's a paste made from artichoke
hearts. Personally, I think it's rather bland and doesn't serve much of a
purpose. But I know some people that think it's got a great taste to it.

They're only updated through Dec 2000 though -- I'll work on that.

    Hey,
I just wanted to say that I'm very, *very* pleased with the new
Ytsejam since Skadz implemented the full filtering. It's much more
enjoyable now without all the clutter -- easier to read, easier to
pick out cool threads, and people are talking again.
Well done Skadz... Sorry that I doubted you. :)

Guacamole is a condiment used in Mexican food. If you want to make some, do a search at google. It'll turn up more recipes than you could try in year.

Ingredients: 3 ripe avocados, peeled and mashed 1 tomato, diced 1/2 red onion, minced 1 green onion (shallot), minced 2 cloves garlic, pressed 1 hot pepper (jalepeno, habenero, etc.), minced 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1 lemon, juiced 1 dash of salt 12 cerveza, light (to drink while you prepare the guac!) Directions:

In a medium-size mixing bowl, mash avocado. Add remaining ingredients (except the cerveza). Mix well, cover and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

I heard that concert sales are down too. I wonder how that happened? Gee... $75 tickets maybe? Ticketbastard surcharges? "Insider" selling of reserved seats for big shows?

    > I've been into a Fry's like once. 7 years ago. How is their selection?

You never know what they might have; fairly standard selection, with some surprises. They featured LTE2 when it was released...plus a pretty good music DVD selection (not that there's a lot available yet).

Cool, I'd love to hear the better bands in that genre. Send a list. :) Despite their pretentious attitude (which I just consider part of the act anyway) I love their music and vocals. Sorry to hear about their late cancellation -- they're a good band live.

Oops, I didn't mean artichokes, I meant avacados. I always mix those up, for some reason.

I like using a newreader, but find better content in mailing lists most of the time, so I found a way to make the best of both worlds. Mail for this list comes to my Linux box with fetchmail, fetchmail forwards it to my local account, procmail processes it, and if it matches one of my rules, further processing occurs. For this list, it gets posted to my own news server, that I can read from another machine if I want with a news client. I'm doing this with about 4 lists now, it's pretty cool. It even threads the articles, and sendmail rejects most of the spam (which later goes to postmaster@localhost >: | )

Of course to post, I have to make sure it goes to ytsejam@torchsong.com instead of my newsgroup, I don't post much so I didn't bother with news -> mail yet :)

OK, can you tell I'm going back through old Jams in preparation of updating the Ytsejam archives? ;) I didn't know that Magellan is coming out with something new. Where did you hear about it? I didn't see anything about it on the Magna Carta web page (www.magnacarta.net). Personally, I enjoy both "Impending Ascension" and "Hour of Restoration" more than "Test of Wills". But then I heard both of them first and "Test of Wills" has a somewhat different style. I think your best bet is to try "Impending Ascension" next since it is more similar to ToW than "Hour of Restoration" is. Let us know what you think.

Well add me to the people who are still here

Been around a while, just never posted. I saw the G3 show at San Diego. I wanted to watch for two big reasons (a) To see JP and MP together.. and having Dave on bass was an added bonus (b) to see Sheehan and Donati backing up Vai.

My review .. JP was great .. very laidback .. the tunes were very nice. I kinda wish MP had been a little more "out there" but I think he was aware that this was JP's gig. It looked like a third of the crowd was there to see MP :-)

I loved Vai's set .. forget the theatrics, thats incidental .. no one controls sound like he does, he knows how to write great songs and having Sheehan backing him up (if you can call that backing) just made that set phenomenal.

Satch's set was a little boring .. the songs he chose to play were all too predictable .. as my friend put it .. he's gotten into greatest hits mode. I wish he would stretch himself a little. That said, I cannot imagine anyone having better technique.

. and I am glad Sheehan sang two of the songs .. .sings much better than the other fellows

    Cheers

    >I heard that concert sales are down too. I wonder how >that happened? Gee... $75 tickets maybe?

Ticket price is the only reason I'm not going to see G3 when the tour hits Philly in a few days. It'd be a good show, no doubt, but, to me, paying $60+ for good seats / $45+ for bad ones just didn't seem worth it, no matter how quality the performers are. Those "good seat" tickets cost more than two-day admission to the Milwaukee Metalfest, which features well over a hundred bands, a bunch of them fairly big names...or as big as legitimate metal bands can get these days. Now, obviously, these two events are apples and oranges (and a number of the Metalfest bands have to pay-to-play, or so I hear), but, still, you've got to wonder about ticket prices like the ones for G3, or any other big tour these days. Who do these promoters think their prime audience is? For older bands, how do they expect to bring in new fans?

    Economics'll get 'em.

Hey there, I went to meet MP at a signing session today in a suburb of Chicago. It was hot & sticky but worth the wait. I took my 4 year old son to see him too. Mike was great to everyone and took plenty of time to talk to everyone & sign what ever they had. My son told Mike what our favorite DT lyric is "I sit down with my son,". Mike seemed to get a kick out of him saying it. Even though he wrote it before his son was born, it has to have as special of a meaning to him as it does to me. Again, it goes to show you how classy these guys are spending an extra minute w/ a fans son. Thanks a bunch Mike. Now he wants to go see ya play live. Maybe next tour. See ya, Todd
