Spock's got on stage around 11pm, after three openers. The first band evidently started about on time, at 7:30.
Great review, Jon. It was a fantastic set, and the SB guys are the best all around entertainers I've ever seen on stage. They're THAT good. If you have any chance at all, go see this show everyone.
Not to mention the fact that IMMEDIATELY after stepping offstage, all the guys were available for conversation and signings, for almost an hour after the show.
Not to mention the fact that WhoFooldU and I visited with Dave Meros (and Alan Morse, when he happened by) for about thirty minutes BEFORE the show, like we were all old friends. We had to remind Dave that it might be about time to go on. Too funny. And Alan, looking like he had just been dragged out of bed, proceeding to get onstage and transform into a complete maniac.
What a blast. Me and that kid that Jon mentioned, we're BOTH fans for life.
Kez, still on a Spock's high.

Yes, the show in Atlanta was awesome.
The guys didn't stick around for autographs too much. Although I did see Billy S. out in the crowds. I was able to get back-stage passes. It was awesome getting a chance to meet Steve Vai. And Mike Keneally.
In fact, I got a chance to meet everybody except for Mike Portnoy who never showed up. But I already met him before, so no big thing.

Well, I can understand wanting to meet and say hi to your favourite musicians; it's just autographs I don't understand. I personally don't see the need for them. If I say I've met someone, then my friends tend to believe me, and they don't demand proof that I'm not lying. (Not that any of my friends have a clue who the members of DT or SB are anyway...)
I don't need autographs for proof, or for showing off, and I certainly have no intention of selling them, so I generally think it's polite *not* to rush up to stars and shove pens and paper in their faces.
I got very annoyed after the DT show in London last October. A few of us were hanging around outside as John Myung came out, looking exhausted. He was immediately mobbed (not by me or any of the people I was with), and graciously stopped to sign stuff. He was getting CDs and things literally shoved into his face, and he somehow put up with it. Then, when he'd had enough, he sneaked off towards the tour bus obviously trying not to be seen... and yet still some morons ran (that's RAN) after him and badgered him for yet more autographs.
WHY?????????? What is so damned important about a signature that you have to run around like a damn lunatic, pissing off the people you claim to admire?
Vanity. That's my opinion.
Confession: I have Sean Connery's autograph. I got it when I was 7 years old - he was filming The Highlander in the Highlands (strangely enough) a few miles from where I lived. At the time, I didn't even know who he was.

David Ball, the marginally-famous country singer, is my second cousin. I've never met him, and don't like his music, but he was the talk of Thanksgiving dinner after one of his albums, "Thinkin' Problem", went gold a few years back. (No mention of him before this happened, of course.) I just ate my dinner and wished I were someplace else.
Spock's Beard was awesome last night (North Star). I've seen them a few times before, but that was easily their best showing yet. Dysrhythmia were pretty good too, kind of like an all-instrumental hybrid of Voivod and modern King Crimson. There wasn't a third band -- don't know what happened to Event, who were supposedly scheduled to be there.

My famous second cousin (everyone has one) is Kristy McNicol of television and movie fame, and washed-up actor fame. Of course, I live in Pennsylvania and she in California, so no, I've never met her.
Also, a friend of a friend is John Petrucci's first cousin, but I don't know the guy myself. I tell my friend to get me something cuz his buddy always gets advanced copies off stuff, but I don't ever actually get anything. I don't have the "connections" in the music industry to get stuff before it comes out.
