try www.midi.com

it's got a search engine that just looks for midi files. it's a good place
to start, since you can search for specific song titles. kinda' like a more
geeky napster ;)

Have you confirmed via a process manager (such as "Another Task
Manager" http://idic.caos.it/atm/higheng.html) that webhancer is actually
not running? Just checking... :)

According to the one page, doing that may cause you problems:

Did it work for you? It sounds like it works sometimes but
not others. AdAware is probably a safer alternative.

There's more. Apparently DT is now a three-guitarist band. :)

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/p/ap/20010714/en/people_g3_tour_nyr101.html

G3 show in Atlanta kicked all kinds of ass. Fantastic performance all
around. After-show wasn't quite so good. Came out to the parking lot to
discover that the caterer's truck had driven into one car, which then
crunched into another, which then crunched into mine. Spent thirty minutes
sorting that out. By the time it was all taken care of, I discovered that
Satriani and his band had already disappeared for the hotel (without,
apparently, signing anything). Portnoy and Petrucci had also been and gone
(don't know if they signed anything).

Ah well. At least I got Donati to sign my Planet X stuff beforehand and
Sheehan to sign some more stuff afterwards. Donati is nice but very very
quiet and seems almost embarrassed that some people recognize him. Sheehan
was cool -- friendly and pleased that we'd come out to see the show.

If the G3 tour hasn't hit your area yet, go. Hell of an evening of great
music. Just don't expect much in the way of autographs afterwards. Bah!

cheers,
Phil

hehehehehe, gotta love clueless media folks. :)

Further evidence that Mike P. is Cool: at the Atlanta show, there was a
couple with their 4-yr old son Brandon next to me in the front row
(longtime Ytsejammer Matt "ktulu@arches" Smith was on the other side of
them). After a song or two of Petrucci's opening set, Mike noticed the
kid was having a hard time with the noise level, came down to the front
of the stage, and handed the parents his headphones to protect little
Brandon's ears from the noise. They weren't Dream Theater fans before
(they were there mostly for Satch, I think)...but they are now!

EVERYONE in the front thought that was just the coolest thing to do, and
we gave Mike a little rippling ovation when he went back to his kit.
Brandon had a great time the whole rest of the show, too. :)

Photographer Rob Cohen of Pollstar (http://www.pollstar.com) took a
photo of the kid wearing the headphones; I hope it appears somewhere
with the whole story. :)

And getting stars' autographs is why we all love music, right? It's SO important!!! Just think how many chicks you can get when you show off your mighty autograph collection!

Yes it has worked just fine for me. Uninstalling the WebHancer has not caused a single internet connectivity issue. I'm afraid that was also some bad press or rumor that uninstalling the program will cause trouble. It makes the less-informed weary of removing it. That program has nothing to do with dialup networking and such so how the &#^@ could it interrupt connectivity?? haha

Lol! Sounds like good publicity to me... All these Satch and Vai fans will run out and buy some DT discs...

Hey,

With the recent talk of DT singers, I was wondering if Mike P. was going to release any of the DT demos with other singers? I saw somewhere on MP.com about putting out some "unofficial" DT material, and I'd really like to get a good copy of some of the old demo's. (Yep, I'm too lazy to go search MP.com right now for answers).

In particular:

The original demo of ACoS with LaBrie. The original demo of ACoS with Chris Cintron. The Killing Hand with John Arch (or anything else with John).

To tell the truth, I first had the studio version of ACoS, and I wasn't very impressed. I liked it a whole lot more after hearing the original demos. I liked the vocals (in terms of melody, notes hit, etc.) much better on the demos. Of course hitting all those high notes is out of style right now, but the studio version seems flat in comparison to the demos.

I have several versions of ACOS all on CDs and to me, I still like the official studio EP version the best. Sure I miss the "Please Don't Go !" part, but I have all the other versions. Just a personal thing. The John Arch demos are interesting to listen to. His voice takes some getting used to if you haven't heard him before. I haven't listened to the Chris Cintron version in a long time.

For all of you Tori Amos fans out there... Have you ever listened to Fiona Apple? I've been listening to her discs, and I was surprised. All I had heard before were her MTV hits, and I assumed her to be another Tori wannabe. Turns out she's pretty good (if you like the piano/strings/pop/jazz style). She writes all her own material, and seems to enjoy staying in minor keys.

Anyone else ever give her a try?

Alright, i realize that this has absolutely nothing to do with DT, but i really need some help. I've been looking for the vocal music for Queen's Bohemian Rapsody. I've tried everything and still can't find it. If anybody has it, or knows where to find it let me know privatly so we don't waster any jam space. Thanks, JJ

PS Does anybody know anything about Sennheiser 855 mics? Thanks.
