Greetings ye 'jamanoids...
Here's an idea. Why not take the political discussions to *private email*,
where they belong, instead of posting them here where they're bound to
start flame wars?
I've seen several longtime list members responding to the latest
"terrorist, WTC, etc." threads. You should know better by now :)
Think before you hit the Send button, folks.
cheers,
Phil

I want to remind people of something.. If it had not been for
U.S. involvement in W.W.II, most of you WHITE people would be
speaking German. And for those other than whites, care make
guesses regarding your future?
If the Taliban and other Islamic extremists had the technology,
(They certainly have the will) The entire USA would be a vast
wasteland. How do you think that would affect the world economy?
And do you really think they would stop with the USA? The USA
has the ability to vaporize the entire Middle East, yet thus far we've
elected not to use such extreme measures. Who are the real tyrants
here?
Our Government certainly isn't perfect, but it sure has saved a
lot of your asses. And more than likely will continue to do so.
Pick a God and pray to him!

While I can not recall that joke I sent to the Jam, I do regret sending it.
Apologies to anyone offended by it.

God has been used as a scapegoat for many things. However, I assure you
God had nothing to do with it. Opportunistic people will use whatever
is at their disposal to convince, brainwash, and encourage other people

There'se no need to, I never critisized it. I was just saying that the
international response would have been A LOT different if it had been a
different country.

Thanks for the history lesson and the touching display of nationalism but
this doesn't mean that the death of an American is any worse than the death
of
anyone somewhere else in the world.

In Yougoslavia GENOCIDE took place. I would call that bigger that grapes OR
watermellons.Does it matter that 6,000 innocent people are murdered in a
half hour or in one month or even a year? I don't think so.
And think about your statement "losing billion dollar monuments" while
keeping in mind that in America there is more then enough money two build
new "monuments" while in other countries people are starving.

I remember video footage of other Afganis asking for an UN or even a NATO
army in their country, several years ago, to restore order and protect them
from the Taliban. Don't generalise. I don't think the Afghan fugatives in
Pakistan where cheering in the streets, the day of the attack.

Well, that's stretching the analogy a bit. I'm not
aware of any modern Police Program where mass murder
is part of the training. But rumor has it that some
include torture techniques...
If a Police training program did intentionally teach
mass murder of innocent people, they certainly would
be an accessory to the crime. But the murderer himself
is still the primary guilty party. Are you going to
just let the murderer continue his murder spree, and
excuse him because he received some kind of
"training"?
While it's quite possible for someone with Military
Training to become a murderer, it's just as likely
that someone without training will do it. There is no
proven cause and effect. Even if there was a slightly
higher probability of an ex-military person being a
murderer, who's to say that it's caused by the
training? Maybe psychos are just more likely to join
the military in the first place. (No offense intended
to military personel or assorted psychos). ;o)

Read this, it might clear up your confused mind, along with anyone that is
confused about our/ MY great country, ahem... Maarten:
TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian Newspaper, is worth sharing.
America: The Good Neighbor.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable
editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
Commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as
printed in the Congressional Record:
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most
generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.
Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of
the debris of war by the AMericans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying
even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who
propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the
streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in
to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of
dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are
writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the
erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other
country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the
Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC-10? If so, why don't they fly them?
Why do all the international lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why
does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the
moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk
about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American
technocracy, and you find men on the moon -not once, but several times - and
safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store
window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued
and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they
are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at
home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through
age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad
and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them and old caboose.
Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other
people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to
the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during
the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm
one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They
will come oout of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they
are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their
present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those. Stand proud, America!
Wear it proudly!!"
and...
>Terrible stuff like this, and worse, is happening every day and has been
>happening for decades if not centuries all over the world.
So it is common for other countries to lose billion dollar monuments, and
hundreds of billions more in the economy, lost companies and the like. Not
to mention 6,000 innocent people murdered. Not likely. You are comparing
grapes to watermelons.
This message reminds me of some video footage of Afghanis celebrating the
day of the attacks, passing out M&Ms to the kids, meanwhile there is a Pepsi
machine clear as day in the background. Now who are the hypocrites?
