Im mixed about Jordans influence on the old songs. I dig his playing, but
I still have trouble with his sounds/patches at times. Some sound a bit
too toy like, but I think I was spoiled by Derek's heavy sound. Case and
point, the very beginning of JLMB when Jordan does that weirdo noise
after the guitar intro.

Hi! I don't think Jordan makes much of a difference on the old DT songs.
They're pretty much the same as before. The only changes are of course that
the solos are his, and there's an addition to Learning to Live, on which
they have inserted a reggae part and extended the keyboard solo. I think
the rest of the songs don't have any noticeable changes (at least that I can
remember).

Listen to JLMB again, the lead sound he uses at the begining doesnt even
begin to be as aggressive as Derek's old sound in that part, also the 2nd
verse
part (i think thats it) where derek used to do some cool shit on the organ,
JR is
doing something really weak..
thats just in JLMB, off the top of my head...

Here we go again...
Yes, Jordan changes a few parts so as to make them sound a bit more like his
style - just like Petrucci keeps changing bits and pieces here and there to
keep things interesting.
Do we really have to get into the Jordan vs Derek thing yet again (for what
the 20th time)?

My copy arrived today from Amazon, so they ARE shipping it. --Or were,
as of the 15th or so.
Playing the first disk right now -- sounds great! I'd swear I heard
some treble drop-outs (sounded like a tape problem) earlier; I'll have
to go back in a bit and listen again.

The local Hastings here has 8 copies of "Scenes from New York". I have an extra copy that I would be willing to trade. I will NOT accept cash. I am only interested in trading music for music. I realize some people will disapprove and view this as profiting. I don't and am sorry if you feel that way.
So whoever is interested drop me a line.

JLMB isn't that great of a song anyway. I still don't see why they bother playing it. They have MUCH better songs they could choose.Plus Derek's "heavy" sound didn't sound enough like an actual keyboard anyway. Seems like the sound is to mask whatever weaknesses in playing he might have. Jordan uses a keyboard sound which if anything is more similiar to Kevin's sound on the original stuff. Just my opinion...

Gee, I wonder why EBAY cancelled all the items... :) ---- Begin Original Message ---- From: "TREVOR HOIT" <trevorhoit@home.com> Sent: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 12:13:47 -0700 (PDT) To: Multiple recipients of list <ytsejam@torchsong.com> Subject: Collector's Item
Did you not get one Ptacek? :) If you did, are you destroying it and buying the reissue?
I did buy a bunch, but I'm selling them at my cost right now. ($30 inc tax) to fans who couldn't get one. Ebay has cancelled all the auctions for them, but when they allow it I will list them for $30, because that's the only place I know where to sell them, and I can't afford to give them away for free. I can't help if the price goes up, that's supply and demand. It's only a cd, it's not like I'm trying to sell pieces of the WTC... Trevor Hoit
