    Hey! :)

I guess I'm an oldtimer too. I've been around since the address
was ytsejam@arastar.com and that was somewhen in the mid 90's.
The ytsejam is really something special for me because here I
met our first fans from the USA too. :) Anybody remembers the
    chocolate incident? :)

    Greetings

When someone mentioned DeGarmo back in Queensryche I immediately
checked out www.queensryche.com. The site mentions that the band is
writing for the new album, but mentions nothing about Chris DeGarmo
other than that a joint interview with Geoff Tate and Chris will be on
the DVD audio re-release of "Empire". Maybe that's where the rumour
    arose from.

I know there must be loads of people out there that want DT's "Master
of Puppets" album version on bootleg. I personally hope it may be Mike's
Christmas present at the end of this year. Maybe it would be cool if
someone around Mike asked him, so we don't go out and buy an inferior
quality boot recording at a ludicrous price.

Hi, I think I joined somewhere in the 1xxx's, after Awake, when I discovered the internet and found out that there's actually a sit about MFB. Back than it was Under a Cyber Moon. I signed on as Schnipp, got into my first fight immediately, because i neglected to read between the line's and thought the closer "and that's the bottom line because Stone Cold Schnipp said so" was cool. In the meantime (I am from Germany) I met a couple of the guys during the Bitch Hill (thanks Alex) show 98 (namewise I remember Ptacek,Bogie and Damon, I was the one with the Budwiser Cap that had a note on it saying Ytsejam) and LTE, I guess in January, begging one of you to lend me money for a shirt. And Alex, Though the Wings will take it all this year.. I think the jam is on its way up again, lot's a people are talking lot's o' sense again all of a sudden. Korg's and Al's posts are missing obviously. Oh, and do you remember this other German guy who also had a web site who was so very opiniated and always had something to say (name starts with an A. I think) Just wondering, does anybody else have the feeling that 6doit disc 1 is the furthest step taken in the direction of SDV (aka Kevin's direction) yet and, funny, that he isn't in the band anymore to be part of it??

Heh - I'm surprised to see so many of you folks still on here - most of you have become lurkers it seems, just like myeslf. Personally, I've been on here since early 95 - I had just missed out on signing the ACoS petition.

The way I found out abooot the YML was thru a guy I met at the Milwaukee Awake show on 11/4/94 by the name of Jason Breitweg (ya still out there Jason?) and he told me abooot all these fans that were on the Internet. Now I had heard of the Internet, but didn't have much of a clue as to what it was back then.

But I got his e-mail address and his snail-mail - he ended up signing me up and scoring me a copy of Mike Bahr's Subconscious CD boot.

Funny thing is, had I not met Jason at that show and found out abooot this list, it might have been some time before I would've gotten on the Net. Yes, believe it or not, but the YML was the reason I badgered my father into getting us an Internet connection! :-)

I've been on ever since, except for a spell from June 98 to April 2000 when I had moved to San Diego and didn't have a computer. Resubscribed when I did.

Well, I'm surprised no one mentioned the Mike Bahr (was that his name?) fiasco (the cd guy). He still deserves an ass kicking by half the old timers....turned out to be nothing more than a hustler/criminal in the end (or he just flat out got in over his head). I wonder if he's here under a different name or in some cell in Arizona? Actually, he did some great stuff at first, but once he started charging $25 for cd-rs, I should have quit while I was ahead...still waiting on a boot or two (How long ago was that?). I've been around since before Awake (Couldn't tell you my first digest number, but I know I'm qualified as being long in the tooth here). I am really nothing more than a filthy non-posting troll with an internet social anxiety disorder (They don't have a prescription drug for that yet, but I'm sure it would cause dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, diaharrea, sexual disorders and other various pleasantries which would certainly make it worth taking in my opinion). I've only recently become more interested in the ytsejam as I scan for all the available full length shows on mp3. Nice and cheap way to get some live stuff. Since I will only buy original silver bootlegs, I limit myself to mostly picking up older shows at record/cd conventions (I won't pay a dime for cd-r boots, so it's a nice way to get newer shows that I otherwise will never own/buy). Hard to believe that on April 2, I had a 3 disc show that took place less than a week before. Internet kicks ass. Later, Kevin.

let's see, i guess i've been on here since about `96, and remember the Derek/Kevin wars VERY well. lurked for the first couple `o years, and didn't start posting regularly until around `98 or so. Damn, so many memories. KorgX3, Bafu (of course), Al (he still posts now & then, i believe), BABS, and the list goes on. also, i remember this guy who was either from europe or south america (nothing like being specific!!) who posted just a few years ago. i can't remember his name, but he started ALL KINDS of flame wars, mainly because of his attitude. he claimed he was this guitar god who apparently knew Yngwie, could outplay anybody, etc. there was even debate that he didn't really exist, and that it was just KorgX3 posting from a different address just to throw the jam a curve. come on jammers, help me out on this one!!

as far as jammers meeting other jammers, i've met a bunch of you through private email, but as far as in-person goes, alas, i've only met one, and that was at the D.C. show a couple weeks ago. i made this big stink about bringing back the "Bafu!!!" cry, and when i was in line at the show (one of the first 30 people there), only one person responded 20 min. before the doors opened. Kez, buddy, it was good getting SOMEONE to yell Bafu with in line. we walked about halfway down the 4-block-long line yelling Bafu at the tops of our lungs, but only 1 other guy replied. sorry dude, can't remember your name. where the HELL was everyone else??!! oh well, that's my story, & i'm stickin' to it!!

    jammin' on, eric

Cool thread...been here since 97, and I was able to catch the Bahr flame wars.

A few days ago, I was at the mp.com forum and Bahr himself posted there, someone was praising him. I think Bahr sent this guy and some other people some packages with old orders, but added some extras cds in each package. Almost 5 years to someone receive the package...better later than never, hehehe. Maybe his game store is closing and he's about the re-enter the boot market :)

Coming out of lurk mode here. Hi SA. I'm one Mormon who loves Dream Theater. The first time I heard Spirit Carries On was when I saw the band perform the show in Salt Lake a couple of years ago. It rang a ton of bells! Now I'm waiting for them to come back for the Six Degrees show.

Hey, that was uncalled for. Bahr said when he posted about a month ago that he's finally in a situation to make some reparations for those people he never got boots to. He knows he screwed up and he said that he didn't want to be remembered as the asshole who stole people's money, and as such he wanted anybody who was still owed a boot to send him their contact information and he would send their boot to them, along with other surprise artifacts from his own personal collection.

What's more, he actually did it. He went above and beyond his duty and sent TONS of merchandise to these people... Just ask Scotty what he received. But he didn't HAVE to do that. He could have just sent the boots and a letter of apology, and left it at that.

I think the guy's had enough people making fun of him over the past few years. Let's let it finally die. Face it: The Bahr Wars are over.

I've actually MET Bafu and lived! ;) And hugegd him too! This was back in 2000 at the DC shows...was there with Kez and Major Dad and a few other NoVA jammers and I got to meet the infamous Bafu...I think I hollared something not so nice in my glee and excitement.

Actually, this thread is by far the most active the jam has been since I've gotten here. I'm not an old-timer by any stretch of imagination (Fall 2000), but I have read through the archives extensively, so I actually have a pretty good idea of what a lot of the messages in this thread are about. Yay for history studies.

OK. What about the other guy that got into bootleg selling. I forget what he sold. I know somebody out there probably has some of his stuff like the Rudess experiment boot with DT and jordan from 1994. God, I would give my left nut for that whole show. Anyway....ahem......I have most of Bahr's stuff that somebody made copies of for me, but was there anything after Mosaic? I dcould go through and list the ones I have, I would really love to fill in the gaps. And honestly, I never really had the money to pay for bootlegs, which is why I love tracking them down on mp3 format. I loved napster for that. To me, the replacements don't cut it as well. I keep seeing the same crap. How many copies of Damage Inc with the guy from Napolm Death and Bruce Dickinson with DT doing perfect strangers do we really need out there? Dear lord.

Coldfire, I do consider myself very lucky. Alas, I am still living in Hell, New Jersey, so I won't be holding my breath on any of those wonderful things you mention below.
