    Jessie waves! :oD

(tried THREE TIMES to post this message btw, and it's just not going
    through... ::grumble::)

Been here since the spring of 96 when I finally got a job that gave me
access to the Internet (just after the server change I think - I guess
that makes me more of a mid-timer). The very first words I typed into a
search engine were "Dream Theater", which is how I ended up here.

I'm still here, but the job (and my out of control LotR fanaticism)
keeps me pretty busy... barely enough time to post to lists that I run,
let alone ones that I don't.

Still see Spine, still talk to Itchy, and I just saw Eckie and Tim a few
weeks ago, as a matter of fact. I usually see Cheryl at the southern CA
shows, but it's been quite a while... hi Cheryl! :o)

My question is, where the hell is George Farber?

I still have that picture too... sometimes I miss my firey-red hair, and
wish I never cut it short. ::sigh:: And yes, Dave Thomas, you are
totally *the man* when it comes to sushi! :o)

    Mailbox format?
I have them... actually I'm missing 5053, but I have all of them from 5054
to the present. But I'm using Outlook Express... so I'm not sure how helpful
    I can be :-)

Been around since Awake came out. A couple of items for us old-timers:

    1) Did Pat ever get the CD's from Al ?

    2) How is Babs doing ? ( "Hi, it's me, Babs")

    * sigh* y'all made me come out of lurk mode . . .

Been here since April '95, and have never missed a digest since then (the 550's, I think). It's fun seeing everybody talk about the craziness that has transpired on this list. Wow -- seven years!

It's amazing how many DT fans come out for the shows here in Denver, but apparently don't know about this list. Who else out there is from Colorado???

Will try to be more "active" in the future.

Hey, I thought I was the oldest one on the list (40). It's nice to know I am not the only one in the 40 something club.

I finally got a copy and played it for the first time last night. Whoooo! So far, Green Carnation's LIGHT OF DAY, DAY OF DARKNESS, Superior's ULTIMA RATIO and this new Soilwork are ruling my 2002. (As always, DT are on a separate-but-equal "awesome" pedestal. :))

Who says there isn't good music around? You just have to FIND it....and that's what this list has been good for, since 1993! (Or whenever I signed up....judging from other posts, I might have joined earlier than I thought. :))

The new Soilwork album rocks so amazingly hard I am going to share three mp3s from the album with you kids so you can see if you like it enough to buy it.

I think this album is best described as Pantera meets Fear Factory with a spash of Dream Theater for good measure. YMMV. The files will be available for about a week.

Which shithole bar in baltimore...are you talking about the Daytona's show in 5/98 or the Bohager's show in 2/00? The 5/98 show wasn't all that great, the sound was mixed really bad from my position, and the 2/00 show seemed a bit flat to me.

Wasn't me...i showed up right as everyone was getting the boot. I walked in looking for Hairball 'cause he had an extra ticket i was buying from him and the manager immediately told me to leave.

I eventually ate at teh McDonalds across the street with E-Man (Elliot Kim...though I do forget how he spells his first name), some dude from Inferno (great demo tape!), Brian Cox ("official" recorder of the HFTH tour), and some others. It was a great time, until I got thrown out of the show during Lifting Shadows....grrrrrrrrr. I didn't meeet D-Man until years later at a California Guitar Trio show w/ guest Tony Levin in Baltimore.

*sigh* I miss the insanity of #ystejam 'back in the day'

Hi I am Mike from Germany and I'm not quite an oldtimer on this jam. I joined the list right before OIAL came out and since then I only lurked around....But I am very interested in the history of the ytsejam, I read all the oldtimer posts and checked the ytse archives ( http://www.interzone.com/Music/Ytsejam) long ago. When you guys talk about the past I can really feel the magic that was going on here back in those good old days. As Steve said the archives are missing some digests (#1-#319) I have to say that these are the digests I'm most interested in. What were the topics in these first digests, who founded the mailing list, how many people were on this list in the early days?? Some history lessons would be really appreciated! ;-)

I'm right there with you Summer !! I had just gotten back from the mall and sat down to watch some TV and flipped by VH1 Classic and they were playing Motley's Wildside.... That caught my eye so I watched it, and then the heart comes on TV and the first few notes of PULL ME UNDER start going and I FREAK. It was great to see that on VH1 Classic. I watched for 30 more minutes because video after video were greatness.
