Hey everybody - look what was just posted on dreamtheater.net:

"Dream Theater/Joe Satriani US Summer Tour
    Added on 04-13-2002

The following information just came in from Mike Portnoy:

'Dream Theater and Joe Satriani will co-headline a US Summer tour throughout
August/September with a very special guest TBA as the 3rd act.

Joe will close the show all shows west of the Mississippi, and Dream Theater
will close the show all shows east of the Mississippi.

Dates and confirmation of the 3rd act coming very soon.......'"

Yep. It'll be DT opening and Satch headlining West of the Mississippi,
and DT headlining with Satch opening East of the Mississippi. (I'm
guessing both will be getting equal time.) A third "very special" act
will also be on the bill.

It'd be funny if it was Steve Vai. :)

Is there anyone here that has in their collection or has heard the "remixed" version of Status Seeker that is found on the promo cd single?

I was wondering if there is much difference between the "remix" and the regular version found on When Dream And Day Unite?

I managed to find/pick up a copy of this single at the local book sale (in of all places, a library. :) )

It's definitely different enough to pick up if you find it cheap. I think it's better than the album version personally. Terry Brown was responsible for the mix, and you can tell. :)

    Hope this helps!

Wasn't Planet X recruiting Vai and Sheehan for the next album? It'd be sweet if they toured with that line-up... with DT and Satch! Then again, one can only imagine how long the show would be with three big-name bands playing. They'll probably get a relatively small US band to open, or perhaps a European act for exposure in US... who knows. We'll just have to wait and see, they'll announce it soon enough anyway.

Those bands listed are mostly progressive ROCK. They aren't in the style of Dream Theater and Symphony X's heavier sound. More mellow progressive rock.

Sorry for the lateness of this note.. I've been out of country for a week, and am kind of reading my jams in reverse... God, let me reread that sentence.. yeah, I actually said Jams as in PLURAL. It's been a while! When I first joined I almost went under from the massive amounts of daily mail from this list. Five huge digests a day! This is in 98 when it hit its peak... It's so good to see an actual pulse around here. Like many others, this was the first list I ever joined, and my first foray into cyberspace after I got on the net at college. Dang. It was so sad to see it dying.

    >You Might Be An Oldskool Ytsejammer If You Remember: >1. "I'll flatten you like a fucking pancake, boyeeeee"

That, after Bafu & Eckie, is the single top thing that I associate with the jam. It still cracks me up to this day.

    >3. Al vs. Pat I walked in right in the middle of that one. I was so confused.

    >5. "Fuck you, you fucking fuckfuck" :) I think I have a sticker on my college cube fridge with that quote on it, hehe.

    >9. The Shredi Wars posts Aww, yeah!

    >In the meantime (I am from Germany) I met a >couple of the guys during the Bitch Hill (thanks >Alex) show 98

Hey! Sab! What's up? Haven't heard from you in ages. I remember that show at Bitch Hell... from which I was snatched before my time! I was so pissed because I got most of the wait time before the band took the stage, and didn't get any of the concert... my friend's brother, with whom I had gotten a ride, decided to take off. I could have killed him with my bare hands that night... glad I got to meet you at the game later, but sorry I missed you at the show! that would've been super cool.

Anyway I might be in good old Deutschland this July, still working out details (and flight costs, ouch).

    >And Alex, Though the Wings will take it all this >year..

That's what they always say! How many times have they won the President's Trophy and then got knocked off during the playoffs? Hrm... methinks back to a time in 95... Btw, I HAVE TICKETS TO THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS OF THE PLAYOFFS!!! WOOHOO!!! I am SO psyched, you have no idea.. even though first round is Carolina, I'll take it... I'll get to see Ron Francis play.

    >Just wondering, does anybody else have the feeling >that 6doit disc 1 is the furthest step taken in the >direction of SDV (aka Kevin's direction) yet and, >funny, that he isn't in the band anymore to be part >of it??

I hadn't thought of it, I always hear Rudess's sound and I always associate it with Rudess, I just can't really think about it in any other way. I don't know, Rudess has a more "bright" sound, while Kevin had that darker, emotional aspect to it that I haven't heard Rudess incorporating, as of yet.

I have it somewhere. It sounds a bit different, and I think, better. I wish that whole album had been remixed like that. At 10:57 PM 4/14/2002, you wrote:

    Dear Jammoids,

Am I the only person who feels no guilt at all from still having a couple of home-burnt cd-r's with 6DOIT on them having refused to pay nearly 30 quid or 43

    us dollars for the album.

All i can say is thank heavens for Audiogalaxy at times like this, sure the band are losing out, but by how much, i tried e-mailing Elektra through their customer contact section on their website but it came back as undeliverable.

This is a big deal to me and I feel thoroughly marginalised by such ridiculous marketing.

The only bummer is that in burning the title track of 6doit onto one cd i cant get rid of the gaps in between songs so i dont get that flow, but hey i can live with that for the timebeing until the price comes down

    Cheers

    Steve
