And for no apparent reason, here's proof that an old
fart can still write some great lyrics, IMHO.

Who else could sing the word "Euphrates" with such
    passion...

    --------
    Miraculous you call it babe
    You ain't seen nothing yet
They got Pepsi in the Andes
    They got McDonalds in Tibet
    Yosemite's been turned into
a golf course For the Japs
    And the Dead Sea
    is alive with rap
    Between the Tigris and Euphrates
    There's a leisure centre now
They got all kinds of sports
    They got Bermuda shorts

    They had sex in Pennsylvania
    A Brazilian grew a tree
    And a doctor in Manhattan
Saved a dying man for free

    It's a miracle
    It's a miracle
    It's a miracle
    Another miracle
By the grace of God Almighty
And the pressures of the marketplace
The human race has civilized itself
    It's a miracle

    We got warehouses of butter
    We got oceans of wine
We got famine when we need it
    We got designer crime
    We got Mercedes
We got Porsche, Ferrari and Rolls Royce
    Yeah, we got choice
    She said meet me
In the Garden of Gethsemene my dear
The Lord said, Peter I can see your house from here
    An honest man
Finally reaped what he had sown
And a farmer in Ohio has just repaid a loan

    It's a miracle
    It's a miracle
    It's a miracle
    Another miracle
By the grace of God Almighty
And the pressures of the marketplace
The human race has civilized itself
    It's a miracle

    We cower in our shelters
With our hands over our ears
    Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years
    An earthquake hits the theatre
    But the operetta lingers
Then the piano lid comes down
    And breaks his fucking fingers
    It's a miracle

Regarding an earlier inquiry requesting why everyone's pre-ordering the new WDaDU, that I am not sure everybody responded to:

    http://www.dreamtheater.net/diswdadu.htm

5000 numbered copies, numbers stamped in gold, digipak, picture disc, yadda yadda, those Ytsejammers who do not order these will be killing themselves.

Hell'a cheap on CD Now, too. List $13.98, on sale for $9.79. You'd hafta either be a mongoloid or an ex Enron employee to not buy this.

It's one of those questions, which came first, the chicken or the egg.
Well, in this case, it was definitely the egg - the music had its
beginnings long before the games started using it. When people say
that music I listen to sounds too much like video game music, it
indicates to me that they play too many video games. Not that there's
necessarily anything wrong with playing video games - I do it myself -
but when people find music in "the real world" that reminds them of a
video game, that's probably a personal issue they would want to address
    at some point.

Similarly to abnds like Royal Hunt, whose music, some people would say,
sounds like soundtrack to a porn film. Why could that be? Perhaps
because a production company uses similar music in their films? Could
it be that you're watching too much porn?

No offense to anyone, and in fact I don't think I've seen people on
this list respond negatively to DT or any other music that is
reminiscent of video game soundtracks (after all, Petrucci did write a
song for that Sega Saturn game). Just a general observation that I've
made over the years - people not being able to accept music for what it
is, and linking it erroneously to certain lifestyles, hobbies, etc.

    Hey everyone,

I heard some very positive feedback about Mudvayne from two people
whose musical tastes and preferences I respect very much, and was just
curious if anyone on the list gave them a serious listen. Is it
something worth checking out, or is it just another nu-metal hype in
regards to which we can safely say, "All things shall pass?"
