I think they are great too!! my favorite is disc 2. I think the part that
starts with the instrumental section of Goodnight kiss, than goes into
Solitary shell and than the intro to About to crash(reprise) is perfection.
I listen to that part over and over.

I've heard that the Parisian orchestra musicians who had the honor to first
play Stravinsky's stuff had some interesting psychosomatic reactions from
being stressed. Alas, I've heard nothing about the ballet guys who had to
perform "Le sacre du printemps"... But then, there is dance in African,
South and Southeast Asian musical cultures, too, which are amongst the
polyrhythmically baddest on the surface of this Earth.

I'm confused, didn't Mike and JP write 1/2 each. Or were you joking?

Well, he finally got good enough recording equipment at his home studio
to make his own album. I read an interview with him where he said he
felt more free to experiment since he never caught himself thinking
"Damn! I just spent another $1500 on that guitar solo!" Of course, you
still may not like the new album - it's still 13 Satriani instrumentals
and a cover tune with Robert Fripp. I would definitely check out clips
from the disc before you buy it, based on what you told me.

    Take care,
    Mark Peters
    epididymisle@earthlink.net

PS - It seems that the folks who don't like disc 2 of 6DoIT are all in
ack mode, and the folks who do are in digest mode. Strange.

I wasn't able to find the song credits on dreamtheater.net, so I tried
CDNOW.com and saw that Myung is given credit for all of Disc 2.
Obviously CDNow isn't the authority on who wrote what but I thought I'd
give them the benefit of the doubt.

It's very possible that I'm wrong about this. Anyway, my point was
only to get whomever is writing these corny lyrics (There's a girl on a
hill, etc., etc.) to knock it off. IMHO, obviously.

Come to think of it, it sounds right that JP and MP wrote CD2 of 6DOIT.

    Peace!

Hey Jammers, I recently heard a couple of rumors and was wondering if anyone has some info ----- First Al Pitrelli and Marty Friedman are getting some stuff together and secondly I heard Yngwie Malmsteen and Kevin Moore are collaborating ???? That's kind of an odd couple but hey could be interesting. Also I have played the absolute hell out of Avantasia The Metal Opera since ordering it last summer, according to the liner notes part 2 should have been out already but I haven't seen or heard anything. Anybody know what's up ? Am I just not looking in the right place ? Oh Yeah as to the 6DoiT thread I dig both CDs very much. I feel like it has some unique properties which illustrate that OFB are moving forward and not getting in a rut by trying to duplicate past bodies of work. Now if only Type O Negative would put something out ....... Have a Day Y'all Billy np Nosferatu DVD ( silent movie organ soundtracks kick ASS )

Are you serious ? 6DOIT cd2 better than bonafide DT classics like 'The Killing Hand' and 'Only A Matter Of Time' ? FII has some killer material too and I'd take those 2 albums anyday of the pile of shite which is disc 2.

DP> GOD I hope the new Symphony X is something different. They have SOOO DP> fallen into a comfortable groove right now and it's getting tiresome. DP> Please guys, something different this time? Ditto with Nightwish - is DP> the new one different at all?

How different can SX really be then ? I doubt if they can doing anything to different, I am not too fussed as long as the quality is good. New Nightwish, however is a little different to previous releases. Tarja's voice is a lot less operatic, the music is a little heavier, less fast songs, The most significant change is new bass player Marco Hietala, who is also a great singer and contributes to 4 songs, with some lead and backing vox.

DP> Also, can someone give specifics about the new Dark Tranquillity? I'm DP> very interested in hearing what it's all about!

Official release in Europe is next week, if you like their previous album, 'Haven', then you'll dig the new one. Pretty much similar in style.
