Actually, I emailed Jordan last-minute to see if I could obtain a photo
pass. I showed him my G3 pictures from last year
(http://cout.dhs.org/g3/) and I think it might have swayed him a little
bit.

Where did you get Jordan's email is a better question... hehe I'll bombard
him with messages about how great the concert was.

I recieved my copy from The End Records (http://www.theendrecords.com) last Friday ($17.99 w/free shipping). I got through both discs once, but haven't had a chance to really listen to it yet. After listening to it once though, I think I'm going to like it a lot. I plan to get into it this weekend. Any opinions of this disc?

Chris, who is looking forward to the Pittsburgh show this Saturday

Unfortunately, he was just too far away for me to get any good shots of him. I only had the first fifteen minutes of the set to take pictures (that was, let me see, Pull Me Under and 6:00), otherwise I would have switched to the other side of the stage, but as it was, the audience was on its feet and in the aisles and I don't think I would have been able to make it in time to get any good shots.

And that is precisely why I couldn't give out his address. :P

:-)

Last night was by far the best DT show I've been to - sound, venue, lighting, stage presence - everything was top-notch.

Theater on the Ridge is either the Kodak corporate theater/auditorium or a college auditorium (or both). It looked very new, and provided the benefits of comfortable seating (unlike the Orpheum in Boston, ugh!), present but unobtrusive security, great visibility, and magnificent acoustics. If you wandered around the building a bit before the show (also in the building were classrooms, a small art gallery, and various "history of kodak" exhibits), you could find the cafeteria where the band members were eating and hanging out. I said hi to James LaBrie, but decided to leave the other guys alone, because some were eating and generally looked busy. Jenn claims that while I was in the bathroom, Ty Tabor smiled at her in a Joey Tribiani "So... How you doin'" sort of way. :-)

James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess were giving an interview in the cafeteria, but to whom I don't know. I did notice that they had a little pudgy chef statue set up in the backround - that was amusing. :-)

King's X came on right at 8:00. Except for the fact that the bass was difficult to hear, their sound was great - they were plenty loud, but not loud enough to require earplugs - a testimony to both the skill of the sound crew and the design of the building. I'm not familiar with their music, so I can't really comment on much, but they played very well and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Towards the end, Doug Pinnick and Ty Tabor came out into the orchestra pit, which got people excited.

A few times during the set, Doug Pinnick reminded the crowd that "We're King's X, from Houston, Texas." The first thing I thought of was, "We are Spinal Tap, from the UK; you must be, the USA!" Other than the fact that I noticed that Ty Tabor had a couple Line6 Pod Pros in his rack along w/ that bright green Line6 unit (delay?), I don't have much more to say about them.

DT came on at 9:00, starting with New Millenium, then 6:00. If I remember correctly, they then played Fatal Tragedy, then Surrounded. My memory gets fuzzy from there. In no particular order they played The Great Debate; The Spirit Carries On; Lines in the Sand (Doug Pinnick came out to sing backup on this one, as he did on the original recording - very cool!); the uber-instru-medley of Erotomania, Met pt 1, Paradigm Shift, Metallica's "One", Ytsejam (w/ Petrucci & Myung playing soccer while playing), and anything else I'm forgetting (?Learning to Live?). Petrucci, Rudess, and Myung also did this call-and-response duel that included bits of "When the Saints Go Marching In." I think the last one they did before the encore was Take the Time. Since Satriani wasn't with them last night, they got to play for 2 hours. For an encore, they did all of 6DoIT.

The only song they intro'd all night was The Great Debate, which leads me to believe that they feel particularly strongly about the issue - either that, or they just wanted people to know what it was about.

The lighting last night was very good. The other times I've seen them, the fog has been too thick or poorly done, making the stage look stagnant - kind of like the inside of a smokey bar. Last night, the fog was much thinner and there were several fans on stage that blew it around, making the smoke more noticeable. Again, the sound was great. DT was louder than King's X - pushing the earplugs-required threshold, but not breaking it except for a couple spots at the very end. Petrucci seemed to be having some technical problems throughout the night, but managed it very well and never missed a cue.

All-in-all a very pleasant evening. I'm definitely hoping that DT chooses to not only play Rochester again soon, but this theater in particular.

Hi!

On October 26th we will record our double live album "Ultra - Live" here in Germany. The album will contain over 2 hours of music and maybe even a little video.

And now it's your turn: You can vote for the songs, which should appear on the live album in your oppinion! Just have a look at http://www.meet-superior.de/live/ and give us your vote.

You can vote for up to 15 songs and also give them your priority from 1 to 15.

We will even choose one of the people who voted who will get an appearance in the liner notes of the live album. The person will also win a Behind t-shirt. So if you ever wanted to have your name in a band's CD, go there and _VOTE_!! :)

Greetings

Bernd (Superior)

If I had portable recording gear, I would have. But the only recording gear I've got is a Shure SM57 mic, AudioBuddy mic pre, and a 900MHz Athlon full tower computer. I think you can understand my not carrying around a 40 lb tower. :-)

I do hope that somebody taped it, the sound was very good.
