Sorry, but now I know for sure it's another Nicole. I'm very much a
brunette, have lived only in Texas and now California, have never been an au
pair (although I was a babysitter for a very short period of time...
monsters! all of them!), and have never driven a Volvo. So unless I was
suffering from amnesia, that wasn't me. ;)

I don't know about whether that's true or not, but when I met Zonder a few
years ago, I was trying to do a project for the DT fan club along the lines
of "Let's ask other prog musicians what they think of DT." When I asked
him, his response was an extremely chilly "no comment." So that project
went straight in the trash. heh.

It is very apparent to me that James' voice has indeed gotten better and mor
    e
consistent with age.=A0 Granted, he may not be able to hit the highest highs

night after night, but that's understandable.=A0 However, I saw the band a f
    ew
    weeks ago in Los
Angeles and San Diego and James' voice is sounding better than I've ever
    seen.=A0 The
San Diego show was my 32nd time seeing them and I've seen James on good
    nights
and mind-bogglingly amazing nights.=A0 I was noticing in LA & SD how he has
learned to consistently control his voice seamlessly when making the
    transition
from highs to lows and back again.=A0 My wife, who used to come with me in t
    he
early days (but hasn't seen them since '97 or '98) came to the LA show and
    she
even noticed it.=A0 Halfway through the show she leaned over and said "did
    James
always sound this good??A0 His voice is pretty much perfect!".=A0 I'm sure
     his
improvement has to do with all of the things mentioned here (more experience
    ,

better living, etc), but I think, as far as consistency, he is at the top of

his game.=A0 Early on he would just belt it out and invariably crack a few
    times
per night, but I haven't noticed any of that over the last few tours.

If that is true, I would love to know where they are. I am also looking for
a better version of metalica's master of puppets than the barcelona one, or
    whatever one they have out.

    Hi all,

I'm going through a DT boot that I recorded last year and just haven't had time to release. Sadly, I had to use my crap mic, as the plug on the good one is too dodgy. There are also various "issues" that make this one for the avid fan only! e.g. mobile phone battery low beep, the MD running out just before the amazing bit of the jam in By-tor And The Snow Dog, people talking, you name it...

Nevertheless, I believe it was the first time Number Of The Beast" was played, so I want to get it out there. The performance for the two days was amazing. I'm recording my MD's to .wav files, which I'm then going to normalise.

Is there any more (automatic) processing that would be a good idea without fucking about too much? Like many boots, it actually doesn't sound too bad when I crank it up. I think it is very high in mids though.

You might want to see your shows in Boston, then. For a few months now, all indoor workplaces and public places in the City of Boston, including nightclubs, have to be smoke-free. Although some people try to flout the ban, I found that the air in the places I visit to be noticeably cleaner than they were before.

There is a move afoot to make smoke-free places the law throughout Massachusetts, but I am unsure if the law has passed and, if so, when it would take effect.

Hopefully in time... Dallas, Texas restaurants are smoke-free except where they have bars inside.. Smokers can smoke in the bar area or in an area that has proper ventilation. In time we'll get there..

Peacefully disagree. I'd rather not have to risk my health while eating at a place I enjoy just because people want to smoke there. Smoking sections are a great solution. I'm not rigid enough to make smokers go outside when a section is available inside..

    -----Original Message----- From: StormDrake

Here in Florida, as of July 1st, there is no smoking allowed in indoor areas that sell food. That means no smoking in restaurants, or bars that sell food, et cetera.

Personally, I think it is a horrible law. I do not smoke, but if smoke bothered me enough, I'd just not support a place. Let the wallet decide what restaurants allow smoking, not the law. I think it is a restaurant owner's right to decide whether smoking should be permitted, just as it is the consumer's decision to decide where to eat.

Unfortunately, JM, the law dictates this because it's not the smokers' health or the non-smokers' health that they're worried about. Even the smokers will understand that a waitress who doesn't smoke has to deliver food and drinks to the smoking section. It's illegal for an employer to knowingly put an employee at risk to his or her life, even indirectly. So while I don't necessarily like the fact that I can't go into a bar in New York City and smoke, I CAN at least UNDERSTAND why the laws are the way they are. They're not for protection of the nonsmokers. They're for the protection of the waitstaff.
