Yeah, it is sort of quiet around here. What happened to everyone? After the
hype over Train of Thought was over, people stopped talking again. Well, just
thought I would wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New
Years, and all that good stuff.

While im at it, ill try to start up another conversation: How did you find
out about Dream Theater and whats been your favorite song/album of theirs?

For me, my dad turned me on to Dream Theater when I was 2 years old and I
loved them for awhile. Then I grew up and forgot about them. Well, I had played
the drums since I was 3 and stopped playing at 14 because I got tired of it.
The point where I became a huge DT fan was at a concert, the concert name
escaped me, however, because I really didn't want to go...so I thought. All I know
is that they polayed with Kings X and someother band I can't think of. I went
and it was like a light came down on me. I feel in love, and I went home and
started playing drums again. Since then, I can't get enough of DT and they have
become my absolute favorite band of ALL time.

Whats was your first experiance with DT when you became a fan like?

My friend gave me a copy of I&W. I thought it was wanky, then I finally got used to it. Then a year or so later, Awake came out. I thought it was even wankier. Then he gave me some Steve Vai, and I realised DT is good.

    Steve Vai is still wanky...

I found out about DT by reading about JP in guitar player magazine about ten or so years ago. I figured I=B4d see if there was anything by them the next time i went to a used cd shop. there I found Awake and I was hooked from then on. I even converted my wife to DT. She is of the Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood persuasion. jacko

I had some friends that listened to DT, and they gave lent me a copy of Awake when I was 15. I didn't like (I was still really into Metallica). Then, someone lent me a copy of LT2. Didn't like it either, too complex for me. Like a year after, I moved on from plain metal to power metal, mainly Angra, and I discovered that what I liked the most about the genre was the slightly progressive stuff they sometimes made, like meaningful (read: NOT like 'Tallica's) instrumental parts withtin the songs. So I said to myself "Hey, I'll give Progressive another chance". Luckily, my musical sense had grown enough to allow me to understand the complexity of progressive music, so I got hooked on it.
