Perhaps someone can answer this here, as I have looked at a few different
websites and cannot come up with an answer to this. The last 3 shows that I
have seen of DT (6doit, Satch/DT, QR/DT) John Petrucci has not been using a
wireless on his guitar and has seemed to have opted for rather long
intrument cables. Although it does not seem to have hampered his movement,
on the contrary he seems to be a bit more active over the past 3 shows - he
seems not to just stand in one spot making his usual faces. I noticed that
on this tour, John Myung switched back to wireless, he was wired on the last
two. Unless I am in the dark this seems like a step backward
technologically. Just wondering why this is the case.
As far as the instrumedly not being played, have seen it once, and was
pretty happy that they opted to go for more James Inclusion. BTW, I missed
something, apparently the 1990's reference in the lyrics to Learning to Live
has been replaced. I miised what James replaced it with. Did any one else
catch what he said?

It may depend on the venue where they play in each city. Some may allow
it, and some may not. Some may not be up to standard so they have to use
cords.. Just my guess.

Ah, the "knowing nod" and "even though this looks difficult, I can play it
in my sleep smile".

Perhaps he watched some 70's rock concert videos like AC/DC "Let There Be
Rock" and Led Zeppelin "The Song Remains The Same", and realised that now
everything's wireless, it's actually quite odd, and gives an aura of retro
cool, to plug in. Perhaps he couldn't afford the kit after the poor sales
of SFAM. :P Perhaps he thinks it affords better sound quality, although
this seems odd considering he has the biggest rack since Queen Victoria.
Nope, the only plausible explanation is that he wants more equipment on
stage to compete with the visual impact of the drums. :P

If I'm not mistaken, what he's singing is "These days bring new questions,
new solutions to be found."

Did that new Rush DVD come out yet? I thought it was set for early
July...

Or maybe "the 2090s"?
Wilmington show was great, aside from the lightning delay: they gave Fates
Warning the heave-ho about two notes into what, I guess, would've been
"Monument." We then got to stand around for well over an hour, all the
while in the dark as to whether the show would be cancelled altogether,
before they began setting up for Queensryche.
The Queen Theater / Dreamryche collaboratory pieces, incidentally, were
"The Spirit Carries On", "Take Hold of the Flame", and "Comfortably Numb"
(Pink Floyd). Kinda makes you wish DT had two guitarists all the time...

Forgive me if this was already answered... "NM156" is an oldie, from "The
Warning." Probably one of my favorite QR songs, if only for the oddity of
it. The "Last Action Hero" track you mention is called "Real World" and
has a "Promised Land" vibe (same recording sessions I believe). Oddly
enough, the QR Wilmington set featured zero tracks from that album, and
only, I believe, one from later than 1990. Huh. Guess they know what the
audience wants!

Hehe, he does so many of those on the DVD... it's like "Can you believe it,
I'm actually playing this!" and "All you kiddies out there trying to play
this solo at home, see what I did? Did you catch that? Bet *that*'s not in
your dodgy powertabs!"
