A recommendation of a band from my hometown:
James Band is a brilliant prog rock band from Kristiansand, Norway. They
have released ~5 LPs and one cd (cds are more expensive, so they prefer
vinyl), all in limited numbers - but all their music is freely available at
their website http://www.jamesband.com/
Also, for the more extreme people I just discovered Ephel Duath - an
italian black metal band who got jazzed, i.e. the main man got new
musicians for the new record (entitled the painter's palette), mainly with
jazz-background (including a 47-year old drummer!), and the result is a
bizzare mix of metal, jazz and rock! check em out at
