I'm assuming that based on the threads on the Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy
forums that Train of Thought is now downloadable from the internet. It's too
bad everyone could just wait for the release date to come around. It really
wouldn't have been that hard to do. I for one, will not be downloading the
Dream Theater album and will be purchasing it on Tuesday Nov. 11.

    Just my 5 cents,
    Ben

I think that unless "As I Am" is singularly unrepresentative of Train of
Thought, I'll be in the same position viz a vis Dream Theater as you find
    yourself with regard to QR.

I don't understand what the big deal about waiting is. I mean, the people
who download it, the majority of them anyway, are going to be paying for
the album regardless. So it's not like the band's losing out on money.
Who cares WHEN you hear it? Release dates are nothing but stupid
marketing ploys anyway; for proof, just check out how upset Scholastic was
when a reviewer put the picture of the Harry Potter book in the paper (an
act, by the way, that was neither illegal nor immoral). They SUED because
the reporter "ruined their marketing strategy", which, last I checked,
    wasn't even close to illegal.

Yeah, i imagined it would be like that. When 6doit came out, I preemptively
downloaded it... shouldn't have. I'm gonna wait this year :)

Ok, I was gonna post this later but someone mentioned it already.
If you're pre-ordering from CD Universe, they're a bunch of tards so beware.
I ordered a CD and got an email "your CD has been shipped on 10/17"...
charged me five freakin dollars shipping when we all know shipping from
states to canada or states to states for a CD is 2 bucks MAX... the CD
arrived in a multiple-side-cracked case and had a sticker saying it was send
on 10/20. Not to mention I got it on 11/03 and I got another CD that day
from someone who mailed it to me from a neighboring state on 10/31. Either
the post office is filled with morons or CD universe is a crap retailer who
can suck my nuts. Or both, that's equally possible.
Needless to say, pre-ordering the new DT could mean I will prob get it about
10-14 days later, so screw that im marching to my local record store, it's
    faster.

Hey, I think it's only fair to post this...
It's inevitable that some or all of us will end up downloading ToT, so out of respect for the ones that won't download it, I think it makes sense not to post any references to the album until at least the release date. If, for some reason, that's too difficult for some people and you can't resist posting something, do everyone a favor to avoid the flames and put SPOILERS in big caps in your message subject and on the first line of your message.
The next 5 days will be a long wait :)

DO NOT talk about ToT until Tuesday. I know it is available out there
and I know plenty of people probably have it, but even things like
SPOILERS in the title does not work. So, please, wait the 5 days until
Tuesday and then we can debate about the disc until we're all blue in
    the face.

They had Godsmack on 93X this afternoon and mentioned to them that Dream Theater beat their song. They then went into some DT bashing for a few seconds. I was surprised to find out that Godsmack even knew who they were. They complimented Mike as "a monster", but called James "gay" and proceeded to call anything with La in its name gay. They said that As I Am sounds like Incubus, or at least the ten second snippet that they heard. They definitely made me think higher of their music.... or not.

Sadly enough, I think I prefer the TV show to the QR album. (!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, those who saw DT and QR in Atl., but I don't think QR played -anything- from Tribe at all. Did they?

I remember they played a new song during soundcheck, but did NOT play it during the show, which I kinda thought spoke volumes about the new CD.

I can't speak to the Atlanta show, but I was at three other shows on that leg, and they played Tribe at each one of those...I can't imagine they'd have skipped songs from Tribe in Atlanta, unless there was some sort of technical problem for it.

If anything, though...I would think it speaks volumes about the extent of their back catalog, and yes...knowing that those who are into both bands are more likely to be old school Ryche fans. Anyhoo...they played *plenty* of the new album on their own tour, which was GREAT, by the way.
