Well, I'm afraid all I can do is make an educated guess on this
one, but based on the submitted material for the discog, I would say Eve
is a 1 1/2 minute instrumental that is slow, hard, with "crunch" guitars
by Petrucci and high-end lick by Moore. If you have the Live in Tokyo
video, it's right before Take The Time.
Also to general Ytsejam readers... you all probably know more
about the releases than I do, so if you see a problem in the discog tell
me and I'll correct it. A lot of the stuff is submitted in email to me for
inclusion in the discog... I try to credit all sources.
A few final notes "to all"
1. What's this about a 2-track promo live CD? And where to I mail to?
2. If Ytsejam is Majesty backwards... what's Bombay Vindaloo mean?
3. What the HELL is Approach? Saw it on one bootleg and that's IT.
Cheers...

I'm going to a record show this weekend (hopefully!) and I plan on getting
some cool DT stuff. My friend got the Dance of Eternity last time. It's
pretty cool. What other boots would you recommend? I saw somewhere that one
had a bass solo in it. Which one was this and was it good? I would also like
to hear James doing some more of the old songs. I would really like to hear
Status Seaker but I think that only on the cassette single, corect? I think
that one boot has Only a Matter of Time with James. Is this one good?
If you have suggestions or thoughts, could you please e-mail with them?!
By the time the digest comes out, it will be Sat. night and by the time I read
the responces it would be Sunday nigth (which would be too late, since I'm
going on SUnday). PLEASE E-MAIL!!

BTW - could someone please tell me how to send a file over the net using elm?
Thanks!

Hi,
Hm, seems like LaBrie ain't too popular here on the net! Here's my
own personal experience with the band. I saw Petrucci and Portnoy at a
Meanstreak concert. Portnoy was really outgoing and seemed to be really
happy to talk to everybody. Petrucci was trying to avoid attention, and
seemed shy and quiet when I went up to him, but he answered my questions
and was friendly, if not outgoing.
Later,

Yea, I kinda got that slight impression from the I&W lyrics. It
doesn't bother me at all; I respect bands who can be subtle about
this, just as Myung's lyrics in "Learning to Live" are subtle....

King's X is a reference also to King's Cross, an Underground station in London. They are definitely Christian in origin. "Out of the Silent Planet" proves this. :)

Eve is listed as the intro to Pull Me Under on DoE, and it's not that thing before Take the Time. It starts out kindof mellow, with some sampled speech of a guy going "Once upon a time, and a very good time it was, there was a moo cow ......". Whenever I hear that though, it sounds very familiar, but I can't remember what it is. I think it might be some tv show/movie theme song (Not Mission Impossible). Maybe the guy in europe who has all those videos and bootlegs could figure it out, since I seem to remember one of them having several tv show instrumentals.

One word on those who say that if LtL is about the general subject of AIDS then it's poorly written since that connection doesn't immediately come across. If you need to get hit over the head with a freakin' baseball bat to have a song make sense - go listen to someone else. Myung is not campaigning for public office - he can be as ambiguous as he likes.
Don't burst blood vessels sweating the meanings - there won't be any test on it.

The Images & Tour! boot is good because it's sound board tapes (I FINALLY got an original of this one, and I put the new liner notes in a revision of the discography, to follow) and the tapes are of very high quality. My only complaint about it is that they must have run out of tapes or something because they snuck in "Bombay" from LATM, and it dosen't really fit into the show.

I NEED to find that cassette single... it was submitted as an entry to the original discog I was doing a while back, but I never did find a copy. I don't know any other boot that has Status Seeker live. If we can get that, then only one DT song will not have been recorded live... The Ones Who Help.. etc.

Portnoy is a blast... you can just tell from the video that it's him and Kevin Moore who are having all the fun... so to speak.

A word of thanks goes here to the dozen-odd folks who wrote to me with needed changes. Since I lost my old account (aumpb@asu.edu) I need you to write me back at garion@indirect.com and tell me who you were, I want to give name credit in this discography.
Many thanks to the following for their additions and corrections: * Randall Haskin (strega@stien1.u.washington.edu) This guy has done everything short of the editor's job on this thing. He's given me additional release info (Dance of Eternity CD) and corrected an assortment of minor mistakes I made in the original. Seems he keeps finding new things to add as well. Many thanks go here.

I had a Japanese exchange student friend of mine translate what the Japanese girl says durring The Intterview. This is the translation.....
"I know you will do well in Japan, do your best! Good Luck."
Kevin's fake translation was a little more humorous IMHO.

Seeing as there were two posts regarding the Gibraltar digest in yesterday's Ytsejam, here's some info. Gibraltar is a weekly digest which contains reviews and other sources for progressive rock. It is also a good source for tour dates. Most of the bands focused on are lesser known than the common DT, Rush, Genesis, etc. mail gib@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu to subscribe. Pete

OK guys, I see a new slew of people asking about the promo CD's that were sent out. Sorry guys, someone had a few of them and gave 'em all out. He's just receiving his well-deserved thanks's. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but my mailbox is starting to fill up with questions about where to get the CD!
Party on,

You said you're not into heavy stuff, that's why you like Fates Warning????? If Night On Brocken is anything like their other early stuff, you may not enjoy it too much! By the way, WHERE'D YOU ORDER IT FROM? I want it! (And Spectre Within, & No Exit. . .)
