    Subject: Lost In The Sky!!!

Holy shit!!! I just got back from picking up Lost In The Sky from my
CD shop... It is absolutly AMAZING!!! I love these CDS!!!! I am
just starting my second listening right now!!!.

The packaging is awsome!! As good as, if not better than DoE!!!
The case itself looks like AC/DC's live set, if you have ever seen
it... It is a cardboard case about the height and width of the old CD
    longboxes...

Let's see... there are a few minor problems that make me hesitant to
give the discs an A+ rating... Take The Time is a little screwey....
Also, there are a few imperfectins with a few songs (when comparing to
DoE, that is)... Afterlife and Mission Impossible are great. I love
the new instrumentals that they do... The new ending for Forever
(replacing Barfbag) and the ending for OAMOT... It definatly reminds
me of something... maybe One Who Help To Set The Sun... I don't
     know...

Definatly can tell that this is a soundboard... There is some
incredible stereo imaging during Pup... definatly lacking in any
    radio broadcast, such as DoL.

I like how the tour is labeled also... Was it really called the "When
    Dream & Tour Unite"?

I now honestly believe that Why Not? is one of, if not the best
bootleg companies, for sound and packaging. I also just picked up a
new Pearl Jam set (from their radio concert) that is on Octopus
Records, distributed by Why Not? It also has that same little
origional soundboard recording label on it... It is also awsome
    sounding.

That also leads me to believe that DoE is NOT soundboard... It
probably would be labeled if it was...

I brought this up before, something for the FAQ, but everybody told me I was wrong. Well, I have proof now :) Kevin Moore did *NOT* go to Berklee. He did in fact go to Fredonia's school of Music (State University of New York, college at Fredonia; I go here too although I'm transfering after the semester). It says this in the Majesty Demo that was recently advertised on the net. Here's the whole bio :

MAJESTY was formed in Sept of 1985. Guitarist, John Petrucci and bassist, John Myung met up with drummer, Mike Portnoy while attending the Berklee COllege of Music in Boston. Petrucci and Myung had already played together along with keyboardist Kevin Moore, in their home town of Kings park, Long Island. During their first semester at Berklee, Portnoy (from Long Beach Long Island) Petrucci and Myung rehearsed daily and worked on original material.

During Dec of 1985, while home for Christmas break, the trio was joined by Moore. MAJESTY spent the next several weeks at home writing and rehearsing until mid-January, 1986, when Petrucci, Portnoy and Myung returned to Berklee, while Moore returned to Fredonia's School of Music (told ya :). In March of '86, vocalist Chris Collins joined the band to complete their line up.

In order to persue their musical career, no band member returned to school in the fall of '86.

ANd that's that :) Something for the FAQ :) Chris

Well, I just returned from the local import shop with a new double soundboard boot called "Lost In The Sky". Here's the Track List:

CD1 Metropolis 9:23 Mission Impossible Theme/Afterlife 7:46 Undera Glass Moon 7:38 Wait For Sleep 3:02 Surrounded 6:01 The Ytse Jam (w/drum solo) 10:51 Instrumental (barfbag?)/Take The Time 12:48

CD2 To Live Forever/Instrumental 12:18 Another Day 5:19 Only A Matter Of Time 8:25 Pull Me Under 8:49 Eve (without lyrics) 5:00 Learning To Live 13:32

This is a really good soundboard recording recordrd in Italy on November 15,'93. The instrumental after Forever is NOT the same one as on the LiT Tokyo - it actually is a totally different 6 minute song. It is a development of part of the LiT solo, and it still needs work, but sounds great nonetheless. Afterlife and Only A Matter.. sound great, and James does not mess up on the "the time will come when dream and day unite" part.

Unfortunately I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, so I can't tell you all of the cool quirks, but my favourite so far is at the beginning of Forever when james says "you've probably heard this song on a bootleg before.."

Two things, gang. 1) Is the list on? I haven't gotten it lately (okay. Say it. "Newbie!":)

    2) I'm doing an impromptu poll. I personally got into Dream Theater on recommendations from the Genesis mailing list, Paperlate, as well as the Marillion mailing list, Freaks. On Ytsejam, there seems to be a bunch of prog-heads, as well as a lot of metal-heads.

So, the poll is this. Are you 1) A prog-head 2) A metal-head (for lack of a better term. Sorry!) 3) a prog-metal fan (i.e. DT, more Progressive, but like the metal) 4) a metal-prog fan (i.e. Fates Warning, emphasis on the Metal)

Reply to this message, if you're on the bounce list; I've got my filter looking for the heading. If not, mail mdb0213@tamsun.tamu.edu, Subject of "ProgVMetal", with your response. (if you want, make it detailed. but try to include one of the numbers)

    Thanks! Rev

    Hi ytsejammers,

Someone on the new newsgroup 'alt.music.dream-theater' said that Dream Theater will be touring with Queensryche. Can anybody confirm this news? Although I'm a big Queensryche fan I hope DT will NOT tour together with them. A great band like DT should headline !!!

Hi ytsejammers, I've posted this before, but the server seemed to be down. A few days ago I was watching MTV's 'headbangers ball'. The first song they showed us was 'Take the Time'. After that I heard some cool information about the status of the new album. Dream Theater is currently recording their new album in L.A. with the producers John Purdell and Duane Barron. These producers also worked with Ozzie Osbourne (the album 'No More Tears'). The album that will be released in september (?) and will include 10 songs. The FAQ says the new songs will all be very long songs. 10 long songs on one album ???

    Tony-

I can tell you for sure that DT is not touring Europe. They are in the studio in LA with John Purdell and Duane Barron. Look for a tour in the fall. I'll update you on any new info that I come across.
