Hey, why don't we hold off on the shirts until the new album comes out?
I don't want another heart shirt, and a big "M" on the front would make
you look like a superhero...

Maybe they'll come up with something inspirational themselves?

Then you can write all the lyrics to "A Change of Seasons" on the back...

Oh, hey... How about an hourglass? They have been in both videos...

I like the idea of the heavier cotton t-shirt too.

Time for my $0.02 worth

How about the flaiming heart with the Majesty "M" superimposed over the heart ?
ideas/modifications (Anyone have any ?)

My husband was looking over the discography I downloaded from FTP last night and wanted me to mention that the following items should be included:

1) Status Seeker US promo CD single Mechanic/MCA CD45-17783 - Status Seeker (4:15) remixed by Terry Brown

2) Afterlife US promo CD single Mechanic/MCA CD45-17784 - Afterlife (5:27) remix by Terry Brown

3) Another Day US promo CD single Atco PRCD-5090 (with picture sleeve) - Another Day (4:22)

4) Take the Time US promo CD single Atco PRCD-4911 (with picture sleeve, purple ribbon around jewel box, wax seal) - Take the Time edit (5:57) and Take the Time LP version (8:21)

5) Dream Theater Live US promo CD single Atco PRCD-5340 (black and white picture sleeve) - Pull Me Under live (8:42) and Surrounded live (6:00)

The Status Seeker and Afterlife CD singles are in identical cardboard sleeves, same design as the WDADU cover. They are silkscreened picture disks.

He also wanted me to mention that the French import of WDADU has a green-tinted cover instead of blue.

Finally, a question: which country's version of I&W has Ytse Jam live on it? In the discography it's listed on the Vertigo label...is that UK? Germany?

Hi gang,

The t-shirt idea is a good one. I suggest that whoever is going to actually put this together talk to meg@syrinx.umd.edu, who did the NMS t-shirts.I have one of these, it is ash colored, has great designs on front and back, is ink not heat transfer, and only costs $15. Also, it might be cool to modify a quote like on the NMS shirt, "One likes to believe in the freedom of email". Like, "You can find all you need in your terminal" (just kidding! But you get the idea. . .). Anyway, keep posting those ideas.

Party on

howdy all....

Reading all these opinions on shirts gave me the itch to share my thoughts on the subject, so here goes:

1. Definitely not a black shirt, too cliched. Ash, dark green, mauve, bluish purple, something different. White would be ok, but still there are lots around, and they do end up loooking shitty after a couple of years.

2. Flaming heart front/majesty logo back: NO!!!! Already have this one (the one with "Images and Tour 92" on it. Got it a year and a half ago.

3. My quotes of the day for the shirt:

"Life is no more assuring than love"

"Close your eyes, you'll find all you need in your mind"

(The italian version of the ..much clearer...blind thing)

"If faith is the answer, we've already reached it, and if spirit's a sign then it's only a matter of time"

"If i'd started from the top, and worked my way down, there'd be no reason to live forever"

"I can remember when, in the unity of our five-day sessions, not even once did we hear the siren-song"

"Now we're the ones who help to set the sun"

"Love is the dance of eternity"

"I was blinded by a paradise, utopia high in the sky"

I am kinda partial to the italian one, the matter of time one, or anything that is not "balls and crunch...." this may be a direct quote from Portnoy or whoever said it, but it is still stupid. Maybe he was being sarcastic?

In an unrelated note, I have in my hands two video boots of the rush counterparts tour. One of houston and one of dallas. the houston on is ok, but the dalllas one is excellent! anyone interested in tradig, mail me. I am especially interested in acquiring that LaTM promo disc, or any other promo disc for that matter, or maybe some dt or rush vid boots in return.

BTW I saw rush last night in San Antonio also (couldn't boot it, since we were in the 5th row center!) and they were in rare form! Man was it incredible!

Later everyone...

Could someone please post the address for the Dt fan club? The one that was mentioned in the last digest, where you can send in 16 bucks and get all of that cool stuff.

I would like to know if anyone has actually sent $16 and received something in return? If so, how long did it take? Please respond, I don't wanna waste 16 bucks. How are the "Images and Words" newsletters?

BTW - I can't WAIT to get that DT song book!! Does anyone know if it will have the bass and keyboard parts too? Maybe even drums!! The main thing that I care about is the keyboard parts.

I've been putting tht Take the Time transcription from Guitar mag into my sequence. So far I have the cool guitar/keyboard part that starts at about 4:34, the "funky" part, and the keyboard solo. This incudes rythm guitar, bass guitar and drums. It's really cool! I set it on loop and listen to it forever! It was also cool, I edited out the rhythm guitar, bass and drum parts for the keyboard solo and set them up in a loop and then just jammed over them on the keyboard for about 20 minutes!

I fuckin' love it! - Mike Portnoy

If you want a really good laugh at 2 or 3 morning, do as my roomate and I did:

Buy the DT Boot CONSCIOUSLY UNREAL

And put on tracks 12-the end that feature Charlie Dominici on Vocals.

He destroys Metropolis and cannot even sing his own song "The Killing Hand".

It only makes me wonder how this guy was ever hired for the band in the first place. I mean he's not the original signer, and I'd hate to imagine how awful the real first guy is!

DEATH TO DOMINICI!! HE SUCKS..HE SUCKS..

I went to a cd show this pass weekend and picked up a few DT bootlegs: DoE-this one is great well worth the $40, great quality -I was just pissed because the part of the case that holds the cds -were broken Home Sweet Home-not bad quality, single cd, I don't remember if this - is in the FAQ or not, I don't think it is the whole show -I was pissed because it has Status Seeker listed as one of the songs -and when I went to that track it was Pull Me Under, but the cd -does have Ones who set the sun The Majesty Demos-this cd is good, the volume is a little low -boy, have they improved since 1986

I also picked up a boot video from Dec 1992 from HammerJacks in Baltimore, haven't watched it yet but the dealer played some and showed me how James high notes don't sound very well on the tape. The video quality looks good though.

Hello all. I just wanted to share some info about some tapes that I just got in the mail today (thanks Bret, if you get YTSEJAM) First of all, I got a copy of a show from 90, when they were between singers, so the entire show is instrumental. Some cool stuff, but it also have working titles for some of the songs on I&W such as:

Take The Time was origionally Grab That Feel and Learning To Live was Creep With Tonality.

I also got some vocalist audition tapes. Included are John Hendricks, Steve Stone, John Arch (formerly of Fates Warning), Chris Cintron, and LaBrie.

Just thought that I'd share that info.

Date: Mon, 31 Jan 1994 14:15:07 -0500 (EST) From: Michael Burstin <mikeb@cs.brandeis.edu> Subject: Change of Seasons

Hello all... well, I have been listening to the DT singer audition tapes, and one of them (Chris Cintron) does Change of Seasons. Anyway, the lyrics are very clear in this version, and I think that I am going to try to get the lyrics from this version and see how they compare to the ones that Matt Pulver made before. (I have a copy of them somewhere).

Also, while I am mentining this audition tape, I should say that it is protty clear why LaBrie was choosen.

Steve Stone was not to great, he did a version of Metropolis very much like the (horrible) version that Dominici does on Consciously Unreal.

John Arch (Fates Warning) just has a voice that doesn't sound right for DT, Killing Hand and Fortune In Lies just was not right with him.

John Hendricks was not too bad, compared to theabove 2. Chris Cintron also is not bad, but I really don't think that anyone can compare to LaBrie... might just be that I am so used to him, but again, that't just my opinion.

(also, should mention that this tape, as well as the instrumental one that I mentioned before are always up for trades, as well as my entire DT collection, now with 7 tapes showes, 3 CD shows, and 2 sets of demos, with more coming soon :) -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | I was told there's a miricle for each day that I try | | I was told there's a new love that's born for each one that has died | | I was told there'd be no one to call on when I feel alone and afraid | | I was told if you dream of the next world | | You'll find yourself swimming in a lake of fire | | Dream Theater Metropolis (part 1) Images and Words | | Michael Burstin Brandeis University | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Let's Go Pens Let's Go Pens Lets Go Pens Let's Go Pens | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ For info on Dream Theater, some Steven Wright jokes, the master list of pickup lines, a revised history of the world, a few blond jokes: finger mikeb@cs.brandeis.edu >mikeb.finger.file

Definitely the best quotes suggested so far are "Close your eyes, you can find all you need in your mind" and "Love is the dance of eternity". All the others would look pretty silly on the back of a T-shirt. These two seem to stand on their own better.

Glow in the dark would be nice, but not necessary. 4) A picture of a theater would be great! Michael
