I gotta throw in my own 0.02 here...

I have yet to send in any cash to the "official" DT fan Club as listed in the
FAQ, until I hear that some other people successfully got something for their
money!

Back in February 1992, information surrounding a "new" DT Fan Club was posted
*here* to the YTSEJAM Mailing List. The ad read as the following (BEWARE!):

>>If you want to join the Dream Theater fan club and get all kinds of free
>>stuff, send $20 (+ $3.50 US, $5 Canada) to The Dream Team, P.O. Box 230156,
>>Hartford, CT 06123-0156. Send your name, address and shirt size.

I sent in my $23.50 (total) and NEVER heard from them or received a thing!!
Subsequent followups have proved NOTHING! 8^( So, kids, watch out out there...
God knows what kind of operations are being run out there...

I would like to unsubscribe from this list. I've tried twice to do so already, and nothing has happened. Could the List Maintainer or whatever please remove my name from the list.

Thanks,

Belfast, Northern Ireland...

Well it was only one disk that I saw... sometimes they keep part2 behind counter, or it could have been in one of those slimline cases... Generally single prices are either 10 or 15 pounds, (depending on who and how old the bootleg is) or 20 or 25 for doubles... _usually_ sometime there are exceptions, and it`ll be a bit cheaper or a bit more expensive (like if you happen to be a Beatles or Elvis fan)..

Well it`s not really a German version, it`s a European version, that`s easily available.. this is the version I`ve got and it contains the tracks Metropolis, Fortune In Lies, Bombay Vindaloo, Surrounded, Another Hand/Killing Hand and Pull Me Under..

I think the Japenese version has Another Day instead of surrounded.. but the price difference is because Japenese master better quality CD`s.. I know this may sound weird.. but it`s true... they use far superior technology when mastering CD`s, which is why it`s a little more expensive.. of course on an average player you`ll never notice the difference....

>>Surprising, I saw it in a show, listened to the first few songs, and >>the intro, and it sounded good. On;y reason that I did not buy it is

Well I have heard that bootleg and the quality is very indifferent, the quality at the start is average, but from the 3rd song (Only A Matter Of Time) on, it gets pretty bad....

The only apparent difference between LATM German and Japan is that one has Surrounded and the other has Another Day instead. Mike

recently about a year ago, i discovered Dt. I just happened to stumble upon them in a store (Camalot Records to be exact) and ever since been drawn to their type of music. unfortually around my neck of the woods there aren't any places to get bootlegs or copies of their old stuff (like WDADU.) I was wondering if anyone out there in ytsejam land would want to somehow let me thirst off their unending grace of letting me obtain a few copies, by copies i mean duplactes . it doesn't have to be the real thing. I just wnat to hear their old stuff and see if it is a excellent as the old stuff. please help thanks in advance steve wisinski 97wisinski@alma.edu

ps if anyone has any Dt music I'd love to get my fingers on some. also if anyone has ANY guitar questions about any aspect, please write me and i will do my best to find answers for you. thank you.

Has anyone heard whether Dream Theater will back-up Rush on their current tour? I read that on the Internet recently, but nobody seemed to be sure whether it was just a rumor. They also said that Candlebox might be the opener, so I was just wondering. Also, any news on the new album? -JJ

I have all the ones going back to issue 67 from May (though I have never bothered to check to see if I actually have every single one). Which ones are you missing Mike? I'd like to get 20-67 from you. I'd be curious to see the first 20 issues too just to see what they were like at the beginning -- if anyone has them. Should we be archiving these at an official ftp site?

Steve

I just got the boot from the Osaka, Japan show from November '92. One comment: 'Only a Matter of Time' is one of my favorite songs from WDADU, and I can't believe how much better it is live, and not just because of James. Both Kevin and John P. play lines at the start of the song that are MUCH more elaborate than on the album. Wow.

oh oh... i just sent my money to one fan club that someone posted about, too... had i known that people are not hearing from them, i might not have sent them money...since i only mailed it yesterday, i won't find out for a while if it was a scam or not. note: i also wrote to a fanclub of this band called The Tea Party... in the cd it said that if you mail in this coupon that came with the cd, you would get a free pass to their next gig, when they come to town . well they came for the second time last month, and i still haven't gotten a reply from the club. i sent it about 7 months ago. so there are many clubs that seem to be taking a while responding. probably because they are being run by ordinary people like me and you, and they just don't have enough manpower(personpower :) ) to mail out to all the people who want to join.

hmm, that's why i'm hoping i'll get a response soon...

Well, at least here in San Diego (February 7th), Candlebox is the opener for Rush. Candlebox is pretty good, but I would sure prefer seeing DT!
