We all know that people on the net receive information at different rates
because of network routing, etc. Some do not even receive the information
, and some people simply miss it because they have to sort through tons of
garbage. Well folks, I propose to start an Internet newsletter maybe
monthly or bi-monthly where we can gather information on progressive metal
bands such as Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Queensryche, and more of the
unknown bands such as Shadowland, etc... but we need YOUR input, we will
be gathering stuff off the net, media, etc to put into the newsletter.

    Let me have your input!

I'm sorry, this hasn't got anything to do with DT, but since recommendations of good bands have been approved before, I suppose you won't mind me posting this. The band is called Auditory Imagery. I bought their CD (EP?) called "Reign" about a week ago, because the shopkeeper at a local CD-shop said that it's kind of like Dream Theater.

After listening to this _a lot_ during the past week, I have to say this is great stuff. Some of you might remember me posting a similar message about a band called "Enchant".. Well, this is even better. Of course not nearly as good as DT, but still awesome.

Although few of you have heard Enchant, I want to compare AI to them.. AI is heavier (prog metal, Enchant was more like prog rock) and, IMHO, more progressive.

It's very hard to compare them to DT, since DT is so superior to all the bands I've heard. They're as heavy, or maybe even heavier, but they lack the skill and intuition DT have.

I don't know where they're from.. But my best guess is Montreal. In the lyric sheet they thank ppl from Montreal and some zine from Montreal as well.. And this CD was recorded in Stoughton, MA. (I have no idea where that is..)

Nevertheless, this is definitely worth buying if you like DT and similar bands. If any of you have heard them, I'd love to hear your opinions.

Anyway, any info would be great... //

I talked with someone in publicity at EMI on Thurs. and they said that there is NO release date scheduled but that it will probably be "a couple of months, at least" till it's released.

    Antti and others,

With the lack of new DT, we are all forced to search for other prograssive bands. AI is one of them. Another I highly recommend is DIVINE REGALE. Both of these bands are from the New England area (that's in the US). And ironically the two bands are rather friendly. I have mentioned DIVINE REGALE in one other post and figured that this was another good time to plug them. I recieved 2 messages from my first post and both of them got discs... What do you think about it guys????

I digress... if anyone is interested in CD, email me or Chris Anderson (the drummer in DIVINE REGALE) Chris's e-mail- PARALLELS@AOL.COM....... Discs are like $10, they made tapes too I think, probably $8 for those. They really kick ass with definate DT and Fates influence.....

    Thanks for your time......

Doc: When yoju mention pregressive bands, you seemed to forget probably the driving forces behind many of the newer bands mentioned: Yes and Rush. Was this mere oversight or on purpose? Thank you.

I am all for the Newsletter. I am new to the system and I find all of this information so helpful, I cannot even picture how I got by before the newsgroups. If anyone out there has any information on Crimson Glory or WatchTower I would be grateful. Thanx.

Then again, I've NEVER heard "Take the Time" done well. That's one song that DT just can't pull off live. It's too hard on James' voice and it needs the harmonies during the chorus. They should probably drop it from their show (Which is too bad because I like the song).

Hi... I was just wondering... did any of you get postcards from Metal Blade announcing Inside Out? I just got a card in the mail today (I would have had it alot sooner, but it was sent to my school address, so it had to get forwarded here)... I have _NO_ idea how I got on their mailing list... I am just wondering if anyone knows how I got there... (I don't belong to any record clubs, fan clubs, etc... I have once sent a letter to the DT fan club, but have not joined yet...) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here got the card, or had any idea how they got names...
