So more people ARE getting it... I like this... I like it a LOT.
Any band that treats its fans well is going to keep a lot more of them.
I'm a recent KX convert, but they grow on me more and more...

Rush Video Montage! Current Order Status - 13 September 1994
    . . . . . . .

    NOTICE!!!!!!!
Current orders will be cut off as of 30 September 1994. The reason is
that I am moving, and I will only be able to take my own SVHS VCR to my new
dwelling. The other one belonged to my parents, and, as would be expected,
they are going to be needing it in order to watch their OWN tapes! :) With
only one VCR, I will be limited as far as video copies go. Hopefully, I can
find a roomie who DOES have his/her own VCR, as the first roomie I know I
will have, has none. It's a house rental, so one or two more people could
conceivably come into the picture. Alas, even at best, I don't expect anyone
who moves in to the rental house to have an SVHS deck, only a VHS.

This will become a regular posting to Ytsejam for as long as the
Rush Video Montage is available, to give you instant feedback on whose
orders I am getting and what their current location is. I will post it once
a week, twice if I have time, to let you all know how things currently
    stand.

I did the last MAIL stop >one< days ago, so by the time most of you
read this, if your name is in the mailed list, you should HAVE your tape.
Anyone who dosen't have it that is on the mailed list, contact me right away!
(well, unless you're almost at the bottom, as those DID just get mailed, you
might want to wait a few days.)

The 'taped' list is tapes I have recorded completely, each time I get
a chance off from work or class, I drop by the post office to mail all of
those. This is a minimum twice a week, so you know that your tape will go no
longer than 3 days waiting to be mailed. These are ready to go, and will go
    out as soon as possible!

The 'current queue' means I cashed your check, bought your tape, and
it's in the pile I currently have to record. Yes, I use your own money to buy
the material. I run a profit margin of about 25 cents on these things, since
it's mostly a favor for the Ytsejam list in the first place, so please don't
get on me about money (some folks have!) it's not like I'm buying limos. I
buy YOUR tapes with the money you sent, and your stamp, etc. Thus, if your
check clears, it's in my current queue or else it's done. I do not let the
current queue grow to more than 8 tapes. At that point I stop buying tapes and
wait until I get a few orders out. This is so that you don't have to wait a
loooooooong time between the payment and the product.

The 'new orders' list comes in here. I have your order, but a huge
backlog already, so I haven't cashed your check yet. I'll get to these as
soon as the current queue drops. I will usually clear out a full queue and
then add 6-7 new orders, buying your tapes all at once.

To those of you who have waited to order: THANK YOU!! The order queue
is gradually, gradually shrinking. The longer you wait, the less the delay
before you get your tape. I am closing in on a one-week turnaround time, and
I hope to make it to 72 hours or less as activity from the list becomes more
or less regular and mostly the new folks order it (as the veterans will all
    have it!)

I'd like to apologize to you all once again for how long it's taking
me to get through all of these, I had no idea how many of you would want
them, but they are getting done as fast as they can be. Please bear with me
and be patient, I will try and minimize the wait as much as I can!

UPDATE: I've been able to really clear down the queue a lot, hopefully the
wait will be short for most of you at this point.

MAILED! You should have your tapes.

    I never really was much into King's X (I know they are Christian;
is this suppossed to mean Christ's Cross? pretty clever if this
is so). Their music sounded so *thin* to me. I am making no
criticisms of their musicianship which I think is top form.
I saw them a few months back when the 'Scorps came through.
I have to say, other than Eric J. opening for Satch, they were
by far the best opening band I've seen. They sounded so
*powerful* onstage as compared to any of their studio stuff.
They are such a great band that I'm wondering if they're
just suffering from poor production (please flame if I'm
totally off base). They really connected with the crowd (I was
at the rail) really well, too...

    ..just some non-_ _ thoughts...

anyone who hasn't gotten Inside Out, get it! It's my second
favorite Fates album behind (*gasp!*) Parallels. I'm not being
a progressive-poser, either, since I had Perfect Symmetry and
No Exit for a long time before I obtained Parallels. (PS would
come third, but then, I don't have anything else). I totally
disagree with the opinion of some that the relationship
between PS and the subsequent release of Parallels parallels
(pun intended) that of QR's Mindcrime and Empire. Empire is
*a lot* different than Mindcrime. I do think ||s is more
*subtile* than PS but not *weaker*.

    later on,

Zach "Waiting for the rainbow's end." (Oct.4th)

Hey- wouldn't it be great if Kevin joined up with FW
for the next album? Just as a project...

    Dude,
I think you got the wrong guy. I would love a limited addition of Awake
but I'm not the one your looking to order it from. I unsubsribed to
ytsejam a few weeks ago. How you got me is a mystery
Good luck in your search anyway.

Hey everyone - I saw a post on alt.rnr.metal about DT being on IRC
this Thurday night at 10:00. The post said that it was "10:00 EST",
which makes me wonder if they really meant 10:00 EST since we're still
on daylight savings now...anybody have a clarification?

    Thanks,

Well guys hate to break the news but DT and FW will not be touring, well at
least the first leg of the tour! Ray Alder, during a news conference at the
Foundations Forum wished that FW would be able to tour with DT. After talking
to Brian Slagle (Metal Blade) and Jim Patulski(sp?), one of DT's managers, it
doesn't seem like a go. The standard "politics" was the issue but I highly
feel it's something more then that! DT has a confirmed act that I know about
and will be giving that information out as soon as I can. It also seems to
me, after attending the Foundations Forum, that Fates is on the verge of a
break up. I surely hope that doesn't happen, but with the type of budget
Metal Blade has been producing lately for touring and video production it
seems like it a break up is in the makings! Please, keep in mind this is what
I feel and by no means do I want to start any ugly rumors, I hate to see such
a talented band go but sometimes you just get that weird feeling that
something's up! On the other hand, I was lucky enough to get an advance copy
of Awake (first generation) and some extra DT stickers. If you are looking
for DT stickers, check with the RIP magazine issue that has Henry Rollins on
the cover, there will be one in the middle of the magazine! Take care
    everyone! Tony K :{)}

I thought it would be cool if some of us could check out the IRC tonight
around 10pm-12am EST. I'll be jumping in and out. If you wanna hook up,
send me some mail at lhartm1@gl.umbc.edu . Lets think of some good questions
    to ask the band.

I still wanna find out who is singing on Wanted Dead or Alive, and who is
doing the Beavis and Butthead impression in the background.

I also wanna know who sings the 2nd (?) verse of O Holy Night. Charlie
does the rest but I don't know who else is singing.

We should also ask if they know if Kevin is gonna do a solo album and a
tour or anything. Maybe he could open for DT!!!!

Does anyone know which members are gonna be irc?

Also, there's a snippet of "6:00" at the ftp site.

The ytsejam subscription database became corrupt a few days ago.
The backups since then were also corrupt, so all changes since
    Monday afternoon may be lost.

If you have made any changes to your account since Monday, you'll
probably have to redo them. (For example, if you unsubscribed and
you are seeing this message, you need to unsubscribe again.)

Okuda-san and Krysten's changes I've made, and there will probably
be a few more that I'll do (if I can find record of the transactions).

Apologies for the inconvenience. I've fixed a bug in the backup
program so this shouldn't happen again...

There seem to be some questions about the DT special on MTV. It will be shown on sunday 18th of september at 11.00 (central european time). Further, it will only be on the European MTV. I will definitly tape the special, but I'm afraid I can't make copies, because I don't have the equipment. :(

What is a .sit (Somewhere In Time :) ) file? My knowledge of Macs is rather rudimentary, restricted to that of my girlfriend's PowerBook :).

    Hi,

I am listening to Black Jester's CD as I write (for about the seventh time now) -- I love it! I recently borrowed it from Michael Backof (thanks Mike!) who said that he thought it was in the Dream Theater vein. I have to say that I definitely agree. In fact, it's the closest I've heard any band come to the Dream Theater sound (much closer than Fates Warning or even Magellan (IMHO)). They aren't a clone of DT, fortunately -- they have their own sound, though they probably aren't quite up to DT's level of musicianship. But, I love all of the riffing and jamming that goes on, even while in the background behind the singing. And I especially enjoy the dynamics, the way they'll be jamming, pause, pick things up, pause, and go again. Wonderful. That kind of dynamics reminds me of the best of the old Rush and Yes and, of course, Dream Theater! The music is generally guitar dominated, but the keyboardist often provides tasteful harmonies and will also jam right alongside the guitar -- cool. It's all very tight, with complex rhythms, time changes, and great dynamics -- the slower 'acoustic' sections complement the heavier parts very well. The songs average about 7 minutes in length and never really drag on (IMHO) -- it's a strong album overall. Black Jester is apparently an Italian band, but the vocals are in English. My only complaint would be that because the vocals are pretty low in the mix, it is rather hard to understand the lyrics. I do like the vocalist though -- he's got a fairly aggressive style that goes well with the music. I've called a store in Balitimore (Of Sound Mind -- (410) 529-7082) and they have a couple of the CD's in stock. I'll be buying this CD as soon as possible. :-) Since it's a German import, you'll probably have to get it from an import shop (or order it from a place like Of Sound Mind). Anyway, as you can probably tell, this band has really impressed me and I'm already looking forward to trying out their earlier album (don't know the name). Just thought I'd let you know about them... Let me know if any of you try them out, or already know of them (is anyone familiar with their first album?).

    Steve

P.S. Here's the info on the album. I'm sure a place like Of Sound Mind could order it, if they're out of stock:

Artist: Black Jester Album Name: Welcome to the Moonlight Circus Year Released: 1994 Total Time: 46:37 Label: Music is Intelligence Catalog #: WMMS 037 Recorded: in Germany
