    You got it, Sean...

That is indeed the Steve Morse Band playing in Ski Patrol. Cut to the Chase from Southern Steel is prominently featured, but you'll notice Steve's distinct playing throughout the film. I checked the credits and I didn't recognize some of the song titles, so I think some were written just for the movie.

Got my neighbor listening to Dream Theater now. It's kind of cool to be sittin' in your room doin' some Multi and hearing Take The Time and knowing that you're not the one playing it.

    (FYI: GTG = Get ToGether)

Okay, I'm also wondering about a Birch Hill gig GTG. Thing is, I don't know the area, and don't know WHERE there is TO have a gathering!

Anyway, I'll take the bull by the horns, since I'm DEFINITELY going now - called ticketbastard & got tix* - and try to get SOMETHING organized.

    I wanna hear from:

    1) All parties actually GOING to the show and INTERESTED in HAVING a GTG;

    2) Any party FROM the area, or from somewhere NEAR the area who can inform those of us from OUTSIDE the area where there is to HAVE a GTG!

Anyone who falls under either category, please send me email (erotomania@aol.com) WITH THE SUBJECT: GTG

That way I won't skip over it. =)

    Thanks, -HB

    * = If you call the Ticketbastard NJ line, you need to tell the person who answers to look under the NY file. I actually got a semi-cool operator dude, who told me that. Happilly he said, "I don't hang up until I find the show," and continued to look without prodding. Personally, I'm thinking of writing his supervisor a nice letter, since most TB operators are pricks. =)

1-703-273-5600 Date: Tue, 05 Dec 1995 11:02:17 -0500 Subject: Magna Carta Label Sampler

I would like to thank Jeff Chew for sending me a sampler of Magna Carta artists. I was wondering if I was ever going to get it.... My opinions:

Magellan: Waterfront Weirdos No Time for Words Storms and Mutiny

Just One Bridge Breaking These Circles

Kind of a cross between Marillion and Genesis. I think the keyboards are, at times, very Tony Banksish. The electronic drums do fit in with all the keyboards. I wish the guitar wasn't so nonexistant in this group.

Cairo: Silent Winter Season of the Heart

I didn't like them. The chorus in both songs both sucked. They seem to have ability, but they can't seem to be able to put it together on these two songs

Enchant: The Thirst Oasis Nighttime Sky

No one has mentioned this band on the list. I like them a lot. Nothing over the top about this band, but pretty solid. I'd buy their album.

Shadow Gallery: CliffHanger Crystalline Dream The Dance of Fools

Heavy and dark. That's the way I like my bands. The lead singer pulls a Geoff Tate on the first song and manages to sound different on the rest of the songs. I like this band.

Overall, this cassette is taking permament residence in my car.

And now for DT related content...

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but WJFK here in DC carries all of the Washingtion Redskins radio broadcasts from pregame show to a call in show after the game. They use a lot of heavy music fading into and out of commertials (sp) and DT is one of the bands they use. They use the intro to 6:00 a lot. I also think I've heard "Pull Me Under" in the backround a couple of times in the backround. Pretty cool.

    Hi folks!

I've not read or written to the jam for about 3 weeks cuz i've had a shit-load of work to do, and when you see your mailbox full of 100 unread jams it's kind of off-putting! Anyway, I see we're still talking about the pronounciation of YTSEJAM. Well, it's "yitsee jam". Yitsee, you see is japanese for strawberry, and is John M's favourite for spreading on his toast in the evening when he curls up in front of the fire with his mug of cocoa.

The mysterious keyboard that no one can figure out as Kev's third is a KORG DW-8000. A very old synthesizer (which I have) - it gives him all those fuzzy, retro Van Halen "Jump" sounds (like on "A Matter of Time" and PMU). You can actually see the side of it on the liner for WDADU in his picture. Doesn't Myung look freaky, though???? Bye for now. |\ Chris | \ |\ \ Faith | \ \ Hope ## \ | Love ### \| ## | | ## ### ##

    hey guys,

I was thinking ...... what if DT broke up and started seperate bands by themselves? Man that would be terrible!

But then I started thinking...well who would go good together as a band? So I started to think of good side bands they could have.

It would be neat if ....

John got together with...Flea, Sebastain Bach, & Neil Pert

Mike P. got together with....Daimond D, the singer for Queensrych, and the bassist/singer for The Presidents of the United States of America b/e he just looks cool.

James got together with....Steve Vai, Nick Menza, ME on keyboards, and the bassist for White Zombie ( you know why)

Mike M. got together with....the 2nd guitarist for AC/DC (b/e he just looks so lonely in those videos), the singer/guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band & the singer/harmonica player for Blues Traveler, the drummer for some really cool Latin band.

Well jammers what do you think? If you have any input please tell me.

    Thanks for reading,

    Brandon ( Stinkie-G)

    > I'm getting sick of reading about issues in this forum that > are in no FUCKING way related to DT.

Chill out man. Goodness. Some cat showed up on the Rush list with a big ol' post about how he doesn't want to read about some cat's trip to Lakeside Park or how someone actually went forward in time to 2112 and it was nothing like the album. He didn't think it was relevant and only wanted to discuss upcoming albums and tour dates. The thing about the 'jam is that sometimes a topic moves off into something else, like a conversation. So many people have posted that they don't want any non-DT. I guess we could all agree to add (DT) or (NDT) to the start off our message posts then people could quick and easy skip 'em. But the 'jam has survived and I for one like it this way. You meet cool people. Get special edition Rush CD's (thanks Mike Bahr - even though it's not related to DT) and find out about new bands.

So just skip the stuff you don't like. I'm at work right now. I read my mail a lot during the day. Are you gonna tell on me?

As has been said so many times before, skip what you don't want. Why the heck to you care what I study in school or do at work? Jealous? :P

Hi! I am glad everyone else knows about circular breathing. Once it is mastered it is a beautiful thing but, well, who the hell can master it? Anyway, in response to Steve's question about singing. I honestly don't know how it is done. I am also a woodwind player and I purchased a book back in my days of ignorance that I used with my teacher. It was about circular breathing solely for woodwinds. There were also books available for brass players and singers by the same company. That is all I know about. Maybe the company thought they could fool people, after all, there are people like me buying there books in the first place! Mistake numeral one. To the Mallet Boy (heehee) I understand where you are coming from. It is often difficult not to slip into DT's music when it is on. For me (okay so I am a bit more into it than need be), it is a matter of being absorbed by the music more than listening. Now, if only Dream Theater did the piece I am analyzing for a history paper... Has any one else heard about the hats? they sound really nice but with all that is going on with Susan I would like some more input. Thanks! Have a great day all.

    > From: Steve Borzilleri <magellan@u.washington.edu> > Subject: God, Men, Stage-Shows > > > From: SaVeur <jjens@gmu.edu> > > Subject: Re: I didn't write it (NDTC) > > > > "God only exists in the minds of humans" -jjj > > "Men only exist in the mind of God."

Neitschze (I KNOW I spelled this wrong): "God is dead." God: "Neitschze is dead."

    And then there's:

Neitschze said, "That which makes us mad only makes us kick more butt" or something like that.

Bafu rules. God rules. Thus, Bafu is God. Q.E.D. <G> (No offense to the more devout Christians on the list. I'm a Christian, myself.)

Someone commented on hearing a phone ringing in IF. I haven't found it, but I'm pretty sure there's one in TTT during the first chorus. It's at 2:13. It always used to piss me off because I would be cranking it and when that part came on, I would instinctively shut off my player to get the phone. But of course there was never a second ring. I thought I was being prank-phone-called all the time until I finally took I&W into my car. And I don't have a car phone. It might just be some bizzare guitar thing that I know nothing about. Also, about #ytsejam on IRC. I just found out how to access it (thanks to Digital Man) but what's this I hear about jammers being kicked off? Are there set grounds for expulsion, like bad language, or is it completely random? Also, who does the kicking? I don't want to access the thing only to be booted off for saying that WDADU is complete shit :).

Jammers, Its about time someone spoke up about how ridiculous some of the digests are.(Divine, Christopher) I get them every day, and they are all full of useless junk- except for maybe one or two people will actually write in something worthwhile (you know, like DT related material on this digest which happens to be about Dream Theater.) I'm not talking about those nit picking bastards that continuously discuss the band's mistakes. Wake up you dumb idiots- although they are some of the best musicians in the progressive realm- they are human and occasionally screw up while performing. Who cares. Any respectable musician can overlook mistakes and see what an artist is trying to get across. I expect that out of any audience I perform in front of, and sure hope I get it considering the amount of mistakes I tend to make when I perform. Also, this crap with people discussing completely unrelated topics such as basketball- take it to some other page where you can sit around and discuss sports with people who give a shit. By the way, if you are going to be at the Birch Hill show, I would like to meet you. E-mail me personally if interested, because I don't read half the jams anyway since they are so damn long and full of worthless sludge. Not to mention that it would be the more polite thing to do to take personal business off the jam (unlike some other people.) I'll be with a bunch of guys all with long hair at the show, but that probably doesn't clear up much considering that just about everyone elde will be too. Oh well.

I've had a number of requests for the address of the IQ mailing list after my last post, so here it is:

    nmd@newton.npl.co.uk

Just send email to that address and ask to be added to the IQ mailing list. It's not an automated list so there's no special format for the subscribe message. For those who don't know, IQ is a neo-prog band somewhat in the vein of Marillion (but with their own sound).

I realize this thread is eons old and quite dead, but something just popped into my head. Didn't JP's wife give birth to twins on Nov 17th? Could the Nov 16 of ACOS be Rena's original delivery date? Maybe somebody already brought that up and I missed it. If so, just ignore me; I'll go away. :)

Lemme know if you're getting sick of my bitching.

My mind is made up about Nuggetman.

I went to IRC today and NugGeTMaN was there. I guess he wasn't paying attention, so I sent him a /msg that said, and I quote myself: "Ummmmmm...hi." 10 seconds later I was kicked, banned and he was ignoring me. Why won't you try to sort this out, Eric? I know I'm getting sick of being pissed off all the time.
