Whoa! Hello? Suddenly the ytsejam's moderated?

I read your pre-break message, Ken, but it didn't say anything about you
    implementing full fledged moderation!

Like I, Mike Bahr, and a lot of others believe, this list is great because it
HASN'T been moderated. The PEOPLE on the list have enough class (usually) to
know when enough is enough. Please Ken, reconsider your decision. I really
don't think people need to be 'babied' in order to keep this list the way it
    has been.

And besides, you complained about your big bill for last month. Doesn't your
moderating this list increase your time on-line, and thus increase your bill?

Have you really been bombarded with requests to do this, or what? It'd be nice
if you could at least communicate this decision of yours more effectively to
the 'jam so we know what's up.

This list is great and in my opinion, it ain't broke, so why fix it?

DISCLAIMER: These recordings fall into a grey area of law as an uncopyrighted
recording produced in such a manner that at least one facet of the production
occurs in a country (namely Italy) in which it is legal to do so. In the USA,
it is permissible to sell used import CDs only if they are labeled as such.
This is such a CD. Be aware that the various powers-that-be are collecting
    nothing for this.

Of course, that's all cover-my-butt lawyerspeak. I hope you all will
want to be a part of this. I make roughly minimum wage doing it, so you know
I'm not out to scam you. Ask anyone; I'm the real deal. Peace? :)

    1. What is Cygnus?

Hi all! Allow me to introduce myself, if you aren't familiar with me
yet. I'm Mike Bahr, humble maker of special-edition CDs. No CD plant will
make bootlegs, but they DO let me rent studio and equipment time and do it
    myself.

And now, I do have copies of Rush "Cygnus" CD remaining. There are
not many. Cygnus is a Rush recording from the mystical Hemispheres tour of
'78. It was recorded from a soundboard reel and the quality is comparable
to that of Electric Ladyland '74.

            Track listing:
            1. Anthem
            2. A Passage to Bangkok
            3. By-Tor and the Snow Dog ->
            4. Xanadu
            5. Something For Nothing (glitch at end, missing nearly nothing)
            6. The Trees
            7. Cygnus X-1 (dropout at end, missing last 16 secs before bells)
            8. Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres (dropout during Armageddon)
            9. Circumstances
           10. A Farewell to Kings

The dropouts aren't a big deal really, but in the interest of
honesty I am pointing them out. They were on the master reel. Also, like
Subconscious and Acoustic Dreams, this CD does not bear the name "Rush".
It says "Cygnus" on the label and lists cover credits. Don't be fooled; it's
Rush, just like the others are DT. It's for legal reasons. Before Italy
started making boots in 1991, all US vinyl boots were the same way.

    2. What is When Dream and Today Unite?

This work, finally completed, contains all the songs from When
Dream and Day Unite, only performed live with James LaBrie at the helm.
    Here's the tracklisting:

            1. A Fortune In Lies
            2. Status Seeker
            3. Ytsejam
            4. Another Hand/The Killing Hand
            5. Light Fuse and Get Away
            6. Mission Impossible
            7. Afterlife
            8. The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
            9. Only A Matter Of Time
           10. March of the Tyrant
           11. To Live Forever
           12. Moon Bubbles

I'm already accepting pre-orders for this, since the wait should be
over soon. The details on ordering are below. The CDs are already overdue and
    should begin shipping soon.

All the performances from this, as many as could be, are from original
performances not common on bootlegs. I did not use Live at the Marquee, Dance
of Eternity, Lost in the Sky, or others like them, except that Status Seeker
was only available in good quality on Dream Out Loud. I'll post a full source
list when the CD is released.

    3. What is Antiquities?

This one is just now taking shape. I'll have more
details on it here as it gets developed. The master tapes are already being
prepared to be made into a single master, and I've got an artist hard at work
on the cover, as well as contracting for CD plant pressing time.

So far, I'm cleaning these tracks up for the master:

. A Change of Seasons with Chris Cintron on vocals, demo
. The remaining (not already released by me) vocalist auditions
            - Metropolis with Steve Stone
            - The Killing Hand with John arch
            - A Fortune In Lies with John Arch
            - Don't Look Past me by Chris Cintron
            - Learning to Live with James LaBrie
. The outtakes from Live at the Marquee (Glass Moon, Ytsejam)
. The unknown instrumental from the Rocky Point Palladium 5/93
. The new song "Showdown" from Birch Hill in June
. A DT/Rush only cover band covering Pull Me Under and Limelight
. a few other neet things.

    4. What is the release schedule?

This section was too long and was making the file unpostable, so I've
cut it from the update. Let me assure you that I will be making information
on new releases available far and wide for those who need it.

    5. How can I order a copy of one of these CDs?

As stated before, I'm already shipping the CDs by and by. I ship
orders in the order I received your checks, so those of you who sent your
mail around when ordering began, those will be the first CDs out the
door. I usually get a couple dozen a day into the mail. This is current
for Cygnus. AD is finished shipping. WDATU will begin soon.

Feel free to e-mail me to reserve a copy for you, so that you will
have a copy saved for you before you send your order in the mail.

The pricing for all the CDs so far is as follows ($2 discount for
Cygnus if you're on the Jam.)

            Base cost: $25.00 US
            Additional postage USA free
                    " Canada / Mex $1.00 US
                    " Scandinavia $3.00 US
                    " Europe / UK $4.00 US
                    " Japan $5.00 US
                    " Aus/NZ/etc. $5.00 US

Postal rates were changed, but the postage cost MUST ONLY BE PAID
ONCE. If you live in Europe and you order 4 discs, the cost is $104.00 US
($25.00 x 4, plus $4.00 postage) and not $116.00 US. Thus, if you have
friends who want copies, I am more than willing to help you out. :) So no
matter how many CDs you want, only add the postage cost Once.

Things are pretty simple from here. Send mail including:

            * Your name, mailing address, and e-mail address
            * The check or money order for the amount
            * Which CDs you are ordering and How Many of Each.

International customers may use whatever means of payment is most convenient
for them, though I stress that sending cash is risky and should not be a
first option, but a backup plan. :) CHECKS: I don't really mind them, but in
the effort to be seen as a serious and responsible net merchant, I always
recommend the traceable-both-ways Money Order as a preferred form of payment.
So checks are OK; Money orders are Better.

Please make out checks and money orders to me, Michael Bahr.
            The address is:

My home telephone number, available as a courtesy to you, is
1-602-777-0501. I am usually not home on weekends (band practice) so try
during the week, between 6pm and 11pm pacific time, for best results.

Information: The orders for Kaoru and Stephane are being bought as a group
order for others in their home country, not a huge order to keep for later.
I generally don't sell to dealers because it deprives Jammers of these CDs.

boys and girls and otherwises, merry christmas.

as i sit here listening to "scheherazade" (the rimski-korsakov, not the
renaissance), i feel the urge to ask a few things and mention my christmas
    wish list.

question #1- what on earth ever happened to echolyn??? i know the bassist
left, but what about the rest of them? i haven't heard anything from the
wiblet recently, and i was slightly concerned.

question #2- anyone bringing those tennis balls to wail at dt when they come
on stage, as mentioned in a few jams a while ago??

    my christmas wish/new year's list for 1996:

-to smoke a lot of weed with chris degarmo and jam with him
-to shroom with kevin moore and see who is on his page this week
-to find the 7 string guitar i have only wanted for 5 years now
-to keep my perfect pitch intact, even if the rest of my hearing slowly goes
    -that echolyn resurfaces sometime soon
-that pink floyd reunites (waters, gilmour, wright, mason) and write a kick
ass album that makes me glad i am a musician
-that my music directing debut ("evita") goes well
    -the yes reunion works
-that everyone can find peace of mind in their own ways

    see ya'll in 4 days!!!!
    david, the magical kobayashi

say hi to the guy in the screaming headless torsos shirt in ct!

Soup posed the question of where this lyrical passage comes from:
    > "Tell me Jesus, are you angry?
    > One more sheep has just gone astray
    > A hardening of hearts turning to stone
    > Wandering off so far from home"

I'm surprised nobody replied yet! The song is "Who Cares?" by
Extreme. I'm not a bible thumper or anything, just a big fan
of Extreme, and I just recently learned how to play this song, as
well as "God Isn't Dead?" on piano.
    .....
If someone mentioned this a while ago, I apoligize for rehasing, but
I don't remember anything about it. That said, has anyone ever noticed a
buzzing kind of sound at 7:37 of A Change Of Seasons? It's the part
where James sings "The clock on the wall/ticking away", right at the
"ticking" part. And it doesn't sound like a clock to me :) It just
sounds like something that doesn't belong there.

    Happy Holidays,

    Hi all,

First off, I just discovered where part of the Wake Up intro came from - if
this has already been mentioned, forgive me. A guy at work was playing the
Doors "In Concert" and on one of the CDs was a poem called "Wake Up" in which
Jim Morrison yelled "Wake Up" which sounded just like the DT intro - I dunno
where the source came from for the beginning of the intro (where the guy is
mumbling) but I thought I'd share that tidbit.

Also, to all you that lost trades to Jeremy Haines, while on the Iron Maiden
newsgroup, what name appeared on one of the posts? Jeremy Haines. Now if I
recall correctly, the guy lives in CT right? Well this guy's server is from
New Haven CT so I'm guessing this may very well be the same guy (can't promise
it though). Anyway, his e-mail address is haines-jeremy@cs.yale.edu I
dunno if this is a real address or not, but I thought I'd let everyone know.

Is there anyone who could give my friend and I a ride to the Ytsecon II/Malibu show from Waldwick, NJ? I believe it's about 1 1/2 hours from Long Island, but I'm not sure. I can get more concrete details for anyone who thinks they may be able to drive us. We have our tickets, but we lost our ride. Thanks

    Hello,

I just recently subscribed to the Ytsejam. Tried several times and finally got on. So far it seems really cool. I have a softcopy of all I've received so far (since Dec 13, 1995) and already have a whole binder full! I think it's all the religious stuff.

Anyhow, the main reason I wrote is cause I have a question. I was wondering what's going on with the fan club? I sent my money in and never received anything. Now I noticed someone else mentioned that but didn't notice a reply. If anyone knows anything, please let me know.

Another note to MARCEL BERKHOUT (v932407@si.hhs.nl) about the bootlegs being made up: there is a cd bootleg out there with Change of Seasons called "Dance of Eternity". It was from a show in New York.

To SOUP (LESNIEBD@udmercy.edu): The answer is Extreme's "Who Cares". Great song, great cd!

Well that will be all. I'll probably observe more than speak except perhaps if really necessary. But any fans here in Michigan please e-mail me personally at YtsejamDT@aol.com. I honestly don't know ANY DT fans around here. Bye.

    Seize the day! Irene

Hello DT Fans.. 1st post to Ytsejam notice :) I'm so glad I have found this list, I need a new word to describe how great it feels to talk with DT fans from all over the world. Since I am new to the list, I'll go ahead and post my personal DT info. Without a doubt, I consider I&W to be their best album, and I would probably choose either ACOS or Surrounded as their best song. I am so sad that K.Moore is out of the DT picture, I highly dig his stuff. His style is sensitive yet powerful. Anyhow... I would appreciate very much if any of you could help me out and provide some suggestions to the following questions. - Where can I obtain back digests of Ytsejam ? - Could you please recommend two DT bootlegs (CD) ? My main interest is sound quality. Well, Happy New Year to all of you and don't forget to play DT at midnight <g>. Fernando

    Thats really too bad....

I don't think DT had anything to do with that..... I couldn't see them not caring about their fans like that....

Anyway....To make not show up to the YtseCon II would be a big mistake.... 1) Trey put a lot of hard work into this to make it happen...and it would be really nice to still meet the guys we talk to all the time...So support Trey in attending the Con!! 2) If we bring enough people to the Con, we would have something to show DT managment the next time we plan something like this....For ex. ("The last time we planned a Con, we brought in 100+ people...we are devoted fans!!")

On another note....I got Shadow Gallery, what an amazing disk!!!! These guys know where its at!

    See ya at the con!!!!!!

P.S. We are still looking for a guitarist and keyboardist to join the Dream Theater tribute band....If you play well, have equipment, and live on Long Island....send me mail at "Mojoman@pointblank.com"

    > Just a crazy thought... > > What do you think would happen if you played a DT song backwards? Would > everything be in 4/4 and A major? Would we derive the answer to the religion

This reminds me of something someone posted on the net. He took Anglagard's "Jordrok" and reversed it. While it sounded like a different song in parts, parts sounded the same (palindromes maybe?), and whatever may have changed it STILL sounded like Anglagard.

I wonder if a DT instrumental, backward, would still sound like DT.

Anyone with a big computer wanna test with, say, the Ytse Jam (and put the Maj Esty on a web site)?

    > topic? Would we know JP's real name (I happen to think that 'Petrucci' is a > little to coincidental...)? Would 6:00 on a Christmas morning suddenly be

Coincidental? How? I don't know any chemical refs in DT (Petrucci is writer of a college chemistry text).

    > 12:00 on Easter? Would it sound like Rush? Or would it sound like shit? I

No, Easter's only on bootlegs of the Ronnie Scotts gig (I WANT IT...um, sorry...i'd rather have warm wet circles anyway).
