I got my InstruMental II disc from Tim Lodge last week, and it's really
cool. It's quite a bit better than the first one I think. If you're a
big fan, I think you should pick it up, if only for YYZ and ACOS
(although there's lots of other good stuff on there!)

I believe it has been tabbed by a jammer already. Check the FTP site if it's still around. Come to think of it, I forgot where our FTP site is. Anyway, if no one can find it for you, I can tab i--if I get time. It's not that hard, it starts with a B5 chord. :)

I would like to obtain one of these Ytsejam T shirts very much. If you have a spare or know how to get one please mail me. Please!
I just want one to show this guy who was gloating to me about getting Awake before me and he also had an Awake T Shirt. He was visably annoyed when I showed him my copy of Subcon (he works in a record store and will probably be looking for it. Ha ha ha) and I really want to put the icing on the cake by wearing one into the store he works in.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

The one thing that saves it from being nearly pointless in its violence is the flashbacks involving Eric and Shelly - it gives you a much greater insight into the emotional pain that drives Eric. I nearly cried when he said to Gabriel something to the effect of "Go away, cat, you make me smile too much"
Definitely not for the squeamish, though - the movie OR the book.

Somebody asked what kind of guitar Carlos Santana played. I could be mistaken, but I believe that it is a Paul Reed Smith. I'm sure Carlos plays a number of different guitars, but this is the one I see him with the most. God bless.

Cool! I loved that show... lots of great prog stuff, and virtually the only place to hear anything besides PMU or AD on the radio Unfortunately, they axed StoneTrek about a year ago or so, and they won't play DT now---guess it doesn't _fit_ into their new format :(
Guess I do have to be greatful to KLOS though, that's where I first heard and fell in love with DT.
BTW, StoneTrek was a syndicated show out of the Bay Area, I believe. Any Jammers up north (or anywhere in the US) still get this show? Just curious.

continuing about A Kick Into A Dream, does it seem faster than the studio albums to anyone else? The fast solo in erotomani sounds like its at about 172 bpm compared to 160 on the album. It's still pretty cool. huh he huh.
Dann Huff plays on a lot of pop christian albums, whoever asked, like Michael W. Smith and Wes King...
Anyone read Guitar World this month? In the Minneapolis article, since the Q and W keys are so close together, there is a typo that says Bob Mould had a previous interview with GQ. That is good stuff.

Has any seen the TAB part for LSoaD? Pure Genius. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, JP is only playing 8th notes and has a delay repeating at a dotted eighth note. i.e. a b a c b d c etc. For an explanation in TAB e-mail me and I will send you the part. This has also been done before. Check out "Black Star" off of the first Yngwie Malmsteen album. For those with a digital delay if you want to try to figure out LSoaD the setting is 416 milliseconds, and if you are setting it on a knob, set the feedback all the way up, and put your metronome at 144 bpm and hold it up to your pickups. Turn the delay time knob untill you only hear clicks in time with the metronome. The time for LSoaD is 108 bpm. Play accending 8th notes on a C major scale and you should hear constant 16th notes. Here is a part to start you on. LSoaD 1:37(all 8th notes) E-|----------------|----------------| B-|----------------|----------------| G-|------6-7---6---|------6-7---6---| D-|----9-----9---7-|----7-----7---7-| A-|--9-------------|--5-------------| E-|7---------------|3---------------| clean sound(duh)

I need help. I'm looking for DT posters, and of course, cannot find any. SO, if anyone out there has any they don't want (probably not) or knows of a place where they sell them, please let me know. Or, if anyone has seen one, maybe you could pick it up for me, and I'll pay for it and shipping and all that. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I need more posters for my apartment. And the one I got at the ytsecon isn't enough. Hey, maybe John Petrucci has some extra one's lying around his house. Since he might be reading this. . . (wishfull thinking, gotta love it :-) )
Oh yeah, I sent a message to the Jam a couple days ago, and it hasn't shown up yet, so here it is again. If the old message does show up, Sorry, then this will be a reminder:

I too had the honor of meeting JennieBear! Hiya Kath! ;) I also met GregC, aka Jeff Chew, "so that's what it's like being op!". I did have a comment about #ytsejam. I think it's great that someone has put a bot there to keep the channel open. I do not however think that it is fair to have the above mentioned bot de-op everyone! I'd gotten on before that bot (gEAr I think it's called now) did and next thing I know I got de-opd!! Since I've never seen the person who controls the bot on #ytsejam, I feel it's a bit selfish of you to have the bot act this way. We should all be allowed to use the channel...not just a bot.

Dear Jammers,
Hey, what's up all? I'm still here jammin with you guys! How was your 4th of July? NE ways, I'd like to attempt to start up a new thread. The question is. . .
Who is your favorite member of Dream Theater and why? I'm not too sure if you guys did this one already, I've only been here since digest 598.
My favorite member of Dream Theater is John Petrucci, because he has been a great influence on me. He is the reason why I continue to play guitar, along with other guitar greats. I love his songwriting, and I love his work! He is the ultimate musician. Well, what do you guys think?

Well, if its not too late to vote, I would love to have them include: Damage Inc. and Funeral for a Friend/Love lies Bleeding
And, if their "EP" is going to peg in at 60+ minutes, does this mean that the next "real" album will be right at the max ??? Cool !!!!

This may seem like a strange question since I have only seen a few posts concerning it but.....................
When DT was in Portland Ore in November ' 94 the only negatives I heard were that the mix was WAY TOO LOUD and that the drums overpowered all the others. Don't get me wrong cause it was great being able to hear Portnoy loud and clear but JM's bass was only evident here and there, Derek was mixed way too low...couldn't hear him most of the time. JP was sometimes lost in the mix and KJ was usually OK.
As an aside, I took my 10 year old son-drummer-MP worshipper to see them (he met Mike, played on his set and much more) Anyway, he was too short to see them play so the crew let us up on the light and sound platform. Their sound tech was constantly adjusting the mix, I mean constantly. It was obvious to me that the mix was way off but I sure as hell wasn't going to say anything to him. At other concerts the sound techs usually do very little after the levels have been set, at least that's what I observed.
They were in a smaller type venue... 1,000 people, balcony, etc. so maybe that made a difference but I kinda doubt it.
Anyone else feel the same?? Maybe I am nitpicking but as a diehard loyal DT fan I really want them to be as good as possible live. The people I talked to there felt the same... great show but too loud.... uneven mix.

What??!!
Hold Your Fire is likely the least prog in my opinion... i dont know which Rush albums you have but i have all but two (and that's a lot of Rush!) and Hold Your Fire is the least related to DT or Prog (save maybe Roll the Bones and Counterparts) ... look for Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings and then go and buy both of 'em... it would be hard to be let down if you dont mind something that sounds like a lighter DT... 2112 is also fairly prog but not as much ...an excelent concept album though.... the only thing that might be difficult with Rush is Geddy Lee's voice... i love it but others have expressed a distaste for it... ******************************************************************************* Anthony Kozar "The Divine Spirit found a sublime outlet in Univ. of Toledo that wonder of analysis, that portent of the 1042 Acad.
