Excerpts from internet.listserv.ytsejam: 29-Apr-95 Awake Connections...
    by Steve Borzilleri@elwha.e
    > The opening riff seems to be the "Erotomania" riff, and as far as I can
    > tell is not taken from any other song. At 1:14, they begin a progression

The keyboards in the opening come from 6:00 (listen to the first
    verse--it starts at about 1:05).

I'm not positive about this, but at 1:30 in Erotomania, Kev begins
playing the Space Dye Vest riff. The timing isn't the same and it's not
on piano, but I believe the notes are the same.

My favorite track off of WDADU is Only a Matter of Time. I was just
wondering which boot has the best live version of this song? Anyone know?

    Jammers,

I have read Ayn Rand's "Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" and in "Fountainhead" there's a line that states "...there is no time for pain and I have no energy for anger...." Sound familiar?

I don't think that "Learning to Live" has a whole lot to do with Randian thinking and Objectivism, so this could just possibly be a coincidence. Actually, I don't think there are any tunes that have to do with individualism by Dream Theater. 'Course I would like a few opinions on this since I don't have WDADU and have never heard it (nor do I plan to get it - DT without LaBrie is not DT) and my particular takes on songs may not be the same as other's.

Just thought y'all might like to know.

Yeah...ive heard this, the song is called "Come Together". Its a good cover but the radio station played it sooooo much (just like they do with every other song) that i got really sick of it.

I've had subconscious for about 4 days now and it's great! A couple of questions that actually haven't been answered (like the who on WDOA thing). Who sings on the Beatles covers and where is Don't Look Past Me from?

Whatever the heck James says at the end of To Live Forever, it's wrong.

To Mr. Bunker - I think personally that LFAGA and TOWHTSTS are the two DT songs that don't have cool intros. Well, that's my opinion.

The lyrics to ACOS can be found in the file dtlyrics.txt at ftp.netcom.com. I suppose I could copy and paste them into this post, though. I have the home video, I was ROTFL <rolling on the floor laughing> through most of it, with the exception of the last story he told about Joe Cole. Major fist in the belly, that one. I also have one of his spoken word CDs and one of his poetry books. No one makes the truth as funny, frightening, or as painful as Henry Rollins. The man rules. I was surprised to find out James is a fan of his...

    >Wow! Someone besides me owns "WATER!" I LOVE that album!<

    Me too, I've ALWAYS been into Saigon Kick. They're one of the few "commercial" bands that I never stopped listening to. You want to talk about a thematic CD, "Water" is almost entirely about war! As if one wouldn't have guessed from the original title, "Fields Of Rape" - the tightassed execs didn't like that one. :}

Those of you who I've made fanatical by announcing that release, don't worry yet! I'm going to do 1000 copies each of Rush/Cygnus and Dream Theater/When Dream and James Unite because demand is so high. I'm working through Italy and getting the licensed gov't stamps on 'em. I only will offer them on the Jam. (well, I might offer a FEW copies of Cygnus on alt.music.rush, but I _can't_ offer it on TNMS) and I will start taking reserves for it later this week. I'm finishing out my ledgers for Subconscious... I want to make sure EVERYONE gets their copy fast and in good condition. :) The official "order now" announcement for Cygnus will likely happen on Memorial Day Weekend, as I want to try and order a bit earlier this time, so as to minimize the wait.

LFAGA is my favorite song on WDADU. This song would be the single biggest reason for getting WDAJU if it ever comes about. Unfortuantly, I think I read on this list that there are not boots of James sining this song.

BTW ... I'm glad to see that there are other Dio fans (or former Dio fans). I saw Dio 2 or three times when he was on his own. On of those time Queensrych OPENED for Dio. That was pretty excellent. I Used to LOVE RJD and not just when he was in Dio. He was great with Rainbow and Sabbath too. In fact, I think that when he was with Sabbath they were at their best. The reason that I called him a Wanker is that his "Scarry Evil Image" is a bit much for me. It was great for me when I was younger but my tastes have changed and I'm not into running around being scarry and evil any more. I don't have anything against his image, I just find it amusing.

Could somebody please e-mail me the lyrics to the Kevin Moore Demos? If they're on someone's home page, forget it; I am absolutely clueless when it comes to WWW. I'm lucky to have figured out how to e-mail. Thanks.

On the subject of WDADU: ------------------------ Musically, my favorite is probably AFIL, and lyrically, OAMAT. (are those legit acronymns?)

This is not to say the other songs aren't cool, but, I love those two in particular. Why? AFIL rocks. OAMAT - I'm a musician trying to make it. Need I say more?

On The Subject of Subjects: -------------------------- There's been people (though not too many recently) saying that there's not enough DT content on a DT discussion "group." Consider the last time you had a conversation with another person. The other night, I went out with a co-worker and his girlfriend. We started talking about WORK and where he might be heading, but, the conversation quickly turned to discussions about music, and Letterman, and the Oklahoma City bombings, etc.

Point is this: One subject, in a normal conversation, leads to another. If I started seeing this heavilly "policed," and started getting warnings from the people/person who run(s) it, I'd drop it immediately.

If you really have nothing better to do than to sit around and whine about people discussing Kansas, Saigon Kick, Kix, Tesla, Dio, Guitars, Extreme, King Crimson, Echolyn, recording stuff (guilty!), or anything else that might come up, do me a favor:

    JUST UNSUBSCRIBE.

No one needs an explanation as to why you're leaving. Don't waste the space bitching about us getting sidetracked. (insert comment about biting my posterior here) --------------------------------------------

AND, since I'm on my soapbox, I'd just like to tell you all that Extreme's "Waiting For The Punchline" rocks. Very raw. Excellent recording. Love it to death. The songs are mostly very very good. Nuno's playing is top-notch (the man is amazing, let's face it), and the band has never sounded tighter.

Okay - now that I've vented, I'd like to correct myself, I think. Apparently, Saigon Kick has not broken up. I heard they had. For sure, they have been dropped by their label...

Ah, another band they just couldn't stick in a flannel wrapped box and mass market to the idiots...King's X & The Galactic Cowboys had the same problem. <sigh> I'm gonna stop myself before I start talking about how people always bitch about there not being any "unique and original" music around, but, when they hear something unique & original, they just don't understand it...oops...<shrug>

In fact, someone once told me they saw the GC/DT tour, and thought the GC's sucked. In response, I said, "Consider the viewpoint of a GC fan who's never heard DT's music. There's a lot going on. If you don't know what they're doing, and you're not musically inclined, you're probably not going to get it right off the bat. Besides, what would you say to that CG Fan who'd never heard DT, and said to you, 'These guys suck!' Probably something along the lines of, "Oh, give it a chance - it grows on you." Think about it. Knee-Jerk responses to bands you're hearing for the first time aren't always necessarilly the ones you eventually form. (Me? STP. The more and more I hear what they're doing, the more and more I like it. They come up with some really cool melodies and chord changes - Interstate Love Song is one of my favorites these days, and the one I always find myself putzing around with on my guitar...)

Okay, enough already. Sorry to babble. -Hairball
