    Whoa there George!
It was just a simple observation. FYI, I own both Awake and I&W on both CD
and cassette. I own three CD players (4 if you count my computer's CD-ROM),
but don't have one in my car (unless I hook up my portable to the cassette
deck). Yes, I agree that MOST cassettes sound like crap, wear out, etc. etc.
However, since I listen to DT CONSTANTLY, it is more convenient to leave the
cassettes in the car, which is where they've been for the last 10 months.
Besides, if you pump a frequency response of 50-18kHz through the stock 6.3
watt amp to two 6-1/2" poly woofers and two 4's, anything would sound crappy.
    (Hairball, let's talk)

I wasn't complaining, either. Just stating a fact for those out there who
own only the cassette, and could not find Scarred on the liner.

    Back to work now,

Hold on, that wasn't me. The one you should thank is Jam for being so
    devious.

Look, I just post the stories to the list. Ytse and Jam are the ones who
write the stuff. They tell me everything through psychic sign language.
    Honest.

    I usually spell Dream Theater without an A, L, I, C, E, I, N, C, H, A, I,
N, and S, but I guess whatever works for you is okay.

I didn't mind when people spelled it "Dream Theatre" either...

I agree with the recipes comment, those things had nothing to do with
Dream Theater. NIN and Blind Melon aren't Dream Theater, but we did have a
few good discussions about the relations between NIN and DT's music and
lyrical themes. As for Ytse and Jam, I kind of like them. In fact, I think
those stories are hilarious! They're all about this mailing list, and I
can't believe you'd call the author a "fucking idiot" because each story
relates rather heavily not only to Dream Theater but to the people on this
    list.

Yeah, in fact, the last... Wait a minute...

I wrote that last story... That means... According to Logic... That...

I'M the author of Ytse and Jam! But then that can only mean... By Logic
    again... That...

    I'M THE FUCKING IDIOT!!

Wow. You learn something new every day.

Yeah, good thinking, Daveman. Let's post more about Alice in Chains and
less about non-DT related bands like, say, Alice In Chains.

I guess it is, anyway. Heh. I dunno. Lately, the Jams have been
driving through phases and channels so fast I can't keep up!

Everyone who hasn't yet...drop what you're doing, go to the
store, and buy Savatage's "Dead Winter Dead". I can't believe how awesome
this album is. This band has, on the strength of one album, moved up into
that area of my favourites reserved for Fates Warning, Echolyn, and the
Galactic Cowboys, one tier below the Rush/DT penthouse. Throw in the CD,
and before you enjoy it all (and it's pretty much all good), first listen
to the track "Christmas in Sarajevo 12/24". It's the perfect bridge into
the new band... a song we are already somewhat familiar with, played in a
    stunning and intense fashion.

I finally invested in a color laserjet printer and I'm
experimenting with glossy paper to see if I can produce an acceptable CD
cover and liner. If so, Antiquities will be printed by me (and WILL have
proper credits to Dream Theater and so forth) but WDATU won't be affected
since I've already contracted for the cover to be printed.

Actually, the opening of Erotomania goes more like this:

                da
                   da

            da

          da
        da
      da da
    da

            But I guess nobody's counting. :)

Currently on the truck "variety tape": Silverchair "Pure
Massacre", White Zombie "Devil Man", Lisa Loeb "Do You Sleep", and the
    usual assortment of Rush/DT/FW/GC/Ryche.

to anyone in the southern tier area of ny, there will be a huge record
convention in binghamton, ny this weekend (11/12 @ramada inn on front st.).

wondering if anyone has an idea of the likelihood of getting the dance of
eternity and a possible recommendation for any cd's or videos such as tori
amos, nin, prince, pink floyd, dt, renaissance, and anything else. also,
anyine know of any other excellent dt boots (particularly from this year)?

my shopping list: TDoe, some renaissance cd, "turn of the cards" record, lie
single, some new queensryche cd, old echolyn, and a thought industry boot if
    possible.

can someone (i think it was megan, whoever she is) please forward to me
personally the directions to el-n-gee's again? thanks.

    merry christmas, dave

ps- graham: you say you saw some breakfast show with ozzy and the family. how
were you able to understand him?? i saw him on mtv and he just is impossible
to comprehend. also saw this HYSTERICAL ozzy clip of him superimposed in
"forrest gump" where he tells forrest while sitting at the bus stop to "get
the fuck out of here", and you see forrest running away and ozzy laughing. it
was amazing! anyone else catch it?

Sorry. I have to learn to read the WHOLE Jam then reply to
everything at once. That's one of my bad habits. Seeya around.

    >make that SEVEN posts. didn't mean to diminish your power.

            Hey, but who's counting? :-)

BTW, Bafu Vai is the winner for my "Visual Music" as he put it.
It's the beginning of Erotomania. Though music is almost ALWAYS visual for
me. If I close my eyes when listening to something, I can kinda see colors
in my mind and I associate those colors with that song from then on. After
a while I realized that the colors I was seeing were just the color of the
album cover of whatever song I was listening to. BUT, on the really good
songs I DO see different colors. As in DT. DT music (as Wayne and Garth so
elegantly out it) looks like a plate of hurl. Not in a bad way, though.
About my TSM story. Oops. I read it in Jam 1110? and the thing is
choppier than a Ginsu knife. Try combining some of the sentences and then
read it again. Sorry if it made you dizzy! :-) Seeya around.

Actually, if you look, the lines are listed in the lyric sheet. The borrowed
lines, in order, are taken from: Pornograffitti, It('s a Monster), Money (In
God We Trust), Flesh and Blood, He-Man Woman Hater, and Decadence Dance.

Some of the lines are *really* hard to hear, though.

        LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Drum Day L.A. -- a celebration
organized as part of International Drum Month -- will take place at the
world-famous House of Blues on Saturday, November 18th, 1995 from 1:30 to

the nation's most talented amateur drummer over the last two months. The
Drum-Off competition will culminate with performances by the 5 national
finalists during Drum Day L.A. and will be judged by a panel of celebrity
judges that has previously included Matt Sorum (Guns 'N Roses), Terry
Bozzio (Jeff Beck), Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth), Myron Grombacher
(Pat Benatar) and Randy Castillo (Ozzy Osbourne). The Grand Prize winner
will receive an electronic drum set worth over $8,000.
Admission to Drum Day L.A. is $12.00, with tickets available through
the House Of Blues Box Office (213-650-0476) or at Guitar Center locations
in Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Lawndale, Covina, Fountain Valley and San
Bernardino. Following the event, attendees can bring their ticket stub to
any Guitar Center location and receive 2 free pairs of Drum-Off drumsticks
    -- an $18 value!
Drum Day is sponsored by the International House of Blues Foundation,

support from the international drumming community, including Drum
Workshop, Kat, Latin Percussion, Mapex, Modern Drummer Magazine, Paiste,
Pearl, Premier, Remo, Sabian, Sonor, Tama, Toca, Vic Firth, Yamaha and
Zildjian. Profits will be used to benefit the International House of
Blues Foundation's efforts to bring live music performances to
disadvantaged school children. This event is a must for anyone interested
in drumming and drummers -- when this many pro and amateur drummers get
together under one roof, ANYTHING can happen. Come check out the
industry's best drummers and cheer on tomorrow's drum pros at DRUM DAY

    Hi guys!

I just wanna tell JP to stop using seven strings guitar from now on (no real warning). I bought the complete guitar edition of Awake and I just can't even try to play Caught in a web and The mirror because I can't afford myself to buy
another guitar. Same thing on the intro of ACOS with your acoustic. Also I'd
like to know who taught you how to play the harmonics on the sixth fret; he mustbe insane. Altough I didn't stop complaining until now, your music remains the best ever!

    - Bach (A guy who tought he was great on guitar before he listened to I&W)
By the way, Ozzy's new album 'Ozzmosis' is awesome!

From what I've heard, YYZ(ed) was the call letters from a radio
becon from, I believe, the Toronto airport that they were flying into at
the time. One of the guys heard it and said, "Cool!" and wrote YYZ(ed).
Of course that's what I heard.

I don't think I've heard of Helmet. I guess I'm not as cool as you.

I'm a DT/Rush/Yes fan and though I do agree that Rap is a regressive
basically negative and worthless genre of music, I strongly disagree that
"Jazz sucks". I bet if you talked to J. Petrucci or M. Portnoy or the other
two DT band members for that matter you probably would find that they have a
deep respect and admiration of Jazz musicians. I've heard Jazz drummers and
guitarists that could play the pants off of our DT guys. Technically Jazz
muscians know their instuments better that any other type of musician barr
    maybe classical musicians.

Sounds to me that you are exalting yourself in your above paragraph. You
also forgot one other category of Y-jammer, this category writes posts with
the intent to draw attention (negative attention) and draw flames. Why else
would you write those tunnel visioned statments and then say "Flame away!"

    Look in the mirror.

I can do a dub, I use Maxell hi-bias UI90s and I would be interested in live
Awake recording except for "a Kick into a Dream" already have that one.

OK. You're an ignorant, conceited bastard. We don't give a shit what you think sucks and what you think is cool. How dare you tell any of us that you have better musical taste than us? It's closed-minded fools like you that make this world harder to live in than it already is. Personally, I disagree whole-heartedly with your musical tastes (except DT, etc., of course), but do I think you have worse taste in music than me? No. Do I think you're a fucking moron who likes to hear himself talk and doesn't have a clue regarding how to peacefully co-exist with society? Guess. And don't ever refer to "us... fans," when you couldn't possibly hope to represent but a few of us with ridiculous rants like that.

By the way, the number is 1(800)ABCDEFG.
