Sorry about the lack of DT content, but I am so psyched to see something
about all the different bands I like.

I am a major Savatage fan, but around here I have a hard time finding their
albums without special ordering them. I just wanted to know if Dead Winter
Dead is a new album or an old one so I can go about finding a copy to
    listen to/buy.

I have Handful of Rain which is ok...not their best, but by far not their
worst...Sirens, and a couple of videos on a video mix, and...Streets a Rock
Opera...need more Savatage (and Rush and Ryche and Queen and DT --ooo DT
    content)

I'm not a huge Rush fan, but the news I heard I have to tell you guys.
Anyway, someone from the band Rush, I think the lead singer (I know the
group so little that I don't even know the members of the group) is doing a
side project right now. They did not break up. This is just a side
project. The Rush member is making an album with members of the group
Primus. I don't see how they are related. It should be interesting to
hear this record. Anyway, I also heard on the same report that Rush will
come out with their next studio album sometime during the spring.

"Sam?" I must've missed that season. Here's a thought: DT doing
a cover of the "Different Strokes" theme. "Different strokes to
    moooo' the waaaaaaaahhh, yeeaahhh!"

Okay, seriously, I don't know why so many people don't like
PMU. Aside from being DT's "signature song" (at least someone
got that one), it's my favorite DT song, by far. Every time I
hear those opening notes, I feel liquid shadows invade my mind
and shimmering spiders scuttle down my spine. I've heard the song
a million times and it still doesn't wear on me----and it won't
wear on me a after a million times more, kind of like SoR by Rush.

What's going on with the Ytsejam printout team?

Okay, so if you missed it the first time, my idea is for any jammers that
are going to any of the shows in December to cooperate together and print
out a whole bunch of digests for Mike Portnoy. Someone could volunteer
to do jams 1100-1110, another person could print out 1111-1120, etc.
Have people gone off and already pulled together a concerted effort or
are a bunch of us just printing out jams like crazy? Is anyone printing
out ALL the jams, intent on lugging 300 pages of digests to a concert?

If you have already printed out a bunch of jams for this purpose, let me
know which numbers you have printed out. If you are willing to print out
jams, let me know and I can assign you some so Mike won't end up with
    multiple copies of digests.

There is absolutely no need to somehow get these printouts into my hands.
If you are going to a show, (or two, or all three), there shouldn't be
any reason why you can't give your printouts to him yourself. My efforts
at coordinating this are only to help prevent repetition.

i was fuzting around with my keyboard, and decided to spark up some sounds
that were sounding lame. i got:

    a) a distorted organ sound that exploded in my head when i played the intro
to "perfect strangers", and sounded nicely to "erotomania" and the
    erotomania-esque part in acos.

    b) a distorted guitar sound that cried "6:00 on a christmas morning."

hmm...that may just inspire me to try and transcribe more dt keys stuff.

speaking of nin, anyone see the new keyboard magazine with trent reznor as
one of the 12 most important keyboardists? i thought that was interesting and
i think he deserves it. to be up there with someone like keith emerson is a
quite high honor. it would have been excellent to see kevin there too, but

WOAH, Ben! Anybody remember that Simpsons episode from a while back
were they go to Duff-Land (beer amusement park) and Lisa falls into the beer
river (like D-Land's "It's A Small World") and she steps out of it completely

    Hell-o fellow jammers!

I got my copy of Acoustic Dreams in today (11-7). No lenghty review, just
that the sound quality is incredible. For those out there still waiting, mine
    is # 274.

A lot of people having been complaining about mtv for good reason. They
totally suck. They hardly play any videos whatsoever, and when they do it's
usually rap or top 40. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done about
it. A few years ago, they tried to go to a rock only format, but that didn't
work out. If you really want an alternative, your best bet would be to get a
satellite so you can watch Canada's Muchmusic. They remind me a lot of what
mtv was back in the early 80's. Every mon-thurs they have the Power 30 which
is a great show. They also have daily shows called Spotlight where they play
:30 of interviews & videos by a single artist. Since I got my DSS about a
year ago, I only watch mtv for their Unplugged or when there's a special on
    that looks good.

If anybody out there who did not get a copy of AD, I would be happy to make a
dub for you. Please email me personally and we can make arrangements.

I can't believe what I just read in ytsejam1108. Mike Bahr, a person whose
posts I've always looked forward to reading, is a bigot! I happen to have a
half-sister (we have the same father) who is a Sioux Indian, and I can't
begin to express my disappointment at that stereotypical "story" he wrote. I
have met many American Indians and I have yet to find one that talks in the
broken english that the one in the story did. In fact, most of them speak
better english than many "whites" that I know. What's next, humorous stories
    about the holocaust?

To give you an example of how Indians are STILL treated in America, my
Sister's Mom's Brother (my Sister's Uncle) was playing Basketball when he was
stricken with a heart attack. When they called 911, when they found out the
guy was an Indian, 911 refused to send an ambulance. A full 45 minutes after
the call to 911, they finally got him to a hospital where he died a short
time later. Would he have lived if he got medical attention immediately? I
don't know. But I do know one thing, if he would have been white, they would
    have dispatched help immediately.

I don't think Mike is a bad guy, I think that if he wants to tell these kinds
of stories to his friends, that's one thing. But don't post it to a mailing
list of over 1,000 subscribers with 1,000 different personalities and ethnic
    backgrounds all over the world.

It's a shame about Rabin's murder. I thought he was a great man for trying to
make peace with his arab neighbors. It's good to know that peace talks are
    going to continue.

    Yes - it's because it's knackered.

I have similar problems. My player has trouble reading the first few sectors of the disc
(or whatever they are called). Sometimes it won't recognise that there is a disc in the
machine, and other times the first song or two comes out all crackly.

    Pain in the arse.

    Jammers,
If you have not gotten Dead Winter Dead because of low cash flow, that is
one thing. However, if you are jsut plain lazy, get off of your tuchus and
get it. It is an incredible rock opera. Perhaps one of the best out
there. I think that there is more to it MUSICALLY than Mind Crime. Note
that I emphasized the MUSIC part, and not the lyrics/story part. The
songs just get better and better as they go along. The last two songs both
have six-part vocal harmony (three different lyrics overdubbed in thirds
with themselves). The musical mood of each song fits perfectly with the
lyrics, as does the way that the lyrics are sung. It is not a matter of
getting past some of the vocals (whoever you are, idiot), rather, a matter
of actually reading thge liner notes and the poem (singular) that is
divided up between the different songs. When I read the notes, I actually
cried for the first time since I dont know when (excluding when I heard
the sorrowful news about Yitchak Rabin, bless his soul). Anyhow, This is
a definate MUST have for any progressive fan and anyone with a prog radio
show (hint hint damon fibraio). I give it two thumbs up and an aural orgasm.
    Later mon,
    Howard

    Folks,
As I'm in the process of doing a trade for my copy of Mike Bahr's Rush
Video Montage, I was hoping to be able to provide a list of it's contents
(and times) but I cant seem to find it and Mike himself doesnt have it.
Can any Ytsejammers out there who have this post the relavent list and
times? Mike and I will be grateful....:)

Hey Richie -- What Toad the Wet Sprocket Tune was it that you
took time from your AD listening to listen to? (damn, that's a shitty
    sounding sentence!) Just curious.

Also, that new "fake drum schematic deal" is LSoaD, right?! heheheheh

Gee, while I'm posting I might as well say something else.
Hmmmmmm.... No one really offered any reasons as to why the boys haven't
played Scarred live, other than its lack of being on the cassette.
Well? I can't figure it out. It's not like Derek would have a really
tough time learning it or anything. It's pretty basic, as far as DT
stuff goes. Maybe because of the vocal harmony in the chorus? I guess
JP couldn't handle it. Any ideas?

Does anyone have the entire Ivanhoe 'Symbols of Time' CD yet?
I've heard some of the .wav's (thanks, Trey!), but they're all pretty
similar. Full CD? Anyone? Good? Bad? Bueller? Frye?

What ever happened to the pictures of the people at the ytsecon?
Did they ever make it to a page somewhere?

All right, I guess that's enough crap for now!

Hiya. Me. Couple of things again.

            1. I could post the answer (Erotomania) to Ben Laussades tingeling
and pretend I wrote this before I read any of the other answer
thus making me seen cool and knowledgeable....

              ....but I won't

            2. The following text has been sencored, but if you are weak-hearted
or such, you might wanna skip. If you're not, skip it anyways.

             F*UC* SHIT* <-(oops,missed) F**K F*** S*I*. N*W LIS*EN HER*

             C*ANGE ANY*HING, OR I'*L GET PI*S*D.F**K *UC*!!!*!!
Just needed to get that off my chest.

            3. I just bough this kewl cd for really cheap. I'd heard the
bands name somewhere, but I didn't remember where. So it was
kind of a blind buy. I listened to it a couple of times and
it sounds GREAT (kindof a Ozric Tentacles and Pink Floyd mix,
but not at all alike). It's Hawkwind and if anyone know anything
about them (discography, what they've done, ARE THEY DEAD?) please
              email me.

            4. ***WARNING*** DT CONTENT ***WARNING***
I'm pissed about beards. The reason I'm pissed about beards is
that I grew one JUST like JP had/has (well not JUST cuz I'm blond=)
when Awake got out. Incidentally I was greatly influenced by
JP about this (yes I can get influenced). That wasn't the reason
I'm pissed. The reason I'm pissed is that now EVERYONE has them!!
Now I can't be so naive to think that JP started this graze. but
there sure as hell weren't many over here at that time. And know
even that one dude in Models Inc. (which I don't watch) (really)
has one !! *sigh* That was the reason I'm pissed.

            5. Lastly I want to thank a couple of people. GREAT THANX (in advance)
to Andrew Garinger for my GREAT AD and Subconcious dubs (still
with me dude ?). To Mike Bahr to making these and more. To Greg
(wasn't it?) for grammar instructions on my sig =). To Bafu
'Bark Me' Vai for general enjoument (and for making us drool for
part V). Fon Ben Laussade for picking up/advancing/ok then, creating
this tingeling thread. Without you we wouldn't be here (hmmm).
And to all the people on this list !!!! I LOVE YOU ALLL!!!!
...sniff...I think I'm getting dangerously happy here...
I'll go back and hibernate again.

As you all send such amusing jams I thought I would send you this
which is from an article in 'Guitarist' magazine last year.

             Pots, Pans and Pickups

What to do if your electric guitar turns into an acoustic.

You are playing your heart out at a gig, when halfway
through the first set your guitar suddenly stops working.

So far you are staying cool - it must be the lead - but the
loud clunk when you unplug the lifeless plank makes
it plainly obvious that the fault lies elsewhere. In
desperation you try a new lead anyway - still no sound.
Then you remember in a state of cold panic, that
because you restrung your guitar yesterday you didn't
             bother to bring a spare.
Fumbling around in a lead bag you find a screwdriver - nervously
you remove the control plate to be confronted by a mass of cables
and metal objects that resemble upside down saucepans !
Yes ! you have found the broken wire, but what is it and
             where does it go ?

             (DT content - Please don't go )

Even if you knew, you haven got any tools or a soldering
iron. By now you're on your knees pounding the floor with
clenched fists. Your tormented facial expressions convince
the audience that this is all part of the act, and that at any
minute the lighter fuel will appear, and your precious guitar
will be sacrificed to the gods of the electric guitar..........

Sorry this isn't a flame, angry discourse, or chain letter, but...

Anyone know if DT is doing any more shows besides the three already
mentioned? Are they going out on tour in early '96 or back to the studio
to finish their album? It's been about a year since they were here last
    and I'm ready again...

How about this one: Why are the Lie and Silent Man singles only available
as imports? As far as I know you can only get versions from Germany or
England. I'd think maybe it would be a good idea to release them in the
States come time for the next singles.

Hey new dude! I'm just a lurker, from a lurker family. Have you gotten
the new Queen release, that was put out yesterday?

I think that I would recommend, not only to you, but to any dream theater
fan, pick up the album Queen II. The music isn't stylistically like
Dream Theater, but I feel that it has a similar production ethic - they
were putting up an incredible "wall of sound" that they didn't care if it
was "appreciated" but is one heck of a rocking album. It's very early
seventies rock. If queen woulda had the promoter Zeppelin had...

Oh, on another note, more along dream theater...back on Oct 21, a friend
ofmine bought my I&W and ACoS for my birthday, cos she knew to that point
I had not had money to buy them, even though I loved them from the moment
my friend introduced them to me. Well, last thursday a tragic chapter
was written in the beginning of my Dream Theater collection - thursday
marked the end of my collection, as someone found their way into my room
and stole all my CDs, my DT discs included. Boy, I was not happy! One
day, sitting back enjoying Take the Time, the next lamenting its theft.
Not to mention, the theft of my entire Queen catalog, my Styx catalog, my
Barry Manilow catalog - YES I LIKE BARRY MANILOW!!!!!

Boy it sucks to have property stolen from your home. You feel so violated.
