I just d/l the pics D-Man has on his ftp server. And noticed
something which nobody else said about the People's Pub gig....Derek
was wearing the same thing at the JP clinic! We have to start buying
more ACoS CDs so Derek can buy some new clothes !-)
Also, about me adding the times for the tracks wrong, heheh, I
was just...er...testing to see...if you were paying attention... :)
Now about Met part 2, could whose who knew about it in the first
place, coughmikebahrcough, ask whoever you find out from if it is on the
CD as a subtitle. If it is going to be an EP or even on a B-side.

For a 2CD bootleg that's very reasonable. Most of the stores here in No.
California that carry boots are around $50 for 2CD, so I see no problem with
this price.

Message-ID: <199608300011.RAA27940@mindcrime.ax.com>
Hey, last saturday we here got our Monsters of Rock! It was a pretty cool concert, despite some bands...
The first was a spanish band called "Heroes del Silencio", very bad in my opinion. Then in the sequence: Mercyful Fate (4th best performance), King Diamond (3rd) and Helloween (2nd). I didn't know much about these three bands, and now I want all their albuns ;). Then there was a brazilian band called Raimundos, which I hate (it's kind of a hardcore thing with some brazilian rhythms mixed). After them, Biohazard, another one that is far from beyong among my favorites.
So, it's Motorhead time. the sound was terrible, you could only hear the drums. Just in the average. Then, the worst of all, Skid Row. I don't want to talk about this crap.
Last but far from least, Iron Maiden. The best in the day. Played about 2h, and Blaze handled everything pretty well. Here goes the set list I can remember: Man on the Edge, Lord of the Flies, The Aftermath, Fortunes of War, Afraid to shoot Stragers, The Sign of the Cross, Fear of the Dark, The Clairvoyant, The Evil that men do, Heaven Can Wait, 2 minutes to midnight, Wrathchild, Iron Maiden, Sanctuary, Running Free, The Number of the Beast, Hallowed be thy name, The Trooper. Not in the right order.
That's it!
Ah, and tell those DT guys that if they don't come here in the next tour I'll go and kill them all with my own hands! ;)

Shit, only 25 minutes. I love this band. They are great, but I have yet to see them live. Their new CD, Wither, Burn and Peel is awesome. Check it out.

Since it appears I have nothing to do this afternoon besides piss off Skadz by filling the jam with a bunch of nonsense, I think I'll do that. Here are my exalted opinions on a few issues brought up in the last digest. Take notes.
Charone on Erotomania (the neurosis, not the song):
> "That's the situation you don't want on your hands when >someone who is >suffering from the mental condition now recognized as *erotomania*, an >unhealthy romantic interest in someone who returns none of your >feelings.
Cool. Brings back fond memories of tenth grade :)
>Because once the erotomaniac feels the situation is hopeless, >he or she will give up in the most final way of all: destroying the >object of their affection."
Oops....um.....if anyone asks, you guys know nothing about a mutilated body buried in the woods, k?
Charone on the Running People Over With Your Car game:
>You want points, > >you have to go for cats and walkers. >
Naaaah. Walkers are for amateurs. Runners are the real challenge :)
Charone on Andy's Interum and B-Sides tapes:
> guys this is extremely good shit
I second that. Andy's tapes rule! Get them NOW!
Charone on Dollar-Yen conversions:
>I have got Uncovered CD in westside of Shinjuku City in Tokyo where >some import CD sotores had Uncovered. The price was 5,100 Japanese Yen. >1 US doller stands for 108 Yen.
"uhhhh...it was my understanding that there would be no math" -Gerald Ford
Oh yeah. And if you haven't ordered your T-Wog (The Wrath of God) from the newly engaged (congrats, Mike) Michael Bahr, do it NOW. The folks on the Metallica list are snatching this one up pretty quickly.
Later all -Char :)

I really appreciate the info. I'm guessing that you'll get a flood of e-mail in response to your post. If, in spite of this, you'd be willing to help out a fellow DT fan...please let me know.
I'd really like to get my hands on those CDs!

The tribute is not available in Canada because CORE, the publisher of Rush's catalog, would not grant the licensing rights for the tribute's sale in Canada. It is not available for sale legally anywhere here and no chains are carrying it. Also, before you call anyone a traitor, let me remind you that many of us have a TON of Rush material. I first saw Rush at a high school in 1973 before the first album had been released. Rutsey was still the drummer. I bought the first album on the original Moon Records label. I was 9 years old at the time. I have every full length product they have ever done and a number of singles. I own one of Lifeson's old amps which I bought from him DIRECTLY in 1981 at the Music Shoppe in Thornhill, Ontario. I haven't missed a tour since 1977. I was also involved with merchandising for Rush's Canadian fan club for 5 years. My loyalty to the band was never in question until now. CORE never would have denied licensing for the disc if Rush, SRO and Anthem hadn't told them not to allow it. As a result, we have fans in Rush's homeland, and a VERY large number in Toronto, their home, being deprived of an alternate representation of their music. This is not typical Rush behavior and THAT is what I find upsetting. When did the Spirit of Radio, the ideology that the music was more important than anything else, die screaming? You should take a closer look at your heroes before you condemn their loyal followers. My personal action in this matter will be to dub copies of the trib for ANY Canadian who cannot get to the states to get it. I realize that this won't help Magna Carta, and I apologize for that, but I can't believe that a band that has ideals as lofty as Rush could ever stoop so low. They sing about inequality in songs like The Trees and then turn their backs on their fans because they are concerned about profit loss. If you really want to talk about lack of loyalty and being a traitor, talk to Lifeson. He and his wife are leaving Canada this week because they are unhappy with our government. This is the same government that awarded the band the Award of Canada. Don't presume to know enough about the Rush fans here that you can insult anyone by calling them traitors. I have been listening to Rush for 23 years. It isn't the music that has ME pissed. It's the lack of respect for the fans in Canada.

I plan on it as soon as I can afford it. By the way Stabbing Westward WILL be going on tour! They are playing the Edge here in Palo Alto, CA on Sept. 15. Which reminds me, I gotta email my boss and get on the guest list.

I find it somewhat didturbing that someone can think that "Counterparts" has no redeeming qualities. I think mahy people will agree with me that "Double Agent" and "Cold Fire" are some of the finest Rush songs ever written. Plus, to deny the significance or quality of works like "Animate," "Nobody's Hero," or "Cut to the Chase" is the ultimate sacrelige. No, I do not put Counterparts very high on my list of favorite Rush albums, but the quality of work hasn't changed--only the pallette of materials. Sure, Rush could have denied that grunge existed and gone in a totally different direction with Counterparts, but maturity involves being <truly> progressive and not sticking your head in the sand. Clearly they were influenced by the retro movement on that record, but who isn't? Whoever denies the current direction popular music has taken <and that's what all this is: pop music> is just being an ostrich.
