This is in regards to Sk8trJay's post.

Please don't send any more chain letters to the jam. This can be
really annoying. I know short posts can too, so I'm sorry about the size of
this one, but I just feel the need to speak out about this.

    Thank you.

Peace be with you and God bless.

Yeah, they did early this year. I've got the German copy, but there is a
US version with more stuff (about 2 minutes of extra music). I don't have
the URL handy, but email if you're interested. I can dig up the URL for a
place that's got it. It's still around the $20 range, though. However,
that's better than the $30+ you'll pay for the German release of it. I got
mine when it was only $16...wohoo!!!!

ok, I have a simple Q, and replying personally or to this list is fine. My
    Question is:

What is the best FW CD our of this bunch?

            1. Chasing Time
            2. Perfect Symmetry
            3. No Exit

I plan on purchasing one, but am not sure which to get..which the most DT like?

You should check out "Parallel''. That is one of their best.

    Enjoy,

    Carri

Well, a while back it was considered cool to get "EOJ's" like this :

    > ------------------------------
    >
    > End of YTSEJAM Digest 2112

Seeing as I was already counting posts, it was easy enough to also
count how many EOJ's everyone got each month... First, I posted the
top-10 lists to the Ytsejam directly... I recently wrote a program
that creates HTML-versions for my homepage with *everyone* who
posted the month before... I use it to make those lists for the
Freaks-list (Marillion), the Ytsejam *and* Voices. Instead of using
the abbreviations EOJ, EOF and EOV I just call them EOD's, which
    stands for "End Of Digest"...

Oh yeah... If your homepage is linked to the MFP-lists, check to see
if the URL is correct if you want people to be able to get there...
(just in case). Also, if your birthday is on the YtseCalendar, check
if that one's correct too... You might have put the date in the
    DD-MM-YYYY format by accident :-/

You know I find it really crude that I come back to to reading the
jams only to find that people are sending chain letters to the jam. I
personally think that those things are the most annoying things on the
planet, and I don't see how they belong on a list such as this,so stop it!!

As for the question about the FW albums, I'd have to say that No Exit
is my personal favorite at this point in time because I have yet to pick up
Perfect Symmetry( hope I spelled it right), but from what I have heard from
other people it sounds pretty good so I think I'm going to get it soon.

Finally, to anyone who has seen any of the shows so far this month, I
just want to get one thing cleared up. Is it ALL new music? I think that's a
really cool idea, but I just want to be sure because my roomate is coming
with me and he is going just upon hearing I+W, and I told him that they
probably won't be playing anything off of that or any other stuff but new
stuff, but I don't think he believed me, for some strange reason.

Hi all. Didn't we discuss having our own radio station about a year ago? I
    think
the idea was to have the call letters WYJM* on the east of the Mississippi. If
I'm not mistaken, KYJM** would have been the letters on the west. Personally,
KYJM** does sound kinda interesting by itself. Imagine if it was a real radio
    station that played GOOD music.

    *WYJM? Why NOT jam?
**KYJM? Why did they ever call it petroleum jelly? It SHOULDA been jam.
That's what you do with it anyway!!! (asbestos underwear on!)

just browsing for guitars... i came across a brand that looks pretty damn
good... its by a company called modulus, and the model is called a Genesis.
its got a thru neck, and looks like it could provide some really sweet
sounds... i probably wont end up getting one, tho still i'm wondering if
anyone has any info or has heard/owns/anything about 'em, i'd like to hear
    it, they look spiffy :)

finally got gutter ballet... four more 'tage studio albums to go! :)

i also just recently got into a band all the hardcore/industrial jammers
would dig... they're called "Skrew".. they did a cd that got some
recognition a while back called Dusted, but i never gave them full ear until
i heard a track off their new cd last night.. its cool stuff, IMO.

and on a final note, its December!!!! i can get out my Cow Christmas CD!!!!

Geez! Does anybody know if they'll be carding? I'm not 18 'til
December 27th, and the friend I'm bringing won't be "of age" until next
spring (not to mention his odd lack of driver's license all together).
If they don't let us in, I'm going to be raging mad. People can't go
screwing with concert settings like that, especially when it's so close!
     Well, I guess they can...

Covered by Def Leppard on the RetroActive CD.

Sweet is best known in the states for the hits _Fox_on_the_Run_ and
    the oft-covered _The_Ballroom_Blitz_. They were a British pop/glam/metal
band that actually released a progressive rock album also. They're one
of those bands you'd remember if you grew up in the 70's. They actually
charted 16 singles on the British charts.

I don't think it will make any difference good or
bad whether the next release is a single or double
CD. The entire genre has been dismissed by the
labels, radio, MTV, critics, and the average
    consumer.

The album would be lucky to sell gold either way
    here in the states.

They should release a double CD here in the states
at single CD prices. They should then release a single
CD in Japan and Europe with a bunch of singles
with b-sides that are on the second US CD.

But then I don't know shit about record marketing.

a few random thoughts to occupy your time...

    1) The Magellan/Shadow Gallery reissues I believe are available via mail
order only and will be available for a limited time.

    2) Magna Carta now has their own web site:
       http://www.zaks.com/magnacarta

    3) Double album. I know I was against this when we (over)discussed this
earlier this year, but I think that with the recent success of Prince's
3CD set debuting at number #11 on Bilboard, multidisc sets can sell.
Remember that Prince hasn't exactly been lighting up sales charts
    recently...

    4) I believe this was said earlier, but if it is a 2CD set, how about
making one of them half music, half CDROM?

Take care, have fun in Poughkeepsie.

    Egads!
I agree that the music is the important part, but, call me crazy, I
like to sing (even if I do not do so well). Nothing breaks the
tension of driving to work every morning than to belt out some good
old James LaBrie wailing high-pitched vox. (Even if I do sound like
Tiny Tim, RIP Tiny) Also, for me to listen to any rock band, it must
have lyrics somewhere. I listen to alot of new age stuff though and
am seldom impressed if I find vocals on it. Yet for me to enjoy any
vocals, they must either be a) catchy, or b) deep. I don't groove
with crap that doesn't fit the mood of the song. I even liked Kurt's
vocals a little even if they didn't make sense. Hell, that's
probably why I liked 'em, singing about the similarities btween a
mosquito and Kurt's libido often cracked me up halfway through the
    song. :)
Anyway, if DT dumped James and quit adding lyrics to their songs,
likely the only way I'd stick with em is if they went new age. Rock
    without vox don't mix, IMO.

Until Dream Theater replaces John Petrucci with John Denver, make

    AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I was afraid of this. We buried the guy and he's not dead. :P

I picked up his Perspectives the other day, too. Whoever said it's
kinda like Yanni needs to listen to some Yanni. :) It's got alot more
classical influence in it than Yanni, and there was alot more jazz
and snazz to this one. It's an incredible album, enriched even more
when you think about who did it. This guy has more courage and more
fire than almost any musician I have ever come across.

I think that VI isn't a good way to get introduced to
EJ. Ah...Via Musicom, I think, is better. Initially,
I was dissapointed with VI, but I cranked it on my
car stereo the other night when I was playing basketball
(like that has anything to do with it) and I was like,
"wow, this is a damn good album!" Maybye I'll give Satch's
    new one another chance, too.

As for gfs not liking DT... I don't think I'd pass the chance
to go to *any* concert for free (well, pretty much). A friend
took his girlfriend to a Rush concert on the RTB tour and she
totally loved them after that--- she started buying albums.
Before, she liked maybye one song by them (Time Stand Still,
and I can't say that I blame her). I only was familiar with
maybye 20 songs by them when before I saw the Presto tour,
but seeing them live blew me away so that I started spending
all my money on albums as fast as I could. If you can get someone
to a concert in a smart way, cool; but don't be pushy. (Ever

    Hi everyone,

Man have I missed the 'jam!! Rush is on tour, DT is doing 5 one-off gigs,
Queensryche is recording their new album - geeeez a lot of things have
happened since I left the list. Well, hello all. I figured it was abou time
I rejoin, especially with all the new DT newz (the newsgroup is not very
    active).

At any rate, as a handful of you may remember, I've been keeping track of as
many of the DT setlists as possible - what that means is that I'd be more than
grateful if someone would be kind enough to post (or email me) the complete
setlist from each show, preferably in the correct order and listing any little
extras thrown in (I realize this may be difficult for the new songs, but if
there's anything different with the older songs, lemme know). Thanx all, and I
look forward to hearing from some of you (a couple of you...one of you?)

PS I have a list of a lot of DT shows, but I'm always looking for more and any
corrections (especially looking for pre-I&W setlists) - feel free to email me
    for the list.

PSS Anyone know if Threshold has released their 3rd studio album yet, or what
stage they are at in recording it?

    >>The boys did "The Killing Hand!!" I'm so stoked, can't wait for Birch
    Hill...<<

Whoo hoo!!! Did they play Another Hand? I sure hope they play TOWHTSTS next
(this time WITH keyboards)!!! What would be really cool is if they dug up
Light Fuse... or perhaps something from the 86 demo.

Ken decreed the following in Ytsejam #2069:

    >>> When I say Mike on "tour" here in Omaha, most of the girls
    >>> there were girlfriends of the guy fans.
    >>
    >> Jaime and I discussed this once. We call them "accessory women." :/
    >
    >I don't know. I think that in many cases these are at least partially
    >DT converts. My fiancee loved DT pretty much as soon as she heard them,
    >so she wants to go with me to see them. However, believe me, she
    >doesn't put up with the groups I like that she doesn't. So though
    >some people go to concerts, clinics etc. as a "date," and aren't
    >die-hard fans, I'd say most of the people there at least appreciate
    >them a little. Give them credit for what interest they may have.

Ah, but see, here's the clue - how they dress. If you want to be taken
seriously, you dress for comfort. <g>

I'm not saying that *all* women at prog/metal shows are "accessories,"
just that there's a particular class. If you saw one, you'd know exactly
    what I mean. ;)

Heather stated the following one 'jam later:

    > I am not "prepubescent".

I think you misunderstood the joke. I was referring to the fact that a
lot of the men on this digest have referred to us women as "girls." In
my mind, I tend to equated that with someone far under the age of
consent. So, each time someone recently mentioned this "girl" or that
"girl," I joked about the 8-year-olds running around. :)

    Martin in #2071:

    >>SO my question is...how do I get her to really
    >>want to go and have a good time while she is there??? I would appricate
    >>the ladies here to help me out as well. Thaks a million!!!! Later!!
    >
    >Hey Dan. Don't make your girlfriend go if she doesn't want to. I
    >wouldn't have done such a thing to my girlfriend.

I'm with Martin. As much as I love DT and try to gently convert as many
people as possible <g>, it's best to let someone make up his/her own mind
to do something. Maybe, in time, she'll be kicking herself because
she'll wish she'd gone, but she'll probably appreciate the fact that you
    didn't pressure her. :)

    In #2072:

    >some other verse I can't remember then something like "Liar, Liar..."

I know it can't be the answer, but I think there's a chorus to a Concrete
    Blonde tune that sounds similar...
