    Hi folks.

I sent a message to jason@guitarists.com inquiring about the death rumour. I got a message back from Pat Mapps, who reads the mail, and that was the following:

    Dear Richard:

Rumors of Jason's death are perhaps inevitable and highly exaggerated.

Thanks for helping dispel this one.

Chasing time is a compilation and is a good survey but doesn't flow very well. Perfect Symmetry is probably the best album ever recorded (IMO, but I'm right :) and probably the most DT-like. Very dark though. No Exit is awesome. Very heavy metal.

So I guess I'd suggest Symmetry unless you're really more into the metal aspect of DT. Be warned that whichever you get will probably take a while to get into. But it's worth it.

Well, I for one love my Strat. If you want to hear Eric cut loose more, definitely check out Ah Via Musicom. And about his tone. He is Mr. Tone, on a never ending quest for the "perfect sound," which to him is to get a very smooth, violin like tone. It's this obsession with tones that contributed to the 6 year wait for Venus Isle. Plus he's from Texas, so he's got the Texas Blues & Jazz influence. TTFN- Sean

I've noticed that if you can get the address for a venue, you should be able to look it up by road atlas at one of these sites:

    http://maps.yahoo.com/yahoo http://map.bigbook.com/cgi-bin/navigator_map http://www.lycos.com/roadmap.html http://www.mapquest.com/

I know that Poughkeepsie is covered by those atlases. Of course, it's always better to have REAL directions from a native of the town.

Hi fellow jammers. Ok about the long songs I think they are awsome and just proves further on how awsome Dream Theater really is for coming up with something like that. Bands out today can barely write songs that are 3 minutes long. Not to mention that its the worst 3 min of my day while listening to crap like that (Bush, Green Day, Marryllin Manson, and all other crap played on the radio) I say we start our own radio station that plays non stop Dream Theater/Rush songs.

(All those who are playing the DT drinking game, get out yer kegs...)

    1) this is my first post. 2) I have been a lurker for a long time now (2 years). 3) I had all these other nifty things to say, but forgot them. Just take several sips to make up for this. 4) those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, go grab a beer and read find the DT drinking game on the internet.

I've been interested in this girlfriend discussion. She really likes DT. I've made her several mix tapes along with non-DT stuff. So I've progressed from WFS to other things like LSOAD, which she really really likes. Then lately I've included TLF and TTT and LTL, all of which she likes. I figure TTT is your basic (I'm not sure if its permisible to use this word while describing DT) DT song, so thats a good sign. And if she likes LTL, then song lengths arent a problem. I had Acoustic Dreams playing in the car and like a month later she asked me to send her a tape of that (yes, we are dating long-distance). I was estatic. As far as the whole thing goes, it depends on the person (obviously). Her tastes are varied: pink floyd, classical and instrumental piano, john denver, etc. I'm kind of glad that she's not a total DT fan. This gives me a chance to share it with her. i just try not to bombard her with it.

As far as me: I'm a geologist, just graduated with my masters from Rice U. and will be starting as a senior lab technician at U of Houston. I'm just thankful to have a job. I first heard DT on the Blahs, I mean the Blaze 103.5 in chicago while lifting weights. It was PMU, and the thing that caught my ear was the use of keyboards. So a few months later i picked up I&W and have never looked back. I saw DT in Houston 2 yesars ago and last Christmas at the Malibu. I'm from Long Island, and feel i have a special bond with DT that way. I was hoping these concerts coming up would be later in December when i would be home :(

Other musical interests are Gentle Giant, ECHOLYN (everyone must have As The World IMO), FW, Iron Maiden, Rush. I love SG's Carved in Stone. Cool lyrics. Enchant's good, similar to FW in song style, i.e. songs arent that progressive, but they're good. Spock's Beard is currently growing on me. Well, that's enough for now later, Rockman -- casmith@mymail.net kill the sarx http://www.myhomepage.net/~casmith/ <><

Once you have received this letter you have to keep it. This is a love game played since 1877, You must copy this letter word for word and send it to 25 people in 7 days. On the 7th day drink two glasses of water and say the name of the person you like. Within 11 days that person will either say he/she loves you or ask you out. This is no joke. It has worked for years. If you break this chain you will have bad luck with your opposite sex for years.

At the Sacramento Rush show last November, whilst trying to enter the busy I-5, I saw three limousines heading the opposite direction on the back roads. We decided to follow. One of the limos (all were white) diverged and headed toward the city lights while the other maintained toward the darkness. Two of the liscence plates were completely un-unique (1ST577B, or something to that effect).... The other liscence plate, however, read LIMO LEE.....It was a California liscence plate.

I was wondering if anyone knew enough about Rush to comment on our findings....
