     Hi!
I was surprised when I found message 'bout TNT on this ML.
And I met John Macarusso(?) the last drummer of TNT (who played on
"Realized Fantasy" album and now he plays for RIOT, do you remember them?
You better check their latest album "The Bretheren of The Long House" )
this April. And he mentioned 'bout reunion of TNT.The axe-men (Lonnie and
Morty)are doing VAGABOND but they can't get enough success in commercial
market, and Tony(vox) is in the same situation (he released one studio
album MORNING WOOD with Al Pitrelli of SAVATAGE etc..but it's far from his
previous success) So they thought we should start again. And drummer
John,he as offered 'bout joining reunited-TNT but he doesn't like Tony 'cuz
he's some kind of Rock-star type. So drummer is vacant place but these 3
guys will back to the rock scene.Do you think still they have a chance to
    back to the rock scene?

Suggestion: use your skipping CD player to write complicated prog music.
    You can't beat it.
For instance, put in some quite straightforward stuff (e.g. Maiden) and
spin it. RESULT: you get prog.

    Hi all

Thought you might like to know about the concert I went to on Friday night.
The headline band was "Edge Of Sanity", supported by "Lake Of Tears", "Sadist"
and some band whose name I didn't catch.
Although they were meant to be third up, "Lake Of Tears" went on first. This
was because the singer had laryngitis, which meant the vocals were done by the
keyboarder *and* the guy who sold the merchandising stuff! At the time, there
were only 100 or so people in the club, but they played a great albeit short
set. I spoke to the guys afterwards, and the singer promised to be fit for the
Summer Metal Meetings, where they are the first band on - I'm looking forward
to it already (anybody else going to the one in Offenbach?).
Then came the band that impressed me most. "Sadist" are Italian, I believe, and
play stuff that I can only really describe as prog/metal with strong cross-over
influences. The bass player (6 string) ripped like Flea from the Chili Peppers,
and the guitarist played keyboards and guitar simultaneously for almost all the
set - amazing stuff. If any of you Jammers can point me at CDs by these guys or
provide me with more info, I would be grateful (come on you Italian Jammers).
"Edge of Sanity" came as a bit of a disappointment. They sometimes tried to
play too hard and fast, but couldn't quite get things together. I like hard
and fast stuff (Napalm Death, Machine Head, Sepultura), but this didn't work
out. When they played slower, they sounded a lot like early Tiamat and were
interesting to hear/watch, but I decided to call it a day after about 40 or so
minutes. Oh, there was one guy there with a Dream Theater shirt.

New CDs: Crimson by "Edge Of Sanity"
             Wolfheart by "Moonspell"

It may seem a bit bit strange for me to first tear up a band for their live
performance and then praise their new album, but that's what I'm going to do.
Crimson consists of one single track that is about 40 minutes long (beats even
Dream Theater, huh) and is very Wagneresque in the way that it uses so-called
Leitthemen. Musically very much like Tiamat, and even the faster bits are well
played and the vocals are 100% better than the live stuff. Worth listening to.

"Moonspell" come from Portugal and play gothic/doom metal (for the want of a
better description) with influences from Portugese folk music. My first reaction
when I listened to this in the shop was "why the fuck haven't I heard of this
band before?". I was hooked from the first song. They also use female vocals
from time to time, which is something I like a lot in this kind of music. If you
like gothic/doom, this is an album for you.

Has anybody else noticed that the new Metallica video is based on the painting
"Garden of Delight" by Hieronymus Bosch? It's almost like the painting come to
life ("Garden of Delight" is also a good German band worth checking out).

Great news for Kraut-Jammers in or near Frankfurt: on Thursday the 13th of June,
Paradise Lost (!) will be playing in the Batschkapp in Frankfurt, supported
by Nefilim (!). Tickest are still available and cost DM 27. See you there.
I don't know of any other dates - check your local music press.

What do you get if you cross a crooked lawyer with a crooked politician?
    Chelsea Clinton

    stay safe and happy listening

    Hello ye outer space 'jamanoids.

A number of bands have been called "cheesy 80's hair metal" on the 'jam. It just
occurred to me that if we were to compare the state of popular music today
(alternacrap, neo-punk, techno etc.) with the bygone days of "cheesy 80's hair
metal" (TNT, White Lion, Kingdom Come etc.) what would YOU prefer to listen to?
The stuph they're feeding you today? Close that MTV down. There's better things
in life. Besides, the boys (I'm entitled to say "boys", all except JLB are
younger than me)of Dream Theater have been strongly influenced by these 80's
metal bands. Just look at the WDADU CD liner photos. Not that it means anything.
BTW, stuph is (c) Skadz Pluphy Muphin Prods.

Just a few words about top 10 lists:

STOP THEM A.S.A.P.! I mean like, yesterday!
    --------------------------------------------

These are written in uppercase because damn well I am shouting. I should know
what I'm talking about bcoz I'm one of the oldtimers who started one of these
goddamn top 5 things back BEFORE the moderated Kbibbytse Jam and then the 'jam
got absolutely chaotic. I'm not saying that it will get that way again (too many
of us remember the days of the top 5 list Flood), but someone will eventually
get kicked because of these lists. Skadz said so. Skadz is a very kind person
(he even refused to kick me despite the awful RESPONSE messages) but I think the
next poster of top ten lists will reach the end of his famous kind streak. BTW,
the same type of chaos can be summoned by posting more of these "stop the top 10
lists"-posts. So I'll stop ranting now.

Would the other person who voted for Stratovarius in the Y.S.I. identify himself
(C'mon Ben, come out of the closet! Or is there a mysterious Finn on the list
that I don't know about...?)? Yeeeeeha, there's already two of us Strato fans in
the 'jam already. The quest for world domination has begun! :) Timo Tolkki
rules, who's Yngwie? Has anyone located any of Stratovarius CDs in the States
    yet?

My sincere congratulations for Superior and especially our very own punk owl
Bernd Basmer. The 13th (albeit ominous number) place in the Y.S.I. is a sign
that you must have been doing something right. And as I'm talking about the
band, to reduce the number of inquiring messages about the matter, anyone who's
searching for a copy of their CD "behind", you can obtain yours at
jskewes@why.net (Jason Skewes in the US) and superior@dreamt.org (that's Bernd
himself in the rest of the globe. Get yours now. And no, I'm not being paid for
this. No, I didn't get a free copy either.

By the way, DreamNDay is moving. I think there'll be no ARKVILLE jokes anymore.
I think Brian will be rejoining the 'jam pretty soon, so you who aim to appear
on the most frequent posters list, post now, your time is running short. :)

Well, there come the nurse boys again with those nice syringes and a
straitjacket. I'll better hide myself. Time to go to sleep

    Afternoon people,

There was someone wondering where TNT came from, they were a NORWEGIAN
band, not Swedish...just so that the records is straight on that issue!
They have had quite a few American members along the way, most notably
Joe Lynn Turner, no wonder the band sort of faded into the black!

If you are interested in Norwegian hard/metallic rock, I would recommend
Motorpsycho, they are fairly well known on the underground circuit in
Europe, and are wildly available on import. They sound sort of like a
cross between the Grateful Dead/DT/Marillion and Nirvana....if you can
imagine such a thing! Very innovative, and well worth a check!

    Best Wishes,

    Jon Berger

Got the new 'Tallica last Friday. It's been on sale here, in the shops,
since that day. I think "Load" is a diverse thing, with good and bad bits.
"Mama Said" and "Bleeding Me" have so far not impressed me at all. Some of
the other songs are really kick-ass stuff. Especially because it's the
longest CD I've got (78'47" I seem to recall), on length alone it features
incredible value for money (and you got a pin with it, too, and a free CD
single with a live version of "2x4" as bonus track - which is one of the
    better tracks, incidentally).
Now some of you might have heard their DOnington appearance. They played
two new songs: "2x4" and "Devil's Dance". But the latter is not on the
album. Could someone fill me in which song used to be "Devi's Dance" (I
assume the song is on the album but simply got renamed). I never heard the
    Donington "Devil's Dance", you see.

Now for the DT content. I think they're cool. "Carpe Diem" rules (I hope
Mike will make CD liners like that in future!). My guitar playing,
yesterday, reached approximately 4.2% of the capacity of JP.

Now this brings back memories! I remember seeing White Lion at L'amours in
Brooklyn, NY when only 50-100 people would show up.

True story: I passed a Black Bronco a month ago with the license plate
ROKNROAR. The dude inside had a huge honker and long hair, so I'm assuming
that it was Vito! (my brush with greatness!!!)

One last note on Yngwie and then I'll leave it alone... I think it's great
that so many other Ytsejammers came to his defense. Sure, he says a lot of
stupid things when asked to rate other players, but that doesn't take away
from his playing. He changed my whole outlook on guitar playing. I learned
that you don't have to re-hash the same blues licks when playing a heavy metal
    solo (a la Kirk Hammett).

Hey, everybody! I just wanted to share with my fellow jammers that my
band (which is very new) got a call from a great Boulder band called
Chitlin. They want us to play TONIGHT at the FOX with them! If anybody
is from the Boulder, CO area, you know that the Fox is the best place to
play in town. Anyway, we get an opening slot for about an hour....we're
totally psyched. If any jammers are in the area, it's a free show
tonight, June 3 at 9:00. I'll be the sweaty beast behind the kit!!!
Thanks for listening, even though you don't care!

At work, trawling (trolling?) for on-line help, got sidetracked, found

       Necronomicon, The
A fabled grimoire or textbook of black magic for evoking demons,
supposedly compiled by the "mad Arab Abdul Alhazred"-in fact, an invention
of H.P. Lovecraft, writer of supernatural and fantasy fiction. The name
"Abdul Alhazred" was adopted playfully by Lovecraft around the age of five,
after reading an edition of The Arabian Nigths, and was used in later
    life in Lovecraft's fiction....

What the hell? I'm the only person on here that likes Exodus, Prong,
and Overkill? I guess this list has less metal in it than I thought. No
wonder nobody knew who the Toxic Waltzer was. (hee hee, the Toxic
    Waltzer shall rise again!)

BTW, does anyone know what happened to Savatage? I thought they were
warming up for a U.S. tour?

Keep thrashing, (er uh, keep listening quietly for most of you people)
