Yep, that's YYZ. This is from a fellow 'Jammer and friend of mine, Jon
Heller, who is on vacation right now. He's a huge Primus fan and says that
Primus are(is?) huge Rush fans, especially Les. They've been known to cover
Rush live on occasion. I noticed that the first time I heard it and since
he isn't a Rush fan, he never noticed it until I said something. From what
I've heard here, Primus opened for Rush at one time.

    Later,

Neat thing is, when I first heard I&W, I saw "Highlander" a month later and heard the music by Queen and thought, "Boy, this Dream Theater could probably do a really cool soundtrack if anyone ever does another Highlander." Little did I know there already was a second one in the works and a third on the horizon.

    > In the original movie there is a song by Queen called To Live Forever. > You guys probably knew that already, but it may be news to those of you > who have actual lives outside the TV.

I don't think that's the actual title, but that song Kicks Ass. If DT ever does a Queen cover, I hope it's that song. Hey, I like "We Are The Champions" as much as anyone, but that Highlander theme just hurts brains. ("hurts brains" (c) WildKoba Magical Brain-Hurting-Funk Productions 1996)

BTW, Charone, nice animals. Frog and cat?

Both are absolutely incredible songs, however, and > TLF (or should that be TeeLuff?) would have been great in "Highlander", > IMO.

True, would have been. BTW, to anyone who hasn't seen "Highlander III: The Sorcerer," the closing song (end credits) is done by Nuno Bettencourt. It's called "God Took A Picture Of Me," and is a total Nuno-piece, I mean it really does sound like his style, you should be able to pick that out a minute into the song. Maybe it'll be on his solo album, which I think is due out sometime this year. Then there's that Vai geetar-player d00d with a solo album. He's going country, just watch. You'll see. Mark my words.

And let's not forget Vito Bratta and Reb Beach who either have yet to get their shit together, or defeat their recording companies (da man) who are mercilessly holding them back.

    > dk, you are one strange individual! ;-)

    I concur. (Can you?)

    > Currently playing: Judas Priest - Painkiller. Scott Travis should be > locked away for being that fast! :-)

Scott Travis?? As in Racer X?? I heard "Painkiller" a long time ago and was fascinated by the drumming, but never got into Judas Priest. I've also been listening to Racer X's "Live Extreme Volume" for the last year wondering if "Mister Scott Travis onda drumkit!!" ever got into another band. Now I gotta check out Judas Priest...

Speaking of Judas Priest, when Pantera says "Beckon the call, beckon the call," does anyone ever find themselves chanting "Breakin' the law, breakin' the law?" A point to ponder. Food for thought. Sliced cucumbers of ponderance for the cuisinart of your mind.

Otherwise, I have a general, un-DT-related question. There's this song from 1988 I think, that goes something like this:

Male voice: "Well I hate my job and I got no car, and my ATV won't take me that far. Halla-halla-ho and a halla-halla-hay, another holiday."

Female voice: (chorus) "Distant lands, I run so far away. I don't know where we don't go. Take my hand I'll show you the way, pack your bags and sail away."

I think the song was called "Holiday" or something of that travelling nature. Anyone with any memory of this 80's tune please e-mail me, cause it's burning a hole in my crackpipe. ("crackpipe" (c) Wildkoba Magical Brain-Hurting-Funk Productions 1996)

Hello everyone, it's BABS. Wow, out of all the people I've ever talked to about LIE this is the first one that comes close to my interpretation of it. Here's my theory:

I perceive it as a guy talking to someone with whom he had once been involved with. Especially where he's saying "let me in honey, I've been out in the rain all day" Then it goes into a dialogue of talking about trust. The part where it says "you tell me 'bout your two more coming, but once was just enough for me..." I view it as a guy admiting that he and this woman had a child together and now she has moved on with her life and is possibly carrying another man's twins????????? I guess that the part that really hits me between they eyes is where it appears that the man is talking to his child and he's saying "I don't want to talk about life long mistakes you can tell your stepfather I said so..."

Now everybody go home tonight and listen to LIE again and see if it hits you guys this way. Let me know what you think, it will be very interesting to see everyone's point of view.

Hello everyone, it's BABS. Ok, it is time to get everything out on the table where the YTSE Cons are concerned.

I have been in contact with both Jeff Olson and Jeff Chew and have told them what I have heard from management. I will recap everything.

According to my talk with Don Douglas the band will not be going anywhere until they finish recording. That is their #1 priority, remember everyone the damn record labels own them. No recording equals no future.

When there is a pause in the recording it will be because John and Mike P will probably over in Europe conducting guitar and drum clinics.

As for YTSE Con in Las Vegas. Yes, I have been working with Todd Strictland on this for several months. I feel that it would be fantastic. I feel that it would be a good way to get the west coast involved. I mainly plan on turning most of this over to Todd. What I would do on my end is try to organize cheap airfare and travel accommodations for the east coast people as well find someone in the midwest to organize the same. What I would eventually like to see is that each region (east, midwest and west coast) be set up so that we could eventually combine everyone and have a big doozy once a year - that is the ultimate dream.

Again, this is something that is WAY DOWN THE ROAD. It is way too premature to pull together overnight.

Now that doesn't mean that everyone can't get together and meet, but as far as the band being able to show up to each one is being a bit demanding on our end. They are all people like you and I and have their own personal lives that I'm sure they wish to focus on. I can honestly tell you that Don Douglas was very sincere in saying "for as much as we and the band would love to do all these things (i.e. conventions) we have too many loose ends that we need to take care of at this time..." So there is your answer right there- they are open to these conventions, but they aren't always available to take part in them.

    Ok, I've rambled enough.
