Yes, Pull Me Under (LATM version) was released as a single with
Surrounded (LATM version) on it. A lot of jammers got it for free since
someone posted that the first 50 who respond will get a free copy.

About DT releasing a ballad as a single. What do you call Another Day? I
think Surrounded was released as well.

I'd just like to say that I'm tired of weeding through all this immature
nonsense on the jam. I truly thought that when I signed on I would only
be getting pertinent info on DT and related bands. Instead, it's like sitting
in on a juvenile slumber party! I guess I assumed most of the posters
here were mature and of sound mind, but I guess every group has its
lowest common denominator. This is almost as bad as those ridiculous
chat rooms on AOL. To the organizer of this jam, on sorry you had to
watch your idea deteriorate into what it has become. To those who post
legitimate info (Mike Bahr, Mike Backof, etc.), this does not apply to you,
and I'm sorry if you take any offense to it. So long!

    All-
I didn't know that Joey was trying to get The Ball back on MTV. I
have also heard that MTV is trying to get some kind of "hard rock" show back
on the air. I have the feeling that "heavy metal" is going through some
stigma changes. I read an article about z-rock and how they are going from
the immature beavis and butthead humor to a more "theater of the mind vibe,
Pink Floydie, less wacky, more heady" format.
I've always thought that the squeeky wheel will get the oil, and
there are simply TOO many fans of heavy metal in general, along with us prog
rockers, to be ignored. With someone like Joey B leading the way, something
is BOUND to happen, even if it is Riki Rachtman back on MTV. (Just as long
    as it's not Eric Palladino!)
I think there is potential in the air. Can you feel it??

I went to the post office to see about an internatinal money order so I
could pay for the Carpe Diem boot. Well, it turns out that from the post
office international money orders are a pain in the ass and cost 7.50.
You have to send the money order to St Louis where they convert it and
    send it along.

I'd advise anyone to just send the money to Mike Bahr and let him deal
with it. Mike, is there some secret?

I've been meaning to give some impressions of some albums I've boughten
    recently, so here goes:

    Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle

I keep hearing stuff like, "This is the weirdest album ever. Period."
Although seriously messed-up, these guys aren't all THAT weird. When they
actually try to sit down and write a half-way real song, it's pretty groovy!
The stuff's just so jerky. One second polka, the next, Spanish spoken word,
then next, drunken Jamaican beer-swilling chants. A very fun album to listen
to. And after a while, you start to sing along!

Thought Industry - Songs for Insects

Three words: Oh my God! These guys rock! That first song is SOOOO damn
catchy. I especially love that electric-tom solo thingie he does every once
and a while. I thought I once heard that this album was REALLY weird, but
what the hell? The weirdest thing about it is the cover-art. Dali rules, by
the way. The band's VERY progressive, the singer's great. He distorts his
voice once and a while. The drummer's very prominent. The lyrics are um, out
there. Not one lyric rhymes in the album, I don't think. The singer's a very
deep guy - you can tell. Someone please e-mail me about your impressions of
the rest of their albums. I heard that they're not doing any more "Songs for
Insects" type songs anymore... Is this a good thing???

Sleepless - The concise King Crimson

This single album has ALL the old favorites on it. Red, Elephant Talk, etc.
I've come to a few conclusions. Red was made in 1974. Thrak was made in 1995.
Red sounds almost EXACTLY like some of the stuff off Thrak. Talk about
sticking to a formula! I'm not saying that all their albums sound the same.
Just that the song, "Red" sounds like something off of Thrak. Another thing...
King Crimson ballads suck. And they do too many of them. KC's hard stuff just
kicks ass because it's so strange, and I love it, but leave the ballads to
    Barry Manilow, please!

    King Crimson - Thrak

If you don't own any KC, I'd suggest giving this one a try. VERY prog and very
good stuff. Overall, my favorite KC album.

    Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Eh. I don't know, for some reason this one just doesn't grab my attention as
much as their two newest ones do. I know, I know. Blasphemy. I should
probably just give this one another listen. (I have yet to REALLY listen to
it. Just background music so far.) It's good, but I don't know if it's as
great as everyone's been leading us to believe. I'll give it another listen.

    Allan Holdsworth - Sand

I used my $10 birthday gift certificate to buy this one and give it a try. Um,
where is the guitar??? He plays a synth-axe almost throughout the whole album!
(Keyboard put onto a guitar = Synth-axe) On the album, it says "With the
exception of Blah Blah's solo in Blah Blah, this album contains no keyboards."
Yeah, Allan, well that's cool and all, but IT SOUNDS LIKE A KEYBOARD TO ME!
Whatever the case, I wanted a wicked guitar-filled album and I only heard
guitars twice. The rest is more reminiscent of Yanni. A boring Yanni at that.
A bad first impression of Allan, I know. If anyone wants to buy this from me,
let me know, otherwise it's going to be sold to the nearest used CD dealer for
    about 3 bucks.

    Allan Holdsworth - Metal Fatigue

CDConnection recommended this one as a good starter for Holdsworth and I
thought I'd give Al a second chance. This is much better. Guitars abound.
I've only heard it once but I have a feeling it'll grow on me. A couple tracks
    have some nice vocals too!

    Korn - Korn

One of the heaviest albums I own. These guys are somewhat progressive, too!
The thing with this album is, that half of the songs just kick total ass. The
rest of the songs are annoying screaming/crying songs that seem to be filler or
something. The lyrics are whiny and to me, immature yet the album screams to
be taken seriously. Sorry guys, I just can't be as emotional as you about
mommy taking your supper away. I guess you have to have grown up in a trailor
park to get into it. I'll just listen to my favorite 5 tracks and skip the
crying songs. (Literally, at the end of the album, he's crying. Weird.)

    Savatage - Streets

This album is REALLY good, guys. It's not as progressive as I was led to
believe, but is appeals to the 80's rocker in me. That's a good thing.
There's nothing wrong with melodic rock. They try new ideas in this and have
some fun while telling a pretty cool, and somewhat corny story.

    Savatage - Dead Winter Dead

Much more progressive than Streets, but still not a "True" prog band. These
guys are the ultimate "Rock Opera" band. Kings of the concept album! In this
one, they play with Mozart a little and do some cool instrumentals, as well as
some heavy stuff too. Not QUITE as melodic as Streets, but it's really close.
I like these albums equally, but I keep thinking I own the best two Savatage
albums out there. These are the only ones I hear about. *Sigh*

    Extreme - Pornograffiti

Very under-rated stuff. About as progressive as "Streets", which means, "A
little bit". You can tell they had a lot of fun making this one. Am I the
only guy on the planet that likes "More than words"??? Very melodic album
again with some wicked, wicked guitar work by Nuno Bettencourt. If you're
looking for a fun, good-time album that's kinda-80's-ish but not too
    wanker-ish, go for this one.

Extreme - III Sides to Every Story

Much more progressive than Pornograffiti but just as listenable. A much more
mature album this time, Extreme attempts to tackle the issue of war from all
three sides: Pro, Con, and "Who Cares?". I kind of get sick of the "War,
War, War" of the album. (That's all it's about - It's a concept album, ya
know.) Luckily Nuno's guitarwork more than makes up for it. At the end,
there's a nice 18+ minute trilogy summing up the whole album. If you like
Pornograffiti, get this. Did everybody get my comparison between Savatage and
Extreme? Savatage went from Streets to Winter in the same way that Extreme
went from Porno to III. Cool, no?

    Sepultura - Roots

I've been dangling my feet in the waters of "Death Metal" for some time now and
I've finally jumped in with this album. Luckily I'm not drowning in...
    "RRRRRRRRRWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
There's plenty of stuff going on in this album to keep this prog-man
interested. Voice distortion, exotic instruments, lots of fun stuff, including
a spot where they purposely end a song seemingly using less and less powerful
amplifiers. It's like, you hear a guitar chord nice and clear, and then
gradually it gets crappier and crappier sounding until it sounds like someone's
cranking up their shitty boom-box waaaaaay too loud so that it's all distorted
and stuff. I don't know what they did here, but it isn't your conventional
"Guitar distortion". Anyway, a very interesting Metal band and as soon as I
can get used to the lead singer's growling, I'll love it! =)

    GWAR - Anything

Take away the costumes. Take away the lyrics about fucking people with frozen
pieces of shit and you've got a very complex band. Yes, folks. GWAR is
progressive. I went to their concert recently just for the sake of saying I
went to a GWAR concert and I was amazed at all the complex time sigs they used.
If you are willing to delve into the bizarre, and realize that above all, GWAR
is the ultimate in wankers ;) you might like what you hear. Or not.

    Watchtower - Control & Resistance

I've talked about these guys before, but my main point was that the lead
singer's voice is just too damn annoying and that the musicianship is by far
the most complex album that I own. Hard to follow and a whirlwind of ideas,
it's a very hard album to listen to. Slowly but surely I'm getting used to it
and am trying to appreciate it.

Sieges Even - Their first one (Can't remember the name...)

I don't own this album. I just thought I'd paraphrase someone's review of it.
"These guys out-Watchtower Watchtower! Their technical skills are amazing!
And then there's the singer... Yes, the rumors are true. This guy's the worst
singer ever. He has to be heard to be believed! After a while I just thought
his singing was just silly and was able to not be distracted from the awesome
music." I might get this just for the novelty of having it. =)

    Sieges Even - Sophisticated

I don't own this one either, but it's their newest one and they've switched
singers and I heard that their song structure has developed and matured, yet
it's still just as heavy and complex. I've tried every online CD service I
can find and nobody has this! I want it!

    Superior - Behind

It's in the mail and from the sound bytes on the net, and from what I've been
hearing, I have no doubt that this'll be one of my best purchases lately. Rock
    on, Bernd!

I know all of these reviews are disorganized and scatterbrained, but I've just
wanted to give you all my impressions of them. Hope I helped!

Hello hello hello, new to this place but just thought I would answer
an earlier mail about how much exposure DT get in Europe. Quite
frankly, none, nil, zilch. I had never heard of them until a year
ago when I met my boyfriend - it was an instant love (both DT and the
boyfriend!). Likelihood of ever hearing them on any radio station is
about as likely as me eating British Beef!

Anyway, there are people of taste in the UK, and we're just patiently
waiting for the day when DT decide to don their thermal undies and
pay us a visit (spread the word to them that I make a great cup of
    English tea!).

thats been going on, all sorta other junk, not to mention i ALWAYS get
sick on holidays yet i've never gotten sick once during a day of
school... yeah i'm sick now too and its my week off... so i figured
i'd at least get a post up or somethin'

Randy Rhoads stuff here -> Ok i just came across a magazine back
from 1987 around the time Tribute was released and the whole things
dedicated to Rhoads. Its got interviews with Delores, Ozzy, Sharon,
Randy's music teacher, producers, all sortza fun stuff. Anyways if
anyone wants a typed copy of the mag. mail me, if i get enough requests
i'll do it, but i wont have the mag for long. Its got some things i
    found pretty interesting.

Ok about all this wankers stuff going on, i think its getting a little
carried away. I try not to flame people much and when i posted that
pantera thing it was all just for fun, all flames are pretty much for
fun i'd think, unless someone is really sadistic enough to enjoy to
hurt peoples feeling in front of alot of people for no reason. I say
just drop it, drop any hard feelings against someone who flamed you
here because i've never seen anything that really looked like it was an
insult or anything to take too seriously, even though it may seem
different being the butt of the joke, its usually nothing to get worked
    up about.

    >What Ever Happened to Music Videos?

when i was checkin' out all these old guitar mags i almost flipped.
They're incredible! real guitarists on every page, tons of great
techniques and the parts at the beginning of the magazine where people
write in were about things like Nuno vs. Satch! Its great! what ever
happened?! Now its full of alternative bands interviews because theres
nothing for them to offer musically, and when they do try its just how
to finger power chords like they do or stuff like that. Dont get me
wrong here, alot of you like Alternative type music and thats fine, but
i dont think they need to be in all these guitar magazines so much.
They transcibe things like Greenday songs which is a big waste
considering anyone should be able to figure them out and as for
beginner guitarists, they should be able to find SOMEONE who can show
them, ug. Oh well, readin all these old mags sure is fun anyways,
remember how Mtv used to be? I came across the Grind the other day,
which is a show where people dance and thats about it, and just kinda
thought if the kids from 10 years ago could see this what would they
think? still awake through all this? wow. ok i'll get off this
    subject.

    >Does that mean we should refer to to you guys as Master Laussade,

Master Zero will be just fine thank ye' :)

    Hi All,

I saw this on Usenet the other day and thought I would post it here:

    > Hey all. I'm considering the idea of putting together a FW

For God's sake please don't respond to me about this, write to the guy
above. I think FW shirts would be cool since probably a lot of us
have never seen them on tour and don't have shirts. Hey no DT
    content, amazing huh *grin*?

I got my hands on an original Mechanic Records promo cassette of WDADU,
and I'm willing to trade it away for whatever DT/other band stuff I don't
    already have.

In case you're wondering, the inlay card has only the songtitles on the
front, and a band photo on the inside.

Any reasonable trade offer will be considered, as long as your name does NOT
    begin with A :)

    >DTC: On Space-Dye Vest there is a soundbite that goes like this. "In

    >Houston they say that? Come on, they're all messed up. Why would they have

Wow. Now I know I've been a jammer for a while cuz _I _ remember this thread.
First of all, I believe we established it to be "Dry until they hit the
swimming pool", and second it's from Conan O Brien.
