What? Bar-bands? What is this guy talking about?? Most of the members of the bands who contributed to make this tribute are Complete musicians. Take the perfect example of James Labrie, John Petrucci, Etc.. Heck, even those who everyone thought were gonna suck, did a great job like Sebastian Bach. Another point is that some of these "bar-band" members played their parts of the songs much better than the original thing. For example, the bass playing in The Trees is much more complex in the Working Man tribute, (in my opinion) and some of the guitar solos leave the original thing on the floor. Oh and I really think Mike Portnoy can kick your old-fartnucker ass anytime you old geeser.

Mr Neil Peart lost all my respect on this one.

With all this talk about 80's metal, etc. (LONG LIVE WARRANT -- even though they're latest is almost devoid of a srtong guitar solo.....a little TOO much alternative) I ran into a local coffee house here in Chicago as I saw they sold used discs. I cannot tell you what a windfall this became. More 80s metal discs than I have seen in any other shop including Second Hand Tunes, Dr. Wax....anything! Dangerous Toys, Ratt, 'Ryche, Winger, Telsa, DLR, White Lion, Cinderella, _DT_....A ton of great stuff from $5-9! Usually I find Metallica, etc. This is Lincoln Park--Wrigleyville, you know, where sooooo many post-collegiates (like myself) live. But most are into the mainstream thing a la MTV, Melrose Place, Party of 5, Bush, "whateverisbeingpushedasthenextgreatband" stuff. Also was at G3 on Friday. WAS AMAZED! Stood next to a jammer form the U of Ill. (sorry, forgot your name) for a while and needed to reference him for the title of WDADU (yikes!). I was introducing titles, etc., to a long-time Rush fan who hasn't heard DT yet. I think our side won! Steve

    > Adrian Legg is the King of the planet Acoustishred, and > he has spoken.

    Um.... No.

Adrian is distinctly more country sounding, because of his bends. There is nothing in his music that sounds like shred (Scales zipping about... sweep picking... tapping, etc) he's more song oriented. He's quick, but his fingerpicking doesn't set him apart from Joe Acoustic... it's that tuning peg deal. That's what's cool. I don't think I'd care for his audio recordings. I think he's just more fun to watch.

Now... for any of you planning this Coup for rulership of planet Acoustishred, count on being rounded up by the S.A.T.C.H (Super Army That Catches Heretics) and V.A.I. (Very Angry people who live in Igloos -- you know what Dennis Leary said about cold people) and drilled through the head by Commander Pablo Gilberto.

I went looking for a Gary Hoey album at CDNow (great website for CD buying, check it out...www.cdnow.com) and saw, among the other discs, an album called "Ho! Ho! Hoey!"

Apparently this is an album of instrumental guitar Christmas songs. There was no track listing for this one though, which makes me wonder: Does anybody else have this one? What's on it? Is it worth picking up?

DT content: Mike, add my name to the clamor of voices wanting to know what the new disc'll be called. :)

More DT content: Is there anything at all about "When Dream and Day Unite" that makes it worth picking up? I've heard so many nasty things about the vocals that I've avoided it like the plague so far...

Hi ytsevets, After reading Neil's thoughts on tributes and other bands, I'm afraid I've lost what little respect I had for him altogether. I have never really been a true Rush fan because I've always felt Neil to be a little too arrogant for his own good. But now I'm convinced he believes the center of the universe rotates around him. These are not "bar-bands" that paid tribute to them-these all have contracts, CD's, sales, agents, etc. just like RUSH. For him to think he's so much better is inexcusable. I WAS considering buying a ticket to their concert but fuck that now. However, it doesn't surprise me that he feels that way. All one has to do is read any of his previous interviews on any subject or in any time frame and you'll see what I mean.

Love that DREGS compilation. Allows me to decide what else I might like. Currently, 'Age of Reason' is my favorite band on it. Facade is like second. Get it if you haven't already.

I hope someone who can just quietly unsubs the idiot who calls us all 'cocksuckers'. This guy doesn't deserve a reply. (ooops I just made one):>

And Mike, what the hell is the name of the CD? More importantly, who is the producer? This thing needs to get going I NEED MORE DT!!!!

Hey Jammers, Whoa it's been a long time since my last post. As far as Birch Hill Tickets Availability goes you will probably be able to but tix at the door. That club really sucks for the fact that they will cram as many people as possible in there( much more than can actually fit). The reason they can do this is there are actually 2 or 3 different clubs there so it is zoned to fit as many people in all of the clubs so on nights with shows you get VERY aquainted with the people around you. Those of you at the last show can atest to that. I was about a foot from the stage last year and still couldn't see a thing.
